Buddakan - Atlantic City
Buddakan has been called “a temple of modern Asian cuisine.” But it’s also a testament to the possibilities of inspired design. Upon entering, the first thing one sees is the surreal Asian garden surrounded by multi-level archways and 25-foot trees that seem to grow through rocks, footbridges and the ceiling itself. The dramatic atmosphere and enchanting karma is enhanced by the presence of a gigantic Golden Buddha that watches over the entire restaurant from a head of a 24-foot communal dining room table. The menu portrays an innovative interpretation of Asian Cuisine that matches the ambience in terms of creativity, inspiration and its capacity to satisfy. A delectably imaginative fusion of Chinese, French and Asian styles that results in dishes that exotic yet comforting – all prepared with perfectionist attention to the smallest detail.

"We had our favorites--boneless ribs app, crab fried rice (get soy sauce) and eggplant side dish. All were excellent, and there is plenty for two to share. We splurged on a bottle of Cakebread chardonnay. Our waitrress was superb in every way."

"This was our first time at Buddakan and I hope it will not be our last. The servers were pleasant and efficient. The food was delicious and plentiful. I loved the decor and the giant Budda but I felt the lighting was a little too dim.

"Upon entering, we were seated immediately. Our server promptly and pleasantly arrived at our table and wished my wife a Happy Mothers Day ( we were also celebrating our adult sons birthday ).The service was swift and efficient. Buddakan,s dishes are meant for for sharing - the portions are somewhat large. Because they are for sharing, orders do not necessarily come out at the same time but there was always food on the table. At the end of the meal we were surprised by a birthday treat - complete with candle - for my son.
The decor is Asian, with a giant golden Buddah, as its centerpiece. The atmosphere is cool and serene. We ordered at least five or six different dishes - they were all fantastic. Buddakan is a must visit."

"My boyfriend and I were celebrating our anniversary at Buddakan for dinner. They were fantastic! The hostess asked if we were out for any special occasion and after we sat down, they gave us complimentary champagne! It was the good stuff too. The food portions were perfect; we ordered the chicken and ginger dumplings for an appetizer; black pepper beef for an entree, vegetable fried rice, and tempura vegetables. For dessert, the chocolate mousse. Everything was spectacular and the waitress was really helpful!

"I went here w/5 girls to celebrate a bachelorette party. We had reservations for Sat at 8pm and were running a few minutes late. They were able to hold our reservation until 8:15pm and we made it in time. I requested one of the side booths, reading on reviews previously that they were pretty swanky and tucked away. They were perfect for our group. It almost felt like a private dining experience where we weren't distracted by others but able to be our silly selves.
The food was fantastic, too! The edamame had huge chunks of salt on it, the peach sangria special was delicious, and I particularly remember the dumplings being delicious. We ordered 1 thing from each section of the menu and it was plenty to fill us up without weighing us down."

"We came to Buddakan to celebrate a bachelorette weekend. I had only mentioned the occasion in passing when making the reservation. After dinner, our server brought out complimentary champagne to celebrate. No one even mentioned anything to him during dinner - now that's attentive service! "I spent a few days with my 88 year old mother to honor her birthday and ate in several restaurants in Atlantic City including other Asian Fusion restaurants (well, ok, the other Asian Fusion restaurant). All of us felt that the meal we ate at Buddhakan was among the best meals we have ever had and that includes Mom's cooking -- ok, mom never cooked asian fusion.... Everything we ate had subtle and distinct flavors that really pleased our mouths and satisfied our appetite. I strongly recommend this restaurant."

"The experience I had here was absolutely wonderful. Took my girlfriend here for her birthday and she loved it. The food and the service was excellent, the servers were very helpful and knowledgeable of the menu and could answer any question you had. The ambiance was wonderful it was a very romantic. "I reserved a booth for my adult son's birthday. The service was attentive, friendly and helpful. The food was presented one dish at a time instead of having everything come at once. We were able to take our time and really enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant.
I had never eaten sea bass before and because of Buddakan's excellent attention to this fine fish, it has now become a new favorite of mine. Everyone left the restaurant extremely happy, full and wanting to know the next time we would do this again.
We will be back!!!"

"They took the beef lo mein off the menu which was, in my opinion, the best dish on the menu. Then they replaced it with a vegetable fried rice. The fried rice was fine by itself but they decided to be clever and top it with a coconut curry foam which had the flavor of tanning lotion. The creme brûlée was scorched leaving a propane flavor in the sugar. And the filet mignon was rare, not even medium rare, or medium as we had asked. The sevice at this place is nothing short of outstanding and will go out if their way to make you happy. If the waitstaff was my only reason for returning to s restaurant, I'd be here every night, but the food was 10x better last time we went... Not so great this time."

"The food was outstanding. The walk provides a nice place to wait if you don't have a reservation. The service was just "good" because it was restaurant week and the place was packed. We will be back."

"We celebrated date night at Buddakan and enjoyed it. Drinks were strong. The menu was pleasing to both our taste buds. We ordered the wasabi crusted filet mignon and chicken shrimp pad thai. The appetizer, crispy calamari salad is very good and got me eating my greens. Drinks were strong, which usually makes or break the night. We got the Zen-gria and Samuri cocktails. Ambiance is excellent and service is just right. We went on a Thursday night and the place was packed. Reservations recommended. As requested they were abel to seat us by the Buddha statue. Highly recommended!!"

"The service was excellent as my wife & I arrived a few minutes early and we were seated immediately. Also based on my last dining experience there I requested to be seated on the main floor & not upstairs and that request was granted. Our waitress was very friendly & attentive. The food was good but the cashew chicken that my wife orders every time that we eat there was definitely spicier than usual and the change was not noted on the menu. I liked it but it was a little bit too spicy for my wife & definitely prepared spicier than it used to be. Overall still a good dining experience."

"have been here many times before and normally really enjoy it - ordered all the same dishes as usual but they were inconsistent from how they were previously. they must have gotten a new chef. the food also supposedly comes out as it's ready but most of our food came out cold. i would not recommend."

"We had the tasting menu for 2, and everything was excellent. The staff was friendly and very accomodating. The appetizers were amazing (like edamame ravioli...the best), the filet melted in my mouth, and the desserts were great. As for the portion size, I'm a big eater, and I have to say the portions were more than generous. We both left full. I definitely recommend for a special occasion."

"Considering all the money we spent on drinks apps and dinners, overall it was good as usual. We come their once a month, but the 3 dishes that were made wrong probaly was $100 in food prepared wrong. We will be back, bc we love it there, but we were not as happy as usual, and wasted half of the food. All the apps n drinks came out perfect.
