"Third time at the restaurant. Unfortunately one of my party's swordfish was overcooked and dry so had to be replaced, which messed up the meal timing, etc, but they fixed it efficiently and mgr came over also which was a nice touch. Other than that, the food was great quality. It was a Saturday night and by close to ten pm, and the place had emptied, so a fairly quiet atmosphere if you hang around chatting, but that's standard for this town. Definitely will be back there, still a great evening, and also as its close to work and the cocktails at the Intercontinental. Outside bar area could be a gem in the summer too."

"Decor is masculine, but here you don't feel hammered by it -- no stuffed buffalo heads staring from the walls, and there are even large floral arrangements tastefully placed. Also a distinction is the noise level: although there was a healthy amount of ambient conversation/bar noise, we were never interrupted or distracted. But what is really unique is the service: waiters are attentive, welcoming, completely versed on every facet of the menu, able to explain the ingredients, preparation and meaning of every menu item, and they seem to have memorized the wine list. The waiters are helpful without being obsequious, give good advice, and make you feel comfortable. The food, which is pricey, is expected to be 5-star, and it meets expectations."

"Our bartender messed up 3 out of 5 drinks And Youhad a major attitude about it. I would not recommend this place especially for the money you will spend. Our food was not bad, but 2 of the steaks were overlooked and one of the fish entrees was doused in peppercorn."

"We went for a the graduation celebration for Dr. Coogan and the food was outstanding, appetizers, sides and the various steaks our party ordered were some of he best I've ever eaten. Our server was Mike, server #5. The reason I can easily recall his name and even number is due to the outstanding service. Suggestions, depth of knowledge concerning every aspect of the menu as well as memorization of the wine and scotch menu, he was personable when spoken to yet never intruded. And he kept an astute eye on the table without making his presence known, perfect timing for everything from water refills to the check. A+"

"We arrived late for our reservation by almost thirty minutes due to bumper to bumper traffic on the Mass Pike. I called the restaurant and was told not to worry and that it would not be a problem. When we arrived we had 1 drink at the bar which was lively and were served home made potato chips. Chris our bartender could not have been nicer. We were seated in less than ten minutes. The service and food was outstanding. Everyone absolutely loved their meals. This is a more expensive than your average restaurant for sure but it is in line with the better steak houses. Really is a special treat to eat here but don't save it for just special occasions!If you get chocolate cake for dessert, order 1 for the table. It is insanely huge!!"

"For a steak house that believes it can command prices in the $30 - $50 range for a hunk of meat on a plate, S & W should reevaluate the quality of its servers. Our server, Joshua, who thanked us at the end of our meal saying "it was nice talking with you and getting to know you" (???!?!?!) was inexperienced and, most importantly, a terrible listener. He screwed up three specific food requests, including one that was due to a medical condition. He did not even apologize for a single one of them. He was awkward and inappropriate. Really turned me off to the entire experience."

"Beautiful decor with tables spread out enough that we didn't feel like we were on top of our neighbors. We were delivered to our table by the very friendly maitre d, who carried our drinks, to a well set yet simple table. First course appetizer fantastic - tuna on Himalayan salt block - tuna was fresh and delicious, veg garnish a light and tasty accompaniment. S & W Salad was light and full of flavor. Steaks...oh the steaks..melt in your mouth, full, oaky, juicy and cooked absolutely perfectly. Dessert, which was on the house for a birthday, was the biggest piece of choc cake I've every seen - Delish. The service was unparalleled - attentive without being over bearing. Fresh silverware with each course! Never felt rushed. Bravo!!!"

"Took my wife there for diner, Overall I was slightly dissapointed. Very little ambiance, we both had bight lights shining directly on our heads, lighting in general should be toned down. Steaks we're good, nothing outstanding or noteworthy, lobster with the surf & turf was over cooked and dry. Waiter seemed disengaged and uninterested, asked for lemon wedges in waters when we placed drink order, had to ask two more time before we got them. Overall the experiance was just okay."

"Not being a "steak house" person, I must say S & W do a great job. The food was excellent, the portions generous and the sides well done, except for the mashed potatoes which were below par. I would like to see just one steak house eliminate the $$$ sides so patrons can order specifically what they prefer. Family style is not my thing, especially in an expensive restaurant. The sauces, generally are not up to the quality of a fabulous steak. It always makes me wonder if they are made "in house" or a concentrate. The service was terrific and the chocolate cake, which could easily feed 4, was to die for."

"Officially now my favorite steakhouse...I had the rib eye, medium rare of course and it was exquisite. The table shared creamed spinach, mushrooms and whipped potatoes. "By far the worst dining experience I've had in a very long time. Veeerrry slow, unattentive service. "Foie gras" mushroom burger turned out to be just the regular burger except with mushrooms and a "duck pate sauce". That's like ordering lobster mac n' cheese on the menu but only to find out that it doesn't have lobster; instead the chef created lobster broth with lobster carcass and mixed that broth in the with cheese. Highly, highly deceptive! The lettuce in the cesar salad was soggy, almost as if it had been sitting in the kitchen with the dressing for some time. I expected way more than this from an establishment like Smith & Wollensky. Wasted two hours of my life there, and I'm never going back!"

"Most comfortable bar chairs in the city enhanced very good martinis. Had the coffee and cocoa rubbed filet which was perfectly cooked and my wife had the rack of lamb which was a generous portion, also perfectly prepared. Split pea soup had a nice bit to it.

Expresso Martinis and steaming pot of coffee left on the table finished a great meal. Service was very professional, understated, but always available.

Can't wait to try outside patio in a few weeks Our first time there and it won't be the last."
