Described as contemporary American cuisine, Black Pearl's menu is focused on using fresh, locally produced ingredients that deliver a fullness of flavor which can only come from foods produced and prepared in a conscientious way. For the diner, that means our changing menu will feature seasonal foods, grown locally, and picked fresh to ensure their fullest flavor. From fruits and vegetables to meat and poultry, Black Pearl is committed to serving foods that are grown and raised in a way that shows respect for nature, and, of course, a similar respect for those who produce them and you who consume them.
In addition to our regular menu selections, Black Pearl features a fresh raw oyster bar. With a carefully chosen selection of delectable oysters at all times, the raw bar has become a dining destination of its own.

"This was a special occasion - we were celebrating two 50th birthdays and the life of a loved one who passed away earlier this year. We lingered over drinks, wine, dinner, wine, dessert, and dessert drinks, and at no time did we feel rushed or pressured to wrap it up even though it was a Friday night. The room was well managed and our waiter was a complete delight. I've been here before and will happily return with more friends and family. Thank you for a lovely evening."

"I suspect that one of the great chlenges in New American is in pushimg the envelope far enough without getting trapped in the vortex of pretense and, frankly, silliness. Black Pearl threads the needle right; great food that always intrigues, modern decor that is warm and inviting without stuffiness, staff that absolutely knows about that which they are selling, a by the glass list that fills a page with solid options (and a list that puts many in this city to shame). 5280 has its list of darling restauranteers and chefs. Let the crowds go there for the underwhelming food and, at best, decent service. If you actually have a tongue and know what it is there for, come to Black Pearl."

"This was our second visit in two weeks. Maybe we just picked the best items from the menu the first time. The food just didn't have the pizzazz the first visit had. The rib eye was uninspired and my special, a seafood with etouffee just didn't have a spark. Neither was bad, mind you; it just didn't have the punch of the first time. Mine lacked any heat at all....it was great for a bland American taste, but I wanted to taste the cayenne pepper. The steak was, well, just another piece of beef with interesting sides.

"We enjoy the ambiance at Black Pearl and frequent the restaurant. The menus are ever-changing and interesting. It seems; however, that the meals are becoming more complex. I had a Leg of Lamb dish that had the most interesting ingredients to the top of the excellent lamb, that the tastes fought each other. My husband and I shared the Adult Hot Chocolate for dessert, and it was nothing more than a cup of hot chocolate with whiskey and two roasted marshmellows. It was a great idea, but did not deliver anything of interest. As much as we enjoy the great service, the atmosphere, and the wines, this restaurant is falling off of our favorites."

"The food was great, very small portions, I left kind of hungry. I am not one for huge portions, but the portions were lacking. I would next time order an appetizer to share. I had the square breakfast, scrambled eggs cooked semi-runny. There are two eggs, but only two small pieces of bacon and maybe 5 pieces of potato and one slice of toast. My husband had the potato pancakes. He loved them! My friend ordered the potato pancakes but two over easy eggs on the side (so she had enough food). We were in the main dining room on first level. The big window was open and the street was super lively because of the Farmers Market. That created a fun atmosphere. Afterward you can shop, listen to live music. Highly recommend Back Pearl!"

"We had a great experience! The food was delicious. The Kalamari was the best my husband and I have ever had! We had a giftcard which made it more affordable for us. I even ordered the meatloaf, which I would not normally order at a nice dinner, but they make it for each order and it was fabulous! The dessert we tried was the carrot cake/peanut butter ice cream one. Such an unusual combination, but it was so good. The flavors blended much better than I even thought! The only downside? That we didn't get to try the oysters... we were too full:)"

"Sat outside and was a very nice night out! ordered Scallops to start; the black beans were a bit odd but the sauce was nice & spicy and the jicama added a nice crunch. Entree was a rib-eye. Came out way over cooked so it had to be replaced. Jeremy (mgr) took care of that so the next one was under cooked of course but I at it. The best part of the meal: I ordered a Cab which was just ok, but Jeremy hooked me up with a blend "mountain cuvee" that was out of site (winery is called "gundlach bundschu")!!"

"Overall the dinner was very good. The food was quite tasty and the service was great - they checked on us at all the right times. I would have given 5 stars except that they overcooked my steak and I had to send it back. My husband got through nearly his whole dinner before I got mine back. Though they were good about updating me on when I would get my meal, it was disappointing that a free dessert or something similar wasn't offered up for the wait and the fact that we couldn't eat together. The steak however was delicious with the sauce and the potato wedges had a good flavor to them. We'll be back."

"We were really pleased with our recent trip to Black Pearl. We shared three plates and were really blown away by the calamari. It was delicious and different from calamari at other restaurants as it was the body meat instead of just the tentacles. The ambiance and location were really nice and felt really local. It was a little noisy, but that was mostly because of the people we were seated next to. Overall, we had a really nice time."

"Service was excellent, food was okay. 3 of the 4 of us had the shrimp tacos based on our servers rave reviews. The shrimp were overcooked and somewhat tough. The presentation and accoutrements were uninspired. Our other friend had the bison burger which he said was delicious although he declined the mole sauce. It seemed that mole was offered with many, almost too many, dishes. Appetizers, entrees, and desserts had mole this or that. $100 for 4 people at lunch, no alcohol was too steep for what we got."

"We had reservations at 7 and had to wait 45 min to be seated with no explanation as why we had to wait that long to be seated?? The hostess finally came over after 35 min because he noticed how disgruntled we were and offered some truffle fries big deal!!!! The least they could have done is given us some kind of a discount off our check. You have 1 chance to make an impression on a customer and you should never let them leave your establishment without some type of a good experience. Will never go back to Black Pearl again!!! Only good thing was our waiter Malcolm he was awesome but the bitter taste of waiting 45 min. without any explanation was a deal killer!!!!!"

The pear and goat cheese tart with arugula salad was very good. The service is very knowledgeable and attentive. Some of the menu items are fairly unique like Yak so you have to be adventuresome. Wine by the bottle is half off on Sunday nights."

"We were greeted at the door with a warm invitation to our table and our drinks were brought to us within "seconds" after being seated. Fabulous birthday dinner with just my hubby. Everything was perfect from Moscow Mule to Mexican Chocolate Cake! Noel, our waiter, was outstanding and the cheerful waitress that delivered our dinners was very helpful with finding out what was in my husband's appetizer that was so very yummy! Our first visit but certainly won't be our last even though we drove from Castle Rock!"

"Going into Black Pearl I cannot lie, I was not expecting much. Then I looked at their menu and thought there could be hope! But alas, the food was only subpar, the server was flying around like a mad man making many mistakes, and after i sent back a flat glass of wine they treated me like a snob. With all of the truly amazing restaurants in Denver, I will not be heading back to the black pearl unless it is not by choice."

"Drinks great. Calamri great. Disappointed in the size of the yak portion in my husband's meal. It was delicious, though the waiter said it would be an 8 oz portion - no way was it 8 oz. There were probably 8 medallions the size of a quarter and only 1/4 inch thick. The service was most excellent. We had Malcomb and he was exceptional."

"The food was superb! The calamari was the best I have ever eaten - thick, tender, excellent flavor, generous portions. The entrees were delicious too. The service was superior. Very attentive with water, bread and checking on service. Did a great job of "up selling" too - no pressure, just good descriptions and offerings. The server knew a lot about wine too.
We came with a living social ad and we will be back to eat here again - we want to eat at the outdoor fire table and try brunch too. We also want to come back for dessert!"

"My experience this time (my second time) at Black Pearl wasn't as magical as the first time I went, but that was mostly because I didn't feel well. I went with my family to celebrate my parents' birthdays, and like last time, the service was top-notch and the food (what I could eat since I didn't feel well) was delicious. The rest of my family had a great time, and I would definitely recommend others try it!"

"Black Pearl never disappoints. It must be the freshness of their seasonal offerings. We have been to Black Pearl a few times and always start with the Pistachio calamari- we are charmed by the unique flavor and chunky pieces the appetizer offers. I will admit, I didn't think there was anything special you could do with catfish.. but I was intrigued by the ancho chili hollandaise and lime crema. WOW! It was DELICIOUS! The sweet potatoes and rainbow chard were perfectly done and enhanced the meal without overwhelming the fish, which is easy to do. Chip, our server, was attentive and knowledgeable. Our friends, who were first timers, were delighted and we will all return."
