"We went here for Mother's Day. I checked out the website prior to, so I was surprised that they had a per person price of $39.50. Lesson learned on my part to call next time. The food was very good, however very small portions. When we gave our order we were then informed that it was a "tasting" menu, which equates to small portions. Very small. My Husband was still hungry afterwards and at the price we paid, he shouldnt have been. No kids menu was available. I do believe they are priced for the area, but we could have eaten at the Boathouse for slightly less, but much bigger portions."

"Took my mom for Mother's Day brunch. She absolutely loved the place and she's been a complainer all her life. Fell in love with the no filler crab, said salmon was the best she ever had, and she really wanted to lick the plates but would have been embarrassed. It was very enjoyable. We had 3 courses, all exceptional, and there was a nice selection to chose from - something for everyone. My own daughter has forced me into fancy restaurants in New York and Chicago before and I was always disappointed with the food, especially for the high prices. This was well worth the money and I can say one of the best I've ever been to."

"The food was great! We especially liked the Cat Sea Pig and the Lime coconut Tilapia. The fried chocolate cake was an unexpected delicious surprise.
We were sorry that the tables were so close together. Don't know if it was because of Restaurant Week. We were disappointed that the website was not up to date. We had picked out several interesting wines before we got to the restaurant. Then, none of them were on the wine list. This was our first visit. We will be back!"

"The food was good, but the service was not! We had to wait 20 minutres to get a Sangria cocktail. At the end of dinner we had to wait almost 30 min for dessert. We order fried cake and we were told each one had to be made individually. Really...the cake wasn't already made. When we got dessert it was a small portion of a cake in a martini glass with a small scoop of ice cream. Still don't know why that took 30 min.
When we asked for decaf coffee to go with it we were told they ran out! Seriously... just send the bus boy tonthe nearest grocery store!
Our waitress was nice, but didn't come by very often.
Bottom line... good food, not so good service."

"The meal was interesting and perfectly prepared. Other than that, the place was just adequate. With only a few tables seated, they tried to seat us right by the front door. We were not greeted by the waiter for five minutes or so and he took even longer to bring us our bottle of wine. Staff was pleasant and the service was fine after the initial, unexplained problems."

"M bistro, should be M, 5 star, honestly is the Best food in Richmond, we've tried most, travel often and try restaurants wherever we go. Original, fresh, and prepared perfectly. You are doing yourself a disservice to say you like good food and not try this. This guy would easily win top chef!!!!!Easily crushes anything else around here in pure taste, quality and awesomeness.Wish I had been goin for years, sad this was just the first time, but hope 1 of many enjoyable evenings."

"Didn't know what to expect and Wow were we pleasantly surprised! Every course was absolutely delicious and prepared to perfection. Chef Michael is extremely talented. The decor was pleasing to the eye and the ambiance was perfect for a relaxintg night out. Our server did not rush us and allowed us to enjoy each course. I would highly recommend this restaurant for any special occasion or for just a delicious dinner out. We can't wait to go to M Bistro again and try other dishes."

"My girlfriend and I live in Rocketts Landing and we frequent M-Bistro often. We made reservations (don't have to, but it's a good idea) for Friday, March 22 and had an awesome meal. There isn't much of a waiting room--it's the bar. But make sure to make good use of it--it's worth it. The bar staff is friendly and knowledgeable about their craft. Even if you don't imbibe in the spirits, grab some water with a cucumber garnish--it's like being at a spa. The decor is what I would describe as elegant industrial--tastefully appointed concrete flooring and pillars. Now for the best part: Chef Michael creates food that makes your eyes salivate. Everything I've had has been delicious. If you like crab bisque, you'll die for M-Bistro's! Enjoy!"

"This is turing out to be one of our favorite spots. The chef really does some amazing things.I recently had a buffalo ribeye with the bottom of the plate drizzed with a sauce of what tasted like beef broth reduction, balsamic vinegar and a hint of blackberry. I'm guessing here, but it was amazing. I would never have thought of that combination for a steak."

"My husband and I enjoyed a perfect evening on Valentine's Day. They had a special four- course menu and the serving sizes were just right. I did not feel "stuffed" by the time my crab cake/sea bass entree arrived. I usually do not get appetizers or salads for that very reason. Also the poached pear dessert was light and delicious. We dined there because we knew Chef Michael opened this restaurant last year. We have enjoyed his fabulous meals at the Bull and Bear Club in the past. The whole evening was better than we anticipated. The long-stemmed rose I received they provided for the women is still looking fresh even after six days. We will return soon."

"We have eaten at M Bistro on a number of occasions and chose it for our Valentine's outing. We had not realized until we arrived that they had a speical prix fixe menu - 4 courses. Compared with their normal ala carte pricing, it was a bit more expensive - but they did provide a beautiful long-stem red rose!
Food was very good, however, my wife had lamb both as an appetizer and as an entre and found the entre to be disappointing - tough and rubbery - whereas the "lollypop" lamb chop appetizer was perfect.
Food presentation a M Bistro is always a highlight. Service is very professional and pleasant."

"M Bistro shines on all levels. The owner, Chef Hall visits each table and this touch makes guests feel special. The waitstaff is affable, attentive and respectfully non intrusive. The food is presented artfully and what the chef doe with sauces is absolutely drool-worthy and magical---lamb ribs and also the rib eye. OMG. The desserts are worth the carb count and pounds. The Valentine's Day dinner was elegant and the rose still lives!"

"We've been twice for dinner and once for lunch. Lunch lambburger was excellent and we would return. The first time we went for dinner was midweek around a holiday and "M" was almost empty. The second chance, was a regular Saturday night when the other local options were packed to the doors. Again, M was almost empty. It is a sad place that hasn't yet found its home in the market. Clearly, a lot of money has gone into the space but culinary realization does not yet match website promise or chef's dream. Food is well-prepared and pleasantly served but the menu is homogeneous and limited with no obvious flair or surprise to entice a returning diner. "Soup of the day" had "run out" by 7pm on a night when there were hardly any diners."

"You can't go wrong with this place. I've been for brunch and dinner in two different occasions.... and both experiences were great. For brunch I had the open faced smoked salmon sandwich and broiled grapefruit with honey and vanilla. For dinner - the lamb chops are amazing!"

"Odered filet and signature dish which was crab cakes. Filet was ordered medium rare but was clearly rare when we received it. It had a cold red center. The crab cakes were watery and chewy. Far from a signature dish. After we were nearly done eating we noticed other tables with bread. We determined that these tables had a different server. We were never offered bread. We also over heard anoter server offering a starter special. Once again we were never offered a starter special. Althugh we weren't offered the special, we ordered the lamb spare ribs which were the best part of the meal. I think the restaurant has potential but with so many good restaurants in Richmond, we won't be going back."
