The Grill at Highland Row
The Grill at Highlands Row is a locally owned and operated steak and seafood restaurant featuring sophisticated Southern cuisine.
The unique menu reflects the restaurant"s commitment to the Knoxville and East Tennessee area. The Grill's steak options include locally raised, all natural grass-fed beef, as well as prime cuts and our Butcher Block selections. The bread is made by Knoxville-based Hogan's Bakery, cheeses are from Sweetwater Valley, and the Elk Burger is made from elk farm-raised in Morgan County. In addition, The Grill offers a wide variety of diverse seafood options including shrimp and grits, award winning crab cakes, a traditional 'High' country seafood boil, and fresh Carolina trout.

"Our party of 5 was down to 4 by the time we arrived. The hostess had no problem switching us to a booth at our request. The restaurant was mostly empty, due to the late hour (8:45 reservation), which meant we had the undivided attention of Holly, our server. The service was very good and Holly was both knowledgeable and engaging-making recommendations for us and telling us about the restaurant (we were visiting from Cincinnati). She was there when we needed her, but never intrusive by hovering over us-the sign of an excellent server! If you are lucky enough to get her as your server, you will not be disappointed! The one drawback-the elk burger was not available and had not been for some time. Maybe the menu should be updated?"

"Everything was wonderful! My husband said the grouper was delicious perfectly paired with the bacon. My shrimp and grits were also delectible! The desserts were also magnificent - flourless chocolate cake and the fruit with chambray were absolutely special.
It was a lovely night for us and we thoroughly enjoyed it! We will be back again (we have dined there before and knew it would be great) Thanks again for a truly spectacular meal and ambiance! Our waitress (Holly) was also special!"

"Bored with the Ktown restaurant choices & hadn't been to Highland since shortly after it opened. Steaks were tender & well prepared. Asparagus just as requested. Salads very fresh. Brought my own wine as wine list is very average. $10 corkage fee is a bargain. Service was prompt & courteous. A good choice for a special Occassion."

"I've driven by this restaurant for two years and finally had dinner there. It was outstanding! I can't recall a more delicious dining experience in quite some time. The house wines are enjoyable, bountiful portions and affordable. The breads and salads are way beyond the usual. We had a cold shrimp plate which came with interesting sauces -- flavorful but not too spicy. The beef was perfectly prepared. Try the Pascagoula style for the beef - the green peppercorns and Kalamata olives made each bite something to look forward to. Friendly and knowledgeable server - somehow appeared when needed, vanished when not."

"I'm a vegetarian and I love The Grill's sides. The gnocchi, spicy sweet potatoes and sautéed spinach are a few of my favorites! The mac n cheese and spicy corn is extremely good, as well. "This was our second trip to the Grill at Highlands Row. On both occasions, either my wife or I had the filet. In both cases, it was a strange cut. It was called a filet on the menu, but it didn't look like a typical filet. For the most part, it tasted good, but was a little tougher than a normal tenderloin. I would recommend the crab cakes, however. They were very flavorful as was the remoulade that accompanied them. Three of the best tasting crab cakes I have ever had. Should you go, avoid the filet."

"This was our second visit to the Grill. I had trout the first time and probably should have ordered it this time. Instead I ordered the Grouper and asked that it be cooked without the bacon. The server said that could be done. When dinner arrived, my grouper didn't have any bacon on it, but tasted entirely like bacon. I asked that it be cooked to be moist inside, but it was overcooked and probably had been sitting in a pan with the onions and bacon for quite some time. Very disappointing. The rest of my dining companions enjoyed their meals, I couldn't finish mine."

"A group of girl friends eat at different restaurants each month. I suggested Highlands. The restaurant is pleasing-NOT noisy. One girls is legally blind. I asked the hostess if she could turn the lights up a little, she said NO it would not be possible. First time that has ever happen to us. We ordered, all the food came but mine. I gave it again, "Salad with Cranberries and Pecans with grilled chicken added. It took about 10 minutes..there were NO cranberrues or pecans,I had to ask for them. The waitress was condesending like I was making it up & reluctantly brought a few-BAD!"

"Loved the gluten-free version of their Shrimp and Grits dish. They were very quick to offer to make it gluten-free. The unique sides they have are wonderful, especially the okra fries. My husband's burger was a bit overcooked, but other than that the food was great. The wine and beer offerings were very good as well! Their service and ambiance is always great."

"I had made reservations for a group of 10 and we were very well taken care of. Our server (I can't remember her name, but I know she was pregnant) was great! She had her hands full with 10 people and was able to make sure that we were happy at all times. Our wine selections and drinks went over very well with everyone and all of our food was amazing! We had people that had been there before, that recommended everything on the menu, and for the ones that haven't been there before, were all very impressed with how good everything they had on their plates was! I would highly recommend this place to people I know, in fact I already have, and we would definitely come back! Please thank our server for making this an exceptional experience for us!"

"We went to brunch to celebrate my Dad's birthday. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals and were please with the variety of breakfast and lunch items and the variety of sweet and savory items. The only negative was that I felt like we had to chase down our waitress to get drink refills and was no where to be found when a couple of us wanted to order a beer to have with our meal so we did without."

"I have eaten here several times and the atmosphere is usuly quiet, private and romantic. However this last time, the music playing was so loud we could not hear ourselves talk forcing us and the others surrounding us to talk louder. This was a bit disappointing.
I ordered the red snapper special and found it not so special. It was prepared and tasted much like the grouper that is listed on the regular menu. The lobster sauce on the fish was bland at best. The others at my table had steak. The filet was undercooked despite a request for medium. The remaining dishes were quite delicious. I highly recommend the chocolate soufflé.
The service was fabulous and our server was kind, and attentive."

"Slow service was the first thing we noticed. Then my order was wrong which they replaced and comp'ed. As the evening went on the louder the dining room got which made conversation difficult. The food was very bland and lacked any sort of originality.
We read several poor reviews but went anyway to see for ourselves. Next time I will follow their advice and avoid the place."
