"Went here for my 30th birthday, on a romantic date with my husband. We made a reservation, and was seated right away. Our waiter was very friendly, and attentive. We had appetizers (white chocolate pea soup, and pork belly), the chicken and duck for entrees, and the chocolate, and grapefruit ice cream for dessert.
It is a great dining experience here as it is a small nook in the wall with incredible food. Dining here takes about 2 hours.
Afterwards, take a stroll through the cute neighborhood too!"

"We love going to the Red Ox for special occasions. The food is amazing, the service is superior, and the integrity of the kitchen is beyond reproach. I have food allergies, which often mean that my meals at restaurants are less-than-average, taste-wise. That's never the case at Red Ox Inn. I've never had any food there that was less than amazing!"

"We go to the Red Ox Inn at least a couple times a year usually for special occasions. This last visit was for my husbands bday and it did not disappoint. We are always more than satisfied with the service and atmosphere. The food is creative and delicious. Split pea soup and beet salad were excellent. Lamb loin was a little fatty but overall fantastic. Apple crumble dessert was not worth the calories but we still really enjoyed dinner overall.

"An hour wait to be served when we were the only one when arrived is accessive by any standards. 2 more couples arrived within next 15-20 minutes dressed in jeans and plaid shirt.
We were dressed up as asked and our "romantic" dinner was not so romantic . We will not be coming back."

"Amazing little restaurant, with great "foodie food". Portions are nice size. You don't feel stuffed when you leave. Waiter/waitress were great and not intrusive. Wine is a bit overpriced but the rest of the meal makes up for it."

"The green pea soup was fresh and delicious. I ordered the lamb medium and it came out more like medium rare so I think if those who like their meat more cooked can safely ask for well done. It was absolutely amazing with the couscous, bacon butter and goat cheese. The dessert was very enjoyable due to the good ingredients. Cheese, grape jelly, butter crackers, and nuts worked perfectly.The atmosphere was noisy with other patrons who were equally enjoying their dishes."

"My husband and I have eaten at Red Ox Inn on many occasions. We keep going back because we like the food and service. Our waitress was knowledgeable and helpful, especially with the wine list. The service was slow and we would have appreciated some bread/rolls to help tide us over between the appetizer and entree. On this night in particular the party beside us noisy which was somewhat intrusive. However the quality of the meal far outweighed any negatives and we will continue to go back to Red Ox Inn."

"An amazing dining experience - the food has amazing taste, beautifully presented. Each course was an appropriate amount of food, so we walked away full (but not stuffed) at the end. The quality of ingredients was evident, as was the talented hand that put it all together. "There's is something about nice restaurants in Edmonton; they are not outwardly fancy, patrons are almost always moderately dressed, and the experience and the food leaves you feeling that much better about quality of life. Red Ox Inn is one of those places. Yes, it is yummy. Staff have worked there for years, the wine menu us very good, and the creativity of the dishes pleasing. Go spend an evening, take your time, enjoy the conversation, and leave having added some loveliness to your day. We enjoyed the sweetbreads, duck, and lamb. Next time we'll try the beet, and pork belly."

"My wife and I eat at the Red Ox Inn once a year as a special treat. This is the 4th or 5th time we have dined here and it only seems to get better every time. I had the lamb with bacon jam and it blew my mind. Simply one if the best meals I have ever had. The only downside to the evening was a very loud patron at the table next to us; of course completely out of their control."

"I have been to the Red Ox several times, and every time it gets better. The pork belly appy was great and the duck entree is potentially the best dish I have ever had. The service was great, and they offered many great wine suggestions as well. In my opinion Red Ox Inn is the best restaurant in the city, the combination of great food, intimate setting and service is second to no other place. If you can only eat at one place before your die, make it the Red Ox."

"Loved the quiet ambiance, we were able to enjoy a lovely evening with friends. Food was delicious and well proportioned if you had all 3 courses, otherwise having only the main entree would leave you feeling hungry as it was small. Waiter was extremely knowledgeable about every item on the menu. Restaurant had no difficulty accommodating gluten free request."

"This was my first time experiencing the Red Ox Inn, and I was thoroughly pleased. The service was impeccable, food was delectable, server was very informed regarding wine selections, and the atmosphere was very positive.
One thing I, personally, had a hard time with was the acoustics in the dining room. Conversations from other tables were almost deafening to me, making it really tough to visit with my own company."

Unique location and, for me, the ideal dining environment. Overall, a fine experience which will prompt return visits."

"Food was almost inedible. Rack of lamb had excessive fat and griss and virtually no meat, which was tough anyways. Soup was terrible. Desserts were mediocre. Service was substandard failing to adequately compensate for awful lamb. Highly overrated restaurant. Don't waste your money."

"We ate at the Red Ox Inn for our fifth anniversary. It was excpetional, as always. The food was exquisite, the servers knowlegeable, friendly and prompt. They give you time to breathe and eat and you never feel rushed. The only drawback is the noise level, but that is all dependent on the volume of other people eating there :) Will always recommend the Red Ox."
