Johnny V
Johnny V opened in December of 2003 and features the unique cuisine of Chef Johnny Vinczencz. The food is Regional American with Latin and Caribbean influences. Chef Vincencz combines the freshest ingredients of South Florida with a beautifully blended selection of spices from the Caribbean and South America. The result is a wide ranging menu of unique items, like blue corn crusted calamari and ancho cinnamon grilled pork tenderloin. Sporting bold compositions and beautiful presentations, the cuisine at Johnny V is like a trek through America's Heartland by way of the islands. The Chef and his staff have worked had to make dining in this restaurant an elegant adventure.
The restaurant has received numerous accolades including 4 stars from the Miami Herald, 4 Stars from the Sun-Sentinel and Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence. In 2005, it was voted #1 of the top 100 restaurants in the Sun-Sentinel as well as Best New Restaurant in Conde Nast Traveler.

"We have eaten here a few times when we attend a show at The Broward Center for the Performing Arts ..
They are only a 5-10 minute drive from the theatre. We make the server aware of our time restraints and they always do right. The service is always excellent. This particular visit I tried some new dishes. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy as much. My husband and I have many favorites and we both agreed to stick with those. They have an incredible Appetizers menu. I could just order a bunch of them without ordering a main course. Try the Portabello Shortstack...Amazing....the fried calamari ..Bacon and Eggs,,,mussels...and for main course..the Snapper or Grouper or Mahi are always outstanding.

"We enjoyed a pre-theater dinner with a party of five. The food was amazing, not a single dissapointment. The "Wild Mushroom Short Stack" appetizer and "Duck Duck Duck" and a beautifully spice porck chop were highlights. Creative cocktails and attentive service also enhanced the experience.
Can't wait to visit Johhny V's again!"

"We were not happy with the level of service, food quality, and prices. At the beginning of the meal, the waiter was attentive but after the first 15 minutes, completely forgot we were there. To make matters worse, the kitchen also forgot to put our order in and after waiting for one hour, the manager noticed the problem and apologized for the problem. In an order to service our forgotten meal, they rushed to make our order only to serve us inferior food for some of the highest prices in Las Olas.
The manager did apologize several times, but by then the meal had been ruined by the long wait and we did not want to make it even longer by returning plates to the kitchen to be remade. Overall it was a very poor experience."

"I have been going t Johnny V's for years on my visits to Ft. Lauderdale. Always wait for an outdoor table and people watch during dinner. The food and service is outstanding and very consistent. "Based on Johnny's love of cheese we tries a cheese plate. There are numerous choices. We were very happy with ours. Plate includes a martini glass of fabulous garlic olives, grapes and candied walnuts. We also tried blue calamari. Some of the best calarmari we every tasted. Great location on Las Olas. Service was very good. Definitely recommend for a celebration meal."

"My grouper was just OK. Not the grouper I remembered from my last trip to Florida. Didn't taste like grouper or look like grouper. Also the server never got the wine list to my side of the table so I was ordering wine blindly. Another of our group had to send back her short ribs because the first serving wad all fat. The second serving wasn't much better. We opted for Jaxon's in Dania beach for dessert."

"After a not so pleasant experience with the hostess, our evening improved every minute. The servers were friendly and prompt and the food, with the exception of on special starters, was delicious. Our favorites were the mushroom short stack, the vegetable and mozzerella stack, the mussles, antipasto platter and the cheeses! If you like cheese courses, then this restaurant is heavan as they have a global, two page cheese selection and a good wine selection to compliment them. Suggest you sit on the patio or in the front portion near the bat as there is a back room with zero atmosphete which wouldn't be too pleasant a place to be stuck for a good meal."

"The hostess and wait staff were wonderful - friendly and accommodating. They provided great service without hovering. Have to love a place that has Cheese Whiz on the extensive cheese menu (they don't really have it on hand but obviously have a great sense of humor). We enjoyed our cheese plate which also came with delicious pecans, olives, grapes, bread, and a creme cheese spread. We dined outside and loved it. My kids (11 & 12) found entrees they liked, although we did change some of the sides which was done without any problems (the aged white cheddar au gratin was delicious). It was a fantastic evening for the four of us."

"We were very disappointed in our brunch. My meal, the cream cheese stuffed French toast, was good. My husbands short rib eggs Benedict was fair...very little short rib. My bellini, at $15 was way over priced....But the biggest problem was that it took more than 45 minutes to get our food. Brunch cost us about $80 with tax and tip...not worth it!"

"Service was better this time compared to my last visit in December.
Overall the food seems to have fallen off since my first visit in November 2011. My boss seemed to have the same impression, Johnny V is his favorite establishment in Ft Lauderdale and he always makes sure to stop in when in town.
Overall a good dining experience, just seems to come up short of the greatness one would expect."

"I dine here whenever I am in Ft. Lauderdale, the food is always superb. My only complaint is that I visit here twice a year on vacation and the menu has not changed. The mussels app is a must, outstanding, I had the beef short ribs and they were to die for. My wife had the Mahi, tasty. The food is excellent but even the staff said it should change more frequently. The service was excellent. If you have not had the food I highly recommend you try the restaurant. For me, I might try somewhere else in town next time, if menu does not change!"

"The food was amazing. Perfect portions (Although I could've eaten more), pleasantly surprised by the serving size. Usually when you go to a restaurant of this caliber the portions are small. Again it was delicious, loved the yellowtail snapper! My husband's filet mignon was perfect. We also loved the Lobster, Lobster, Lobster appetizer, and the two compliments of the chef! Although he didn't come to our table, we saw how nice and humble the chef was as he came out from the kitchen from time to time."

"Had requested a patio table for 3 people on a Friday night. When we arrived our table was ready right in the middle of the patio! Our servers, Justin & Katrina, didn't rush our evening giving us ample time to enjoy a cocktail, peruse the menu, and they answered all of our questions. My Cosmo, prepared by one of the bartenders Samantha, was one of the best I've had in a while. The general manager helped us in selecting a fabulous Russian River Pinot Noir to accommodate all of our palates. It was such a great experience we took a group of 10 for their Sunday Brunch. Cap'n Crunch Chicken & Waffles and bottomless Mimosas... need I say more? We will be back!"

"I keep giving this place a chance but the three times I have been here I was not impressed with the food. The ambiance is good and there is late dining but overal I wouldn't recommend this place. I have heard good things about Johnny V's and that the food is great but I personally have yet to experience this."

"We have lived in South Florida for 14 years and have eaten at the so called "BEST" restaurants in South Florida. Every time they have failed to meet our expectations in at least one area, Johnny V however was "AMAZING" in every area and exceeded our expectations. It started with our waitress Katrina Bischoff, she greeted us with a smile and was very attentive and pleasant as she served us throughout the night. She brought us a small cup of tomato soup "compliments" of the chef, the soup was "delicious" with a capital D. We ordered Long Island Ice Teas, my compliments to the bartender. We ordered the Blue Corn Crusted Calamari appetizer, "tremendous". My wife had the Ancho Cinnamon Pork and I had the Yellow Tail "special", they "rocked"!"

"This was the first time I lunched at Johnny V's and I was not disappointed. We all enjoyed our dishes... wonderful smokey tomato bisque coup, the juicy chicken on top of the salads and the great seared tuna appetizer that was most attractively served. Our only criticism was that there was no bread available since the delivery was later in the afternoon."

"Food was OK, didn't blow me away like it used to. Went for brunch with girlfriends and even though it was not packed the service was slow. We paid for all you can drink mimosas which were mostly OJ since after having 4 we didn't even have a buzz, and towards the end waitress didn't even bother coming around to refill our glasses. Probably won't do brunch there again."

"I work on Las Olas and dine at Johnny V occasionally for lunch. Food has always been excellent, but last evening experienced a bit of a hiccup with the order. Short ribs were good as always for my sig other, but it appeared that my grouper might have been sitting out on a heat lamp or such because it was very dry and temp was a bit lukewarm. Manager and waiter apologized for the issue and provided a complimentary glass of wine - appreciated the gesture. It seemed like it was one of those "late night" events (we actually finally began eating at 11:00) that probably wouldn't have occurred earlier in the evening. Still enjoy Johnny V and will dine there again."

"We went for their Sunday Brunch. The menu had lots of selections. I ordered a fish taco that was terrific. My husband had a burger with blue cheese and caramelized onions. My guest had a poached egg over short ribs. We all loved our meals. Everything coming out of the kitchen looked awesome!"
