"Short and sweet- the place has gorgeous servers in skimpy dresses and the food is average. For over a hundred bucks for my wife and I for one glass of wine, one app, two entrees, coffee and one dessert there are MUCH better choices locally. Overpriced and under delivered. Our server was a guy and he was excellent. No complaints on device but the food was lacking."

"Johnny's used to be a great neighborhood restaurant with outdoor dining and BYOB. Once they received a liquor license everything changed. They remodeled closing the outdoor space and added a bar too large and noisy for a dining area. They also added a dance floor and DJ with light blue walls, mod chandeliers and waitresses in tight short dresses matching the walls. Johnny's is now a night club with a packed noisy eating area. The food continues to be good especially the chicken parm and pasta entrees. So if you like a "south beach vibe" then go to Johnny's, but if you want a relaxing dining experience then skip it."

"We had a great meal. Our celebration was for Father's Day. The wait staff was courteous and knowledgeable. They were also very accepting of my daughter, who has some learning disabilities ( age 42 ). I thank them for that, especially."

"Everything was great, except for the hovering waiter, who tried to explain everything on the menu to us. He wouldn't shut up long enough so we could think and make a decision about the food. All we really wanted was a romantic table and to be basically be left alone for the hour or two.
The place is beautiful since the redo, but there are so many places of this same genre down here that are cheaper and offer the same quality food. We found it to be a bit expensive."

"I was 100% pleased with the dishes we ordered. the appetizers of Fried Calamari and Nona's meatballs were Excellent. My pork chop and my wifes veal parm equaled the appetizers in taste, and portion. Excellent.....BUT... The noise level is horrible. You cannot hear the person next to you yet alone someone across the table. the waitress literally has to yell the specials to you. This diminishes what would have been a great dining experience. We didn't stay for dessert because we needed to get out and away from the noise. I assume we shouted at each for about 15 minutes outside just to return to normalcy."

"I hope that our recent experience isn't a sign of things to come. Whenver a restaurant expands I often see a decline in the quanitity of food and service. Tuna tartare served in a martini glass and drowning in soy sauce was a travesty and a waste of good fish and money at a cost of $14! Hardly eaten, and dissatisfaction mentioned to server clearing our table but no action taken. Blackened scallops were good, but ribeye steak was very thin cut for the price and the filet was below average in taste. Waitstaff needs alittle polishing as well. The waiter a few feet away, shouldn't be making a motion of tipping a glass back as a way of nonverbally asking me if I need another drink. Very, very noisy but liked the live Sinatra music."

"MY RESERVATION WAS AT 7;15 PM AND WAS SEATED AT 7;20 THE WAITRESS HAD TO SHOUT BECAUSE THE NOISE LEVEL WAS SO HIGH WE COULD NOT HEAR HER, THE FOOD ORDER WAS PLACED AT 7;30 AT 8;30 THE FOOD DID NOT ARRIVE THE WAITRESS SAID THERE WAS A PROBLEM IN THE KITCHEN WE DECIDED TO GET UP AND LEAVE"

"The food was excellent and the service was spot on. I had the crab stuffed lobster tail and my wife had the chicken parm. We were very pleased with both of our dishes. We would recommend it on the food and service without questions.
Sitting just across the table from each other it was very difficult to carry a conversation. The bar was packed and the noise level in general in the restaurant was very loud. We might try some other places or maybe stay away on the weekends. I'm not sure if it's the low ceiling or glass front, but the noise level should be addressed."

"We could not hear the people we were with, nor could they hear us without screaming over the unbearable noise.
The steak was so tough I could not cut nor eat it.. When the waitress asked how everything was and I said it was very tough, she just shrugged her shoulders. At the end of dinner with most of the steak still on the plate I said I guess you should wrap it up, maybe my dog can chew it. No comment from staff.
Would never recommend and will never go back."

"When I heard cafe in the name, I thought it would be a small little neighborhood place but was pleasantly surprised to find a very elegant, modern layout. It had a New York upscale restaurnt feel to it. I had the chicken parmigiano and was shocked at how large the serving portion was. It was excellent. The only drawback was the exceedingly high noise level. We were seated closer to the bar and couldn't hear each other talking. We didn't mind too much though because we were busy enjoying our delicious meal."

"I took my friend, an 87 year old gentleman with quite a few dietary restrictions, to dinner. Although he is an exceptionally finicky eater, (he could only find a few things on the menu that met his needs, and those had to be tweaked), the staff and owner of the restaurant made him feel like a king. No request was a problem for this staff. My friend special ordered a simply grilled chicken breast atop garlic mash potatoes, that was beautifully presented, and his request for an extra side of marinara sauce, came in a bowl of its own, that was over-the-top delicious! I had the grilled seafood salad, also delicious, light and fresh.The whole experience was absolutely delightful--from the service to the decor- a perfect 10."

"The food here is delicious! It's not often when you go out with a group that everyone LOVES their meal. Seriously can not go wrong ordering anything off the menu. We went on a Friday, it is a vibrant atmosphere so if your looking for quiet, this isn't it. They have a DJ, bar and a mature crowd. Perfect for dinner then a few drinks. Service was excellent. I would recommend this place over and over again. It is a bit pricy though... But worth it."

"We have been frequent patrons over the years but this past visit left a sour taste for us.....we were seated in the bar area...noisy, base music in background very disruptive even though I asked for special need-hearing impaired. Arrived and they had not even noted this on our reservation. Food was mediocre to say the least....my fish was dry and tasteless and cost was ridiculously high. Just am disappointed as had always depended on Johnny's for consistency. Looks like we will be going elsewhere."

"The food was ok. We eat out often and love finding a new good find, but we were a little disappointed. I ordered the ribeye, which was mediocre at best. My husband had the veal chop which he said was good but not the best he has had. There are other restaurants around that are better. Our sever went outside to converse with another patron. Then, came to our table because he forgot what we ordered. For the price, we will eat at Chef Volas next time."

"We haven't been here in 2 years because of the rude server, Chris, & we got him again-he hasn't changed. My friend's wine was wrong, he gave her attitude & an annoyed face. He brought back the correct wine & admitted to the error & he apologized, but the damage was done. We sat in the booth by the kitchen door & Chris served us from behind the booth, rather than walk around to the end of the table, which is rude & dangerous. We asked for water before we left & Chris told the server to stop pouring because we were leaving. We told him we wanted water & he argued with us. The servers run around like ants at a picnic-the vibe is frenetic & not reflective of the new, beautiful décor. The summer salad was excellent-everything else was OK."

"I am a local, I was born and raised in Ventnor and live in the Cherry Hill area with restaurants galore. I was excited to go here before a night out in AC. The food was average at best. The place was very noisy, not energetic as stated above.
But what really pushed me over the edge, I should not see a man eating with a hat on. Even worse, a family came in, husband wore a button down dress shirt, inside-out. I would have thought his wife would have noticed the huge tag flapping around on his back, but seeing she came wearing dingy sweatpants and pull over sweatshirt, they didn't really care what they looked like."

"Our experience at Johnny's was very average. While we had no real problems and didn't receive bad food, everything was just good. It took us about 30 minutes to get our drinks and after, our entrees took quite some time. Our meals were good. Nothing bad but nothing to remember either. As far as service goes, when we walked in the hostess was very friendly and polite, she was great! Our server, Tom, was very personable and a delight. The only real negative about our experience was the noise level. It was very loud. We were seated in the back where the recently opened up an addition to the restaurant. We were yelling at each othe across the table. Overall, I wouldn't recommend you go there but I wouldn't recommend you didn't."

"We were disappointed with our dining experience. It seems to us the Johnny's Cafe is having an identity crisis- somewhere between a neighborhood bar hangout and an expensive fine dining establishment. Unfortunately, it's lacking in several areas. No tablecloths, cold rolls and empty water glasses. My wife ordered off of the "martini" menu, and since there was champagne in it, it was served in a small fluted glass (martini menu??) Additionally, the waitress kept referring to us as guys: "hi guys", "how are you guys doing?", this was too casual for our taste, especially since 2 out of the 3 of us were women. Lastly, when our leftovers were packaged up, they forgot who's "Veal Johnny" went to who (there were two served at the table)."

"We normally love Johnnys but this evening we did not have a good meal. The restaurant was crowded and since the remodel it has lost the romantic feel. No more piano player and cozy quiet seats. Our waiter relied on servers who forgot part of my entree. We told the waiter and he said he would get it but after walking by our table at least 5 times he never checked. He did apologize when we told him and gave me the side dish to take home but honestly I really didn't have a great time that night. We were next to the kitchen door and even though I made reservations asking for quiet area the hostess said those seats were taken. The entrees were expensive too. We did love the roasted peppers and bread. Delicious."

"We've been here twice before: once to dine and once for drinks and dancing. Prior occasions were OK or good (for active nightlife). This time, however, a big disappointment on all accounts. First, party of six and were seated at a table for four, despite other availability. Service was slow, immature, untrained and generally quite poor. Food was also quite disappointing. Of the six of us, only one meal was considered satisfactory. The ala carte house salads were good, but the pricier ala carte Caesar Salads were served in some "nouveoux" style that was terrible. The Veal Johnny was the best entree. The Pescatore was ordered two different ways, which both lacked flavor. The $42 Porterhouse Steak was tough and lacked taste; Striped Bass also"

"Overall, a good experience. The service was good; the wait staff not very professional, singing stupid songs and paying special, time-intensive attention to a certain (I presume frequent) customer. Entree and cocktails were exceptional but we wish we had skipped dessert. Creme Brulee tasted like a box mix in which they added milk and beat it, not the light, yet rich vanilla custard I'm used to. Key lime pie was average, nothing special. So, stick with the entrees and find another spot for dessert afterwards."

"The apps. were good calms casino were perfect,main courses were very good,desert was nothing that we would rave about.We were seated immediately in a very comfortable circular booth,the new renovationswere in good taste. Service was not the best they brought the bill before we could tell them we wanted coffee.There was a DJ that left a lot to be desired everyone told him to turn it down but it was enough to give you a headache!Thank goodness that didn't start until we finished our main course.We definitely would go back but would call to see what time the DJ started and make it a point to go earlier!"

"I always enjoy my meals at Johnny's cafe. I like the lunches much more than the dinner. I find the day staff much more friendly and accommodating than the evening wait service. The drinks during the day are mixed well and have the right amount of alcohol used. On my last visit I ordered a Long Island Iced Tea and was disappointed. The drink was filed with Ice and didn't taste like it had any alcohol. The waitress asked me if I wanted another drink and I told her I would like another Long Island Ice Tea and this time without so much ice and with alcohol actually used this time. She kept on insisting the bartender made the drink right the first time. She brought me the second Long Island Iced Tea still too much ice but I tasted it and said t"
