"I'm writing this review solely to recommend the mushroom mac and cheese. No it's certainly not healthy but it's to die for. Next time I would probably get it for my meal (it's a side but big enough for a meal) because it was so amazing. Very cheesy and delicious.
Great experience overall at Unum. Not severely overpriced and just a good classic restaurant (Georgetown certainly could use a few more). Not the most incredible food in DC but I enjoyed it. Also got the burrata arugula salad and the gnocchi, both of which were great."

"This is the kind of restaurant that makes me want to move! We were the first diners, and chose an alcove, which made for a private dining kind of experience. The staff was extremely friendly, welcoming and professional, and our server was all of those and thoroughly knowledgable in the wine list and menu. Her recommendations were perfect! Of course this would not have been possible had the food not been exceptional. We can't wait until our next trip to D.C. to go back!"

"We were in DC for business and decided to take part in the Georgetown scene. We were visiting from LA and our first time in Georgetown. Nice town, nice restaurant. It was a nice respite to get out of the heat and humidity outside. The food was excellent. The service was cordial, but not quite what I'd call inviting or welcoming. We found the restaurant service in DC to be that way. We chalked it up to being an East Coast thing. Nevertheless, we had a great time at Unum."

"We picked Unum from online reviews for restaurants in the area we wanted to visit, we had never been there before. We were immediately shown to our table, from our reservation, and our waiter was prompt and attentive throughout our visit. He also described a few menu items we were not familiar with, and helped our daughter select a white wine. In all, we had a great time, and really enjoyed the half-size entrees, which allowed us to select and share more things than we would have been able to otherwise."

"We met friends who came in from NYC to eat with us at UNUM and it far surpassed any expectations of a good dinner.
We were seated immediately, and without a moments delay we were taken care of and it didn't end until we said good night.

"This was the fourth time I've been to Unum in a little over a year and I was not disappointed. The food is excellent, nicely done without being overly complicated (as is too often the case in places that strive for sophistication). The beet salad, in particular, was outstanding. I appreciate that they offer half portions, so we could put together a several course meal without eating (or paying) too much. The atmosphere is pleasant and intimate, without excessive noise. This time we met the very personable owners. We will look forward to going back again."

"After reading the reviews, I chose to dine at Unum which proved to be a good restaurant in Georgetown but it did not blow me away. The short rib pasta was tasty but not as good as I have had elsewhere. The noise was louder than I would have preferred given it was a business dinner which made hearing my guest rather difficult. Service was very good as staff constantly checked on us and the food was brought out promptly which was great."

"Very cute restaurant. So cool that they have half portions. We ordered five mains off the menu--four half portions and one full--for three of us because we wanted to try a bunch of things. The pastas left something to be desired, but the other mains were great. I would go back and give it another try at some point."

"Ordered a beefeater martini with a twist. A martini with olives was delivered and after one sip I knew it was the wrong gin. When the waiter came back to the table I asked him to ask the bartender what gin he used. Waiter returns to say "we were out of beefeater so he used something else." Really? Since I was paying for the drink might I have been in lured in this decision making process? Service on the whole was very weak. No cutlery when it was needed most, no condiments repeatedly asked for. Cheeseburger with unmelted cheese? Who's running this place?"

"No greeting upon arrival.Was rushed thru dinner and out the doorOur entrees were delivered to another table causing a significant delay. We were then rushed try the meal and abruptly told the kitchen was closing so we had to order dessert immediately. Noise was deafening.I live literally around the block from Unum and I'm looking for a neighborhood place to take friends. I had a guest in from Paris and this experience was rather embarrassing. I won't return."

"Was excited to try the oysters three ways that was on the website's menu, but was told they had stopped offering that dish. I liked the half entrees so we could sample several items. My short-rib pasta was good but mostly pasta and disappointingly very little meat. Mac and Cheese was great. Gnocchi was on par. Cocktails were interesting and tasty.
Ultimately the food was not as good as I expected; but it was still good at a very reasonable price. The staff was great and it was an enjoyable spot to which I would return."

"Not really sure what the hype is about. It's good. But no 5 stars good. The pasta with short braised rib was pretty tasty and not too heavy, my friend's rock fish was meh, just ok. I had a pear something or other salad that was way too bitter. This is a nice place I dont regret going to...but not one that makes me yearn to return."

"The food was excellent; the service slow; the waiter not very friendly; and the noise terrible: We were in the alcove next to a happy foursome. They were loud, but not unusually so. The alcove trapped and magnified their noise. It was deafening,painful. Two people in our party had headaches by the end of the evening. I asked if we could be seated elsewhere but nothing was available. DON'T ACCEPT SEATING IN THE ALCOVE!"

"What a disappointment. The hype on this restaurant far exceeds reality. The food was average in taste and quality, but with a hefty price tag. The service was very mediocre. We had a group of 7 and the waiter barely gave us any attention. You would think with a $600 bill the waiter would be a little more attentive! There are numerous good places to eat in DC. After you've tried them all, maybe, just maybe, go to Unum. Or maybe not!"
