Elegance reigns in the sunken dining room, where subdued lighting and light cream walls complement various hues of wood reincarnated from wine barrels. The menu, influenced by Stefano De Lorenzo's Northern Italian origins includes unusual appetizers like home-cured, thinly sliced duck breast with gorgonzola dressing and sea urchin rolls with Mediterranean seabass. For entrees, there is everything from homemade ravioli with foie-gras, duck and truffle sauce to braised lamb shank with mint, roasted tomatoes, garlic and Mediterranean olives.

"I had made reservations for 5:30pm and we were the first people there. The ambience was quiet, candle lit and romantic. Our waiter was very helpful, accommodating, and funny. The portions were a bit small so if you're looking for big portions then this is not the place for you. Overall, the food was excellent. The wine was even better! We had the octopus salad, gnocchi with mushrooms, and filet mignon ravioli. I would recommend this restaurant for any foodie."

"The service was fantastic from the moment we stepped in the door.
The food was good but not the most memorable. The wine list was full of
delicious choices and a plethora of amazing Italian wines. We went with our
server's suggestion. Which could have been steep, around $200-400 per bottle but
instead he suggested a delicious red around $50. It was nice to feel he
was going for the best wine for the meal rather than a big check.
It was a good experience overall but for the money, I've had better
tasting meals. I would go back for the wine list."

"This was a great little restaurant with a huge wine list and some delicious home-made pasta. Even though there were several large parties the atmosphere was still pretty calm and relaxed not totally our of control. The food was pretty delicious and the staff was very friendly."

"Just superbe - terrific service - incredible food. One of the best dining experiences we've had in LA. We would come back here in a heartbeat and recommend it to anyone. Excellent value for the price too - a delectable 6 course tasting menu for just $80 total and the portions were huge by comparison to most tasting menus. One of us did not do tasting, and had a delicious 2 course meal for less than that. Wine list was pricey but we brought one of our own for $20 corkage and still ordered a second that was very good and they recommended but not too expensive."

"The food was really good, however the prices were out of this world for what it was, far too expensive. The service was amazing... at first. After our entrees were served we did not see the waiter again for roughly 45 minutes, at which point he left the bill. We then did not see him again for 30+ minutes again. Overall, it was a nice place, but I would not go back anytime soon."

"Everything was top notch when our group of 3 arrived. The food was superb and everything was excellent. The place was very busy (I later found out it was dine LA week) but the staff still took great care of us. Stefano took fantastic care of us."

"Stefano is the best. He is so warm and friendly that it's like you're having dinner at his house. My wife and I had a six-course tasting menu and we found it impossible to rank the six dishes from most favorite to least favorite afterwards, all of them were so incredible. The paper-thin ravioli with Fontina cheese, truffles and butter sauce was especially revolutionary. We also told Stefano our price range for a bottle of wine and asked him to pick one for us that he would recommend. Not only did he pick one that was actually below our price range, but it was one of the best wines I've ever had (and maybe the best RED wine I've ever had). Forza Italia!!"

"We live in the area & had never tried La Botte before. Nice place. You can smell the wine seeping from the walls. The food was above average but the portions were small. We did the L.A. Dine menu for $44. The regular menu was a little steep. In our economy, quantity,quality & price are looked at and these price were much to high."

"We were almost 45 minutes late for our reservation, so take this with a grain of salt. However, the restaurant was clearly much busier than they had planned to be, accepting lots of walk-in guests and then compromising service for everyone involved. It took nearly half an hour to get water and a bottle of wine for the table, then another half hour before we saw any food. At over $500 for three people, it's an expensive place to dine."

"Terrible service..restaurant was understaffed. We waited approximately 30 mintes to get seated and the restaurant wasn't even busy. Once we were seated it took another 10-15 minutes to get water served. The food was fair-good but I had expected better. The ambiance was good."

"Food was decent, but not outstanding. The maitre d was very nice, and the waiter was extremely personable without being intrusive. I'd recommend the place for the service, location and ambiance, but I hope someday to be able to recommend this restaurant for its food as well."

"If you are searching for real Italian food, authentic Italian food this is THE place. The wine list is extensive (and expensive), nearly all Italian bottles. We shared four pastas. four appetizers and two desserts. All were simply delicious - Polipo (octopus) salad, purple artichoke and arugula salad, tortillini soup, squid ink linguini with crab, parpardelle with mushrooms and lamb! In summer, there is al fresco dining. The Italian wait people are charming and helpful, the dishes and glasses are sparkling clean, the decor is pleasing and the food is fantastic. Oh, and hot plates too. What more can anyone want? We won't make a trip to LA again without at least one visit to La Botte. Molto, molto buono."

"La Botte is a great Italian restaurant. The food is unbelievable and the owner, Stefano, will make you feel like you are home. Everything that I have tried on the menu has be impeccable. The duck prociutto is one the best dishes in town and literally melts in your mouth. This place is definitely a ++ for a date night or even a fancy dinner with the family. Wine list is top notch with selections for every price range. Incredible selection of Gaja."

"Excellent food. Go when you want a relaxed, Tuscan country-side-like evening. Do not go when you're in a rush. One weird criticism: why are there only about 5 songs on their repeating playlist?? If the food is taking slightly longer than average to come out, nothing emphasizes the slowness like having the same songs repeat over and over.

Overall this place is fantastic - a nice departure from the all glitz no substance Hollywood restaurant scene."

"We went for a business dinner for 8. Arrived early and the room was pretty empty but by the time we left the place was packed.Everyone was impressed - food, decor, wine list - and since so many were from the area but had never been to La Botte - it was a treat for all.Do not pass up the ravioli in the sage butter. So good that we allowed everyone to mop up the extra sauce with the incredible rosemary bread.Oh and the wine...how many bottles can 8 drink at one sitting? We will be back for more."

"We recently returned from Italy -- La Botte far exceeds even the best cuisine we encountered there. This is an optimal dining experience -- delectable tuna tartare, exquisitely prepared homemade pastas, melt-in-your-mouth branzino and sublime panna cotta and chocolate hazelnut desserts, among other exceptional dishes -- with the most attentive, friendly service around. You'd be hard-pressed to find anything comparable."

"The service was extremely slow, three hours for two apps and two entries, and they don’t care. The layout of the dark wood interior made the place feel larger than the typical Santa Monica cramped eatery, but the food was just average at best. Did I mention the lack of a full bar and the fake accents? Public parking is across the street at the library so don’t bother with the valet."

"This restaurant was recommended to me by a friend. I had 2 appetizers, neither of which was great (corn soup and tuna tartare), and the portion of tuna was small for the price. My guest thought the tuna was fair, and he enjoyed his pasta. The interior was very pleasant, and on a Monday night, it was quiet with just 7 tables filled. Given that, the service was poor. The waiter was knowledgeable about the dishes, but he was slow in taking our order, did not come to the table to check on us after the food was served, did not bring the check promptly, and did not remember the lemonade order for a beverage, etc. This was surprising given the supposed quality of the restaurant. I might or might not give it another chance."
