Barolo Ristorante, located in the heart of downtown Seattle, offers a mix of timeless, old-world northern Italian dishes crafted with a contemporary presentation, using quality natural and organic products and ingredients, many from the Pacific Northwest. The wine list at Barolo includes more than 400 notable labels and varietals from around the world including Italy, California, Washington, Oregon and France. The restaurant also hosts a lively bar offering classic and specialty cocktails, over 40 kinds of grappas and late night dining. Set within a modern, urban building, Barolo’s smart Italian style is represented by lush textures, fabrics and ornamental design trends, merged with warm and comfortable accessories like hanging glass chandeliers over a large communal table, dark wood finishes, interesting interior lighting, and an abundance of flickering candlelight.
"We had an enjoyable evening with friends. Did not feel rushed, even though the restaurant was full. The food was very good. Brought our own wine for corkage fee of $25. Would recommend for special occasions."

"The staff and ambience were very good however our meals were not. Chicken was soaked in Oil and dressing were bland. My salmon was OK I've had better at Ivars for much less money and the potatos we bland. Not a repeat dinning local."

"I found Barolo when I needed a special restaurant in a town where I am a stranger, with food everyone likes (Italian). Everything was super, except the noise. Even if our little corner, with the overhead speaker turned off by the waitstaff, the noise level was too loud for detailed conversation. For us, it was especially acute as we were dining with my 85 year old mother, who wears a hearing aid and my nephews. Food was awesome and the service was the perfect combination of solicitous, informative, and unobtrusive. I would definitely recommend Barolo, but not for elderly who have hearing aids."

"Barolo was excellent as always. The food was fantastic, every bite worth savoring. And newer menu items (and great specials) make it hard to choose what to order! Of course, the cocktails and wine are also great. Barolo is great for a date or a group of friends. The service and food will not disappoint."

"We had an excellent overall experience at Barolo except for our table placement...a small 2 person table located in a main pathway for diners and servers. It was actually the second choice we were offered, the first choice being even worse. Everything else was laudatory, most especially our server Amber, who was a delight."

"Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. We ordered about 6 different dishes plus dessert. You have to try the veal and vanilla ice cream with olive oil!! All of our dishes were delicious! We had no complains at all. This is definitely a good italian restaurant to try when you're in Seattle~!!"

"Food was excellent, wine a bit pricey, service was good. The only thing I didn't like was that techno "music". It destroyed what could have been a more romantic evening. That might be enough to keep me away."

"What can I say?! The absolute best food and the service was amazing. A MUST eat-at place! The lamb rigatoni was amazing! Our new favorite restaurant in Seattle! (If you're from Vancouver and wondering what this compares to? This place is similar to CinCin's in food style but way more modern in atmosphere. A perfect match!)"

"I came here for lunch and it was awesome so I was excited about dinner but thought it was just ok. The calamari was pretty good and we loved the crab spaghetti but the lamb ragu penne was disappointing. The penne was tough (too al dente) and the lamb was overcooked. The ambiance was skewed by prom goers but overall it was nice and the service was very good."

"We went on the Mother's Day with the family. Waiter was very rude and never acknowledged that it was mother's day. Did not ask for drinks during the meal. Did not ask us for the desert and thank us in the end. Will never even consider going back to this restaurant again!"

"I went there as a Belgian foodie, without knowing the restaurant beforehand. I loved it so much that I went back the next evening. And I would go back again and again... Superb Italian food, with great wines in a modern, timeless interior with friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great experience!"

"This was by far one of my favorite dining experiences. I made reservations and included that this was for a friends birthday. Upon arriving to the restaurant I had to change my reservations, the staff understood and graciously accomendated my request. Once we got there I was pleasantly surprised by the setting, very upscale and romatic and cozy. Our waiter was excellent and very attentive. To celebrate the birthday the restaurant gave us menus that actually had "happy birthday" typed at the top. Such a nice gesture. All though the seating was close, I never felt like anyone was too close to intrude on our conversation. The lights were dim and we had a wonderful meal by candlelight. Great food, great service, extensive wine list!"

"Barolo had a good selection of dishes and a varied wine list. The four dishes selected by our party were all excellent and well portioned. The wait staff was attentive and well mannered, but not overbearing or intruding on us overly either. In all it was a comfortable place for a good dinner with friends on a Sunday evening."

"The food was above average. The halibut had a bit of a fishy taste to it...which is a no-no in the northwest. The pheasant gnocchi was the best item between the 6 of us."

"We had a great birthday dinner during restaurant week. Our server was wonderful, food yummy and atmosphere a hit. The menu was specially printed with Happy Birthday - a small effort but very welcome. The regular menu was very tempting and the prices seemed do-able. We'll go back. The zabaglione was the reason we chose Barolo - it is a favorite and hard to come by."

"We truly enjoyed our Restaurant Week dinner at Barolo. The special menu was varied and generous, the food and portions excellent. My Birthday was noted with a complimentary beer and festive dessert with candle; an unexpected treat with the discounted meal. The atmosphere was lovely. We'll certainly be back when next in the city."

"Exceptional food & wine. Our server was the epitome of professional: always there when we needed her, but never "hovering". This was my second time dining at Barolo, and both experiences were stellar. They occupy the space they have quite well; from a business perspective they would be even busier if the bar was larger!"

"We went for restaurant week. Our server was very gracious and accommodating of special requests. The food was magnificent. So much so that we decided to veer off the preselected menu and order off the main menu (which was a victory for both Barolo and ourselves. The seared tuna, the calamari and the beef carpaccio just made you need to sit back for a minute after you put them into your mouth and contemplate on all the flavors and texture going on in your mouth."

"I just went there for the restaurant week lunch special with colleagues. It was fantastic! $15 USD for calamari, gnocchi and chocolate mousse! Very good food. Great ingredients, taste and presentation! I plan to go there again and pay full price - for a special occasion of course."

"First time at Borolo and I would go again. Not the best Seattle Italian but near the top. Small bur excellent wine list. The dining room is long and narrow the puts you up against others and the wait staff has to carefully navigate the aisles. When full Borolo could get noisy the bar was full for happy hour. Overall our dining experience was a good one."

"The food was good. Octopus and calamari very well prepared. The grilled Romaine hearts with Caesar dressing was plenty for 2. The main entrees were not as generous as the appetizers. The fresh mozzarella and tomato with basil should not be served this time of year when the tomatoes are not good and ripe. It is discouraging for a customer. The dessert selected was the Poached pear with hazelnut gelato. It was hard to find it on the plate without a magnifying glass. If you do not drink wine with each course the service is not there, as was our case. Even with 4 appetizers, entrees and dessert, the service could have been better. Coffee came out microwaved and had to be sent back for "fresh coffee"."

"I went to Barolo during the Dine Around Seattle month for the three course lunch with a coupke of colleagues. The lunch was sublime. I had the octopus with chickpeas to start with a grilled halibut and couscous for the main dish and creme caramel for dessert. The atmosphere is upscale without being stuffy and the waiter was extremely charming. Had a wonderful time. Definitely plan o. Going back to try the hanger steak!"
