Marathon has served the neighborhoods of Philadelphia for over 25 years as a family-run restaurant group. We serve well-made American classics, and strive to source the freshest food locally available to us, including from our own Marathon Farm in Brewerytown, Philadelphia. Our favorite farm to table items include our grass-fed Cheesesteak, free-range Turkey Plate, and fluffy Omelets made with cage-free eggs.
"Even walk into a charming restaurant to find out that the adjectives "eclectic", "creative", and "beautiful" can be applied to the food in addition to the decor? =) It took my friends and I almost 20 minutes to decide what to eat at Marathon because there were so many amazing-sounding choices! And lucky for us, everything didn't just sound amazing, it tasted amazing. We highly recommend the Salmon Salad and Turkey Burger, but I doubt you can go wrong with any choice. We also appreciated that our server was a helpful, patient and friendly man with an amazing smile. We'll be back!"

"Met a couple for dinner before a concert at the Kimmel. Not too far to walk to the concert. It was a convenient location. The dinner was very good. I had the vermicelli entree, very tasty and a lot of it. Two of us had the cheeseburger and felt it was very good. The other had the turkey club and a caesar salad, both of which were very good. we would recommend it as a good quick and convenient place to meet to eat when catching a show or concert - or just to have dinner.
Interior decor is very nice; modern wood and chrome, clean and inviting."

"The food wasn't spectacular and the service wasn't great. Our waitress was slow and forgetful. There were 6 of us and she would forget things we would ask for during dinner. At a certain point, we just started walking up to the bar ourselves to get our own drinks. The food wasn't great either."

"Marathon is my go-to restaurant in Philly if I know I want to eat out, don't want anything fancy, and don't have anything special in mind. I can always rely on the food to be delicious and thoughtfully prepared, the menu to maintain the gold standards while making interesting seasonal additions, and the service to be friendly and professional."

"After walking past Marathon frequently and reading reviews on yelp, I decided to give it a try. The food was delish, prices great and service was wonderful. Went with four friends on Tuesday night for my 30th birthday and had a splendid experience."

"Good food with quality ingredients and touches. We were there on a Sunday night and the wait staff seemed to be a little short handed. While our server was very nice, he was also not very attentive to our group of 6. Ordering, drink refills, paying , etc. all seemed to take noticeably long. The food was not remarkable, but good quality."

"Marathon is one of my favorite places in Philadelphia, and it didn't disappoint on the ump-teenth visit. The only complaint I could lodge is that the server was a bit unattentive."

"Food was not bad. I really enjoyed my grains salad, and prices are very good for the area. However, the servers are clearly not well trained. We had to consistently wave for attention to ask to place our order, for more water, etc. I might go back because the price is right and food better than average diner, but service needs a lot of work."

"I was asked to put together a dinner for a group (ended up being 9 people), and a tight budget ($30 per person; students). I love this place anyway, and it seemed like I would have a shot at staying within budget (I didn't, but it was close) - though I was nervous about the group size. I made the reservation online, and had no trouble at all - everything was ready when we arrived, there was plenty of space, and the service, food, and ambiance were all very good. Everyone loved the food, and we all had a great time. We could hear each other talk, but it wasn't so quiet we felt like we needed to keep it down. Great experience overall."

"We liked the range of options on the menu although we were not impressed with our actual meals (grilled salmon and meatloaf entrees). Greek salad appetizer was also ok, nothing special. We were pleased with the many options for kids meals. Prices were reasonable and the location had a cozy vibe. Good family dining."

"Went to Marathon Grill on a Friday night with my fiance and we had a great dinner. I could not believe the amount of delicious food we had for such a low price. The Moroccan Meatballs and Humas Plate could not be beat. My fiance also got a salmon salad that she's been raving about for days. I have the chicken breast entree, and like the other plates it was very good. The only complaint I have is that our entrees came out literally 2 minutes after receiving our appetizers. When the server noticed this she just pushed the entrees next to our other full plates. Our main waiter was ok, nothing great.
All in all, it was great food at the low price. For that, I can deal with less than stellar service. Would go back and recommend."

"The food was veryu good as was the service. I had ordered the blackened chicken sandwich not realizing how spicy it would be, and I was able to reorder another dish with no problem at all. The server was very friendly and accomadating."

"Food is definitely FRESH! Quesadillas were YUMMY! Fresh salsa was excellent. We took our soon-to-be 3 year old. Luckily, she did well sitting in the booth. We would have been hard-pressed to put a high chair by our table. It's "butts to nuts" for sure, but if you know that going in, you'll be OK. Restaurant was loud, which helps drown out noise from any child or any group. Wouldn't recommend as a "romantic" restaurant."

"I have always been a fan of Marathon Grill... They never let me down. Their burgers are a must to try. If you're also in the mood for desert, order "Brownie a la Mode". It is not on their menu for some reason but it still exists. Ask for it and you will get it. The place is nice and the service is very good. We went there for a birthday dinner with a group of friends and everybody liked it. The prices are on the lower side compared to other Center City restaurants (but they are still delicious!). Also ask for their loyalty card if you're planning on going back!"
