Marathon has served the neighborhoods of Philadelphia for over 25 years as a family-run restaurant group. We serve well-made American classics, and strive to source the freshest food locally available to us, including from our own Marathon Farm in Brewerytown, Philadelphia. Our favorite farm to table items include our grass-fed Cheesesteak, free-range Turkey Plate, and fluffy Omelettes made with cage-free eggs.
We love food, but more importantly we create the food that people love to eat. We set out each day to provide our guests with a complete feel-good dining experience in a casual setting. We offer warm and personal hospitality rooted in a real concern for our guests' experience and we believe that everyone should be able to afford delicious food. We bring people together through food, personal connections and artistic spaces.
"We enjoyed our dinner, very nice american cuisine, with quiet and elegant ambiance. Wouldn't recommend it for desert, but other than that I would definitely go again."

"We've been coming here for years. It's reliably good and the waitstaff is almost always notably nice. The big problem is it is so noisy in there it's almost impossible to talk. It's a good place for families with small kids with the result that there are always a booth or two of screaming babies; and the place is an echo chamber. They also seem to have added a booth - which adds more sound. Stil, it's a good reliable place with some great dishes and we'll be back. Just not with anyone who minds a LOT of noise and some baby screams echoing around."

"Very hip decor. Waiter was friendly, appropriately attentive, knowledgeable and efficient. Our order came out quickly and the host went out of his way to accomodate our party of 8. The menu had a nice variety for dinner - there were vegetarian options, breakfast for dinner, traditional comfort foods, fish, pasta, etc. Everyone in our party thoroughly enjoyed their meal. There was fresh fruit on the menu offered as a side - it was fresh, the portion size was generous and it was delicious. Price was also very reasonable."

"My client flew in from Miami and we had just enough time for lunch. Rather than discussing business, we spent ALL of out time eating off each other's plate and falling in love with our food. (Btw, this was a client that I me for the very first time who generally "complains about EVERYTHING)"

"I love the delicious original interpretations of classic dishes that Marathon offers. The food never disappoints. Ingredients always seem fresh, presentation is always beautiful and the food is delicious. Our waiter was knowledgable, friendly & offered several personal and helpful suggestions and the food didn't take long to come out at all. Try the hot roasted turkey plate for a "Thanksgiving Dinner" experience that can be enjoyed any time you might be craving comfort food at it's best."

"Marathon was recommended to me by a friend so I decided to set up my Friday night dinner there with a few friends.
The service was outstanding. The moment I walked in I asked if there was any place I could charge my phone and the lady was very helpful in providing seating close to an electric outlet. The waiter was also very friendly and courteous. He did not interrupt our conversations and was prompt in providing whatever we asked for.
The food, FANTASTIC. I ordered the Marathon burger and substituted the bacon for mushrooms (since I don't eat pork) and the burger was cooked perfectly. The house BBQ sauce they use is also very tasty and adds a wild kick which made it all that much better.
I highly recommend Marathon Grill!!"

"We like going to the Marathon: it's nearby, moderately priced, tasty food. Usually the wait staff is attentive and pleasant, but this time we had a surly waiter who seemed annoyed at our presence."

"Just had a nice visit to Marathon. It's a good, American eatery where you aren't going to pay too much, but you know what you are getting. Nothing overly gourmet, but tasty food and a nice time. I don't usually comment, but our waitress was excellent, and service was great to get us out in time for the symphony."
