"I had the quail and my wife had the portabella mushroom entrees and they were both fantastic. I felt more like I was in New Mexico than I have at times visiting restaurants in Albuquerque of Santa Fe. It was a great find and we will return on our next trip to Hilton Head."

"Santa Fe Cafe' is a must for anyone visiting Hilton Head. 3 of us had the "combination platter" which included a yummy Chile relleno stuffed with goat cheese and lightly fried to perfection. Also a wonderful tamale and enchilada were offered. We also had the "Painted Desert Soup" that was not only delicious but a sight to behold...and take a picture of. The topshelf margaritas are pricy but well worth it. I would come back in a minute, recommend to everyone, and dram about that chile for a long time!

"We love Santa Fevut unfortunately the food this time did not live up to standards. The Rib eye burrito was tough and grissly We should have sent it bak as the meet was virtually inedible. The rest of our entrees were delicious."

"Santa Fe Cafe is our favorite restaurant on HHI. We have been going there every year for over 10 years now...sometimes we will even eat there twice in one week :) Food is always delicious! Our favorite dish is the Outrageous Chimichanga. Be warned - portions are huge! Entrees can definitely be split. You won't be disappointed if you eat at Santa Fe!"

"Food was wonderful. The Painted Desert Soup is a must for everyone. Was disappointed not to be outside. When we called for seating we were told we would be seated by the door but moved outside if possible. There were empty tables outside the whole time we were there. We did take our coffee to the outside seating later.
The noise level was fine except for the gentleman at the table beside us. Seemed to be bothering his table companions as much as us.

"We had a lovely meal at Santa Fe. We are both foodies AND vegetarians, and it is rare to find a restaurant that treats vegetarian and meat entrees with the same care. Santa Fe had several options for entrees, salads, soup, and sides, although only salsa and guacamole as appetizers. We love to share with each other, so it is great when there is more than one option (and even better when that option isn't Fettuccine Alfredo or the dreaded Vegetable Medley). The mushroom enchilada was flavorful and not encased in cheese; the tamale was a bit crumbly, but was such a nice complement to the meal, and the chile relleno was decadent. The wine list was a nice addition. The presentation of the dishes was wonderful."

"We have been coming to Hilton Head for vacation for over 20 years and Sante Fe has been has been delivering consistently since our first visit. We find a friendly casual atmosphere, excellent food, large portions- possibly a little too large - and great service. My family is a "foodie" family and we are very particular - we would highly recommend Santa Fe for a wonderful dining experience."

"Santa fe was an amazing experience. It was a rainy night so unfortunately we didn't get to sit outside, but there was plenty of seating inside. Our waiter Luke was very knowledgable about the menu and any other questions we had. He had a wonderful personality without being intrusive. I would advise any customer to request him, though im sure the whole staff is great. This was my first experience at santa fe but i can say with certainty that it wont be my last."

"My son and I ate here later on a Sunday evening, after a day of golf. Soft lighting and the faint smell of a wood fire made for a very welcoming ambience. There were other patrons there at the time but it was still relatively quiet.
Our waiter was friendly and attentive throughout our meal. We had the Outrageous Chimichanga and the Roast Free-range Chicken. Both were delicious. Portions were large enough that we couldn't finish. The whole experience could not have been better."

"We have eaten here many times over the past few years, yet mostly for lunch. This time we ate dinner and none of the 4 of us had very much positive to say about the dinner or the service. I think maybe the menu has changed, and the prices have gone up to unreasonable. I had scallops that were over spiced, my husband had marinated chicken (which I tasted and would not have continued to eat), another person in our party had a $26.00 burrito that she picked the steak out of and ate it, and I'm not sure what the other person ordered. (She was polite and didn't say anything.)

"I never write reviews, but here it is. I'm a local and have only occasionally eaten at Santa Fe Cafe. Until now. My daughter wanted to go there a few days ago, so we went. What a great meal! I'd forgotten how wonderful their food is. Then the very next day, I had a business dinner. We used opentable and they had a reservation available at the right time, and although I didn't really want to eat at the same restaurant two days in a row, I did. And, I'm sooo happy that I did. I got the pork tenderloin on the first night, awesome. And I got the chimichanga on the second night, just as awesome. Great place, great ambiance, great food, great owners!"

"Food has a marvelous presentation, taste was good but a bit spicy . Portions were minuscule for the price and I had to eat when I went home. The entree came out before we were done eating the soup. Our waiter disappeared after we were served and we didn't get water refills until we were almost done the meal..almost like our waiter was now trying to become friendly for the last several minutes to sell a dessert and get a good tip."

"We have been here several times and never disappointed. Our server was on top of things and all the food came out with a steady flow and absolutely delicious. We would travel for just the guacamole and churros. The place is busy so always good to make reservations. :)"

"Our server was attentive without being annoying or intrusive. Very cheerful and pleasant. We have always had excellent food. We introduced a new couple to the restaurant and they were pleased as well. The special prix fixe menu was great because we could have the Painted Desert soup as well as a reasonably sized entree, plus churros for dessert. We look forward to going back."

"We went there on the 13th of February because we knew we'd have to bring our daughter (3) with us. I noted as much on our reservation. We were tucked away in the upper level on the corner. The food was great. There is no children's menu to speak of, so if you're bringing your kid, probably best to plan on sharing your dinner with them. They gladly offered us an extra plate. My daughter ate all of my painted desert soup. Which, is amazing. I wish I could have enjoyed more of it. We were too stuffed for dessert, but it looked amazing. We've been there before and would be back again for a special occasion. It's not cheap, but worth the price if you are up for a special night out."

"Did not live up to any expectations. I did not even finish my dinner and left hungry because the taste was just not good. I would have expected that kind of flavor from a Chilis or something, but not this resturant with these prices. For what I paid for 2 dinners and one appetizer, I was super disappointed. Would not recommend to anyone who enjoys good food. The waitress was nice, but the food was awful and I felt the affects for days."

"We had a fabulous meal and everything was 5 star from the food to the service. Our waitress, Dezirae, was top notch!! Very friendly, personable, helpful with food suggestions and she went over and above to make it a wonderful evening. Very romantic for our 35th wedding anniversary..Dezirae served us our dessert by the fireplace since we were the last ones there. We ate outside on the beautifully decorated southwest terrace and stayed nice and warm by the portable heat lamp. We have been there three times now, and each time, we are so impressed by the incredible food with wonderful flavors and beautiful presentation! Highly recommend for a special occasion or any meal. Our favorite place so far on the Island!"

"Appreciated our lady server who was enthusiastic and genuine. Great queso as an appetizer, and unique and special entrees. Most of enjoyed the Chimichangas, and the Quail and Salmon were well presented and appreciated. With a downstairs table and the bar becoming more crowded, the noise level did pick up. "We have been to Santa Fe several times in the past 9 mths.. Generally, we like the food and ambience.
This last time prompts us to write a comment regarding the "restaurant week" specials & the wait staff. The food is good (and painted soup is excellent) it is not any "special". The price for the 3 courses appears good ($24) but they cut the portions significantly. Bowls to cups, entrees in half & churros for dessert(cheap to make.). Truthfully, 3 courses was enough food if you are watching your portion sizes. we just felt you were not getting anything "special"... Price, food or service.. To top it off, on all three visits we found the wait staff very busy and somewhat arrogant.
We like the atmosphere and food off the regular menu."

"Food we had on Sat night was great but we had a problem that makes us rethink our choice of restaurants next time we are in Hilton Head. We had a member of our party who was Vegan. At any other restaraunt we have been to, they were most accomadating and had no problem preparting her a veggie plate. Not the case Sat night at Santa Fe. Our server just point blank said "no, we can't do any of these entree without cheese". I would have expected her to at least check with the chef to see if any of them could have been prepared without dairy. So she ended up with a salad and a veggie plate that was poorly plated and she was very dissapointed with her experience."
