"For the most part Hotel Restaurants are just that, hotel restaurants! Not so with Urbana at the Palomar in D.C. I sat a Pizza bar (a favorite from past visits) and had the pleasure to meet Anthony the pizza chef. Clearly He loves his profession and FOOD and he loves to tell the patrons about their dinners which enhances the experience. I always take a book when dining alone but I always find the conversation with fellow dinners so engaging that I never read a page. I look forward to my next visit!"

"I noted in my reservation that we were celebrating a milestone birthday. The two hostesses and the waiter all wished me a happy birthday and they provided free champagne at the end of the meal. It was a very nice place to celebrate and we appreciated their effort."

"We had previously loved going to Urbana for bottomless brunch. The waiters were enthusiastic and generous with the champagne. We loved the juice bar with 8 options of juice puree to mix with your champagne. We always took friends from out of the town there. Unfortunately, we went this Saturday and learned that they did not have the bottomless brunch, and charged by the bottle. We only had the option of 3 juices, and our waiter was not very polite, and did not tell us that they stopped serving drinks at 3pm (our reservation was for 2pm), even though he knew we had originally wanted bottomless. It was also half-full and quiet, while it was packed before. We will sadly not return to Urbana for brunch anytime soon, and we will miss it!"

"We went to Urbana because we were staying at the hotel next door. The food did not disappoint, though it wasn't really memorable. The bread was very good (I consider that important!). I had the frisee salad, which was excellent, and the fish stew, which was well prepared. Our waiter was very helpful, and when he got caught up attending to the needs of a large party nearby, another waiter came to make sure we didn't need anything."

"A group of 12 consisting of college buddies and our wives met for dinner at Urbana. I was expecting mediocre based on some reviews i had read, but the opposite was true. The food was excellent. The people sitting near me had the swordfish, totellini, and i had the cannelloni. All said "very very good". Good appetizers, tasty desserts, and good food for a decent price. We would definitely recommend Urbana again when in the DuPont Circle area."

"Such an awesome brunch place! The food is good, nothing crazy special but there isn't anything I have tried that I didn't like. What makes this a spot worth going to for brunch is the make your own mimosa/bellini deal. For just under 19 dollars you get unlimited champagne during brunch hours and you can choose the puree you want to try, or mix a few together. Flavors are beyond the basic OJ, and include mango, cherry, peach, blood orange, passionfruit etc depending on the day. Definitely worth trying!"

"For a bottomless mimosa weekend brunch, Urbana is a fun place to be. I wish the food portions on the breakfast-y dishes were a little bigger, but the pizza was delicious, and hit the spot after my friend and I had enjoyed three hours of hanging out, trying all the different mimosa combinations, and catching up. The servers didn't try to hurry us along and were fairly responsive, and I really enjoyed the juice selection (along with the blanc de blancs that kept coming as long as we asked). Definitely will return with more friends!"

"I'm looking at the good for groups sections and I would probably say under 7. The food and service was amazing. I heard that it was very busy during brunch (we were there on Easter). If you eat dinner early, meaning before 7pm, there is a few people in the restaurant. I also hear that area starts the dinner rush later in the day than most. Can I say the food was great? You are looking out onto P street. It was rainy so no outdoor eating that day."

"We enjoyed the food but were perplexed by inaccurate info on Urbana's website and indifferent service. We had reservations for lunch but were invited to sit on a couch in the lounge area by the bar. Although the online menu indicated that there were flavored iced teas available as beverages at lunch, the server said that all they had was plain iced tea. Also, no cocktails at lunch - only beer and wine. Finally, there is a dessert menu on the website, but we were informed that there was only one dessert choice at lunch. Bottom line - food good, front of house bad."

"This is my second Sunday in a row for brunch! I'm not a big red meat eater but I had a craving for a burger. I passed on the omelet for an angus burger and fries. So glad I did!!! Probably one of the best burgers in DC I've had in a while, and the quality of the meat was superb. It wasn't heavily seasoned and I didn't have to drown it in ketchup. Urbana is now on my official list of go to brunch spots in DC.
If you opt for street parking plan to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your reservation because you will have to circle around for a while to find parking. There is valet for hotel Palomar but sometimes they are full."

"My party was celebrating a birthday during Sunday brunch. Food was good but the service from Evereth wasn't good. On several occasions we had the scan the restaurant to find him to attend to us. He was rude to one of the guests who asked for their bill separately because they had to leave early. Thankfully, we were in the enclosed room and was able to close the doors, because the noise level in the restaurant was high. It was hard to hold a conversation over it.

"Very disappointed...had a reservation for a Friday night and had to leave...very, very loud and were told by our wait person, it would take two hours to get any kind of mixed drink or even an tomato juice. We were even staying at the Kimpton Hotel."

"Very good food. I'lll go again. The only down side was the bus boys stacking as many dishes on their arms as possible. Earnest service but not as professional as one would expect. It's a nice restaurant don't service like its a finer."

"Tried Urbana after reading all the glowing reviews. What an awful evening! If you're looking for a happening spot, don't mind screaming at the top of your lungs to be heard, and are happy with pizza and mediocre (and overpriced) cocktails, this is the place for you. If you are looking for a well-prepared, tasty meal. Stay away!"

"The food was nothing to write home about and while the service at the restaurant may be fine generally, my server seemed annoyed to assist with any request (mainly, requests for lemon and the dessert menu). The bread, which you will only receive once you have ordered (likely because that was the most enjoyable part of my meal), was my highlight. I won't be going back anytime soon."

"I've dined at Urbana 3 times in the past 2 months. It's become my absolute favorite brunch spot in DC (considering that I live in VA, it is very much worth the trek). "Very nice atmosphere. Good for a business dinner or for bringing a date. I have mixed reviews for the food. My date and I started of with calamari. It was on the smaller portion size and in my opinion was just average tasting (not bad but not great). For dinner, we shared the Tortelloni which was VERY good and I highly recommend it. We shared the sirloin steak. The steak was average (felt like i could do better in my own kitchen). It seemed like it was lacking additional flavors. The poached pear dessert was light and refreshing. The service was certainly above average. Will I go back? I'm not sure..."

"We made a reservation a month in advance and the restaurant was rather unprepared for us: we were taken to a very poor table, completely on the whim of the greeter. Our waitress readily agreed to a change, and service was thoughful and attentive from then on. The food was very good but hardly off the charts: both my wife and I had the grilled duck breast. It was an imaginative recipe and it was well prepared. It was restaurant week: many customers and I am sure the kitchen was busy."
