"Feels like you are in a little Italian ristorante. I made a meal out of a couple of appetizers, the beans & greens, which was delicious, and the day's special, shrimp-stuffed calamari, which was out of this world. Normally a 'stuffed' dish is too heavy for my taste, but the waiter had recommended, so I went for it, and it was an excellent recommendation: light, delicious, and just the right amount. Dining partner ordered the arugula salad, which he loved, and the tartufo flatbread, which was also (unexpectedly) not too heavy and cheesy. It would be nice if they had a wine by the glass that was a tad less pricey. Still: This is our new favorite restaurant downtown, esp as it is in quick walking distance to the theaters."

"This place fires on all cylinders!! From the fantastic cozy brick fireplace setting to a outstanding selection of apps to the specials that were prepared with fine attention to detail. "Tried Sienna on Saturday night and had a really nice dinner. The restaurant is charming and intimate. The tables outside are close enough that you can have an easy conversation with the guests around you but this did not bother us. A group might prove to be difficult.
The dinner service was very good with a relaxed feel. Attentive but not hovering.
Dinner was very good. The portions were described as small plates, meant to be shared. We had the salmon, gnocchi and one meatball. More than enough for the two of us, no leftovers because everything was delicious. We shared a dessert, a very good bottle of wine and relaxed.
Value-wise - a bit pricey for portion size but the quality of the food compensated for the this."

"I've dined at Sienna before and had good experiences. I was disappointed and even embarrassed this time when I took an out-of-town guest. The arugula salad arrived with soggy prosciutto wrapped cantaloupe on the bottom of a huge pile of greens. The main course (salmon) was not tasty either but the biggest problem was the service and the noise. After taking our order, the waiter did not return to check on us even though we tried catching his eye for 20 minutes. I've never felt so ignored in a restaurant. And the noise level was AWFUL! Music from the square was blaring in one ear and different music from the bar. Sienna may be trying for 'energetic' and 'youthful' for ambience but cacophonous is the current result. Won't return."

"So many times I've gone to restaurants that have the same menu options that I make at home. This restaurant has different twists on every phase of the meal. It was hard to decide what to order. Everyone at our table enjoyed a different meal and each item was full of flavor, presented beautifully and showed a real depth of kitchen creativity."

"We found Sienna on the Internet (we were visiting Pittsburgh and didn't know the restaurants there); the menu on the website sounded interesting, and reviews were good. Our dinners were excellent (sausage risotto/veal piccata), with reasonable portion sizes and good presentation; service was attentive and professional, even though the place was busy and the tables closely placed. Asa bonus, the wine list included one of our favorites, a Montipulciano d'Abruzzo from the Masciarelli Vineyards.
All in all, our visit to Sienna was an enjoyable and memorable experience. We would be pleased to dine there again if in Pittsburgh."

"We dined with another couple here on a recent Monday night. The place was busy and the service was excellent. Salads were good -- some had arugula, some Caesar. My husband's pasta with rabbit ragu was good, although he said the parsnips in the sauce gave it an odd flavor. My veal Milanese was not good -- and I've had this dish many places, including in Milan. The veal cutlet was coated with an odd sauce that caused the breading to fall off. It was served on gummy pureed potatoes and they placed the arugula on top of the dish instead of under the veal, as in the traditional preparation. I didn't care for it nor did another diner at our table. That said, we have eaten here before and will come back. Just won't order the veal Milanese!"

"Our table was at the ramp. My wife told the hostess she did not want to sit there. The hostess said "no one will bother us". every time, which was often, people were going up and down the ramp. Our conversation was interrupted every time. The noise level was very high, had a hard time hearing each other. The service was slow. Our server was Mike and he was very rushed and we felt when he was at our table he wanted to be at several others. My wife spilled some of her appetizer on the table and Mike picked it up with his hand. Our table was never cleaned. The portions were small but very good. I think the owners were often going up and down the ramp checking on the tables. that added to the amount of traffic on the ramp."

"Never disappointed at Sienna. Enjoyed a lovely meal full of new tasty treats from Chef Porco's kitchen. The stuffed squid with shrimp was the new addition and one that will keep me coming back for more. We shared the flatbread which is a must as a beginning. My main course was delicious baked salmon with eggplant. AMAZING!!! Wonderful drink menu with a never ending wine list. Sienna is an eating adventure that every Pittsburgher should experience. "I have eaten at Sienna about 6 times in the past 6 months. While I have typically had decent food and service, last night was different. I was with a vegetarian friend who attempted to order a dish without anchovies. The waiters response, on top of saying no, was that it "would not make the chef very happy to do this". I don't recall seeing this level orr arrogance from any restaurant I have eaten at-ever. I will not be going back."

"We are big fans of Chef Matthew Porco from his days at Mio in Aspinwall so it was a nice treat to find him now at Sienna. Everything was delicious but the greens and beans might just be the best in the city. The setting is warm and cozy on a cold night in Pittsburgh but we are anxious to return when we can enjoy the open setting in Market Square."

"Went for lunch with co-workers, our first visit. Atmosphere was very inviting and modern. Looked like a great place for drinks after work. We sat at a tall round top table...caution..be very careful getting down off extremely tall chairs. Co-worker broke her shoe on the long drop down and that was without any cocktails. 2 of us ordered the eggplant parm and both were chewey and the skin still left on was tough, not a big hit. We ordered the meatball appetizer to split since they raved about how amazing they were but they were not quite up to the high praise, the tomato sauce was the real winner. The spinach & ricotta pasta with leeks & pancetta was the best thing we ordered...delicious but quite expensive for lunch ($19)."

"This was our first visit to Sienna in Market Square. It is a small place and reservations are a must, esp on cultural event nights. It has a cozy, pleasant feel, and its menu is more Tuscan than typical southern Italian. Service was very hands-on and pleasant, and food was wonderful. For entrees, we had a braised veal cutlet in a wonderful sauce with mushrooms, rutabaga cream and braised leeks, and a spicy pasta dish. Great meal . . . will definitely return here."

"Restaurant was great. It is small but has a nice ambience and since we were there early we had the place to ourselves for a while. It started to get noisier as people started coming in. The grilled octopus was excellent as were the main dishes we ordered and our server was very welcoming and attentive. Can't wait to try the outdoor seating once the weather gets better. I would recommend it!"

"The atmosphere was casually elegant, and located right in the heart of Market Square in Downtown Pittsburgh. It was a 2 minute walk to Heinz Hall for the Symphony The food was masterfully prepared with explosions of different flavors with each course. The price was down right reasonable. Our server, Mathieu was a joy! So knowledgable,on the spot and genuinely friendly. He is from the south of France, with a fabulous accent, and serving at an Italian Restaurant, but it worked perfectly. Thanks Mathieu! You made a it a very memorable evening for Laura & I."

"My husband and I found the food at dinner tasty but overly salty. This was my experience the first time I ate there for lunch. I had to drink too much water at dinner and later to compensate. The service was very good and the waiter friendly. But we will not go back due to the salt. I hear they will have a great open seating area when the weather gets better. The place was full. Dinner was served promptly as requested as we had theatre tickets."
