"The one thing that was strange is that there is a line to get in, even if you have a reservation. Anyway, we were promptly seated at a table with a excellent view. The place was packed all night. Took a long time to order and even longer to finally get the drinks... Maybe 20 minutes. Food was really good but had to get up and find someone to give us silverware. The outside patio is a great lounge with a bar. Overall it was a good experience, they just need to work on service."

"My experience here is very good, i'll definetly suggest this to my friends and relatives. It's a bit pricey although beautiful ambiance. i'm pretty sure you'll love this place for a romantic, family group or girls out. Good place to hang-out and chill.

"We took my mother there for Mother's Day and it was great. Beautiful views of downtown LA, parking across the street, amazing food. Even though we made reservations we still had to wait for a table, but the food was worth it."

"I have been here before.. Nice vibe with a live band on a Sunday night... Outdoor area that is nice to see LA crime 14 floors up! Wine list is ok, not a great selection! The service was borderline ok.. It took awhile for our server to get to us.. It wasn't crowed so not sure what the issue was... Had the ribeye steak.. Didn't like how it was prepared... It was smothered in a sauce. Just my taste though... Ambiance a 9+ .... Would recommend it to anyone who want to experience something new!"

"My fiance and I went to the Perch last weekend for dessert and coffee. I made reservations two weeks in advance, so we were able to get a two-person table outside (where the views are extraordinary!). The bar scene makes the inside of the restaurant too loud to be enjoyable, but if you can snag a table on the patio, it's definitely worth it! Our waitress was great, but our hostess was horrid. We arrived slightly late, due to the rather difficult parking situation. Our aloof, hipster hostess somehow managed to make not one but two sarcastic comments in less than a minute. Fortunately, we didn't need to interact with her after we were seated, but it was enough to leave a pretty bad first impression."

"I booked a reservation on my birthday and when i got there I two extra people which they were able to accomodate without an issue. I ended up being seated net to the band but a heat lamp with an awesome view of downtown la . It was great ! Service was fast and the food was delicious . My steak was cooked perfectly ! ( big plus for me I'm quite picky) I would send come again for a special occasion because honestly it's more than my budget but nonetheless AMAZING!"

"Had the great joy of treating my dear friend to dinner for her birthday and choose PERCH based on a recommendation from a trusted friend. I live and work downtown LA and was surprised I'd yet not been there.
What a magical place! The house red wine was excellent and we choose three different entrees to share which turned out to the be the perfect choice -- sea bass, mushroom risotto and the brussel sprouts. Perfect combination. The delectable vanilla bread pudding (complete with candle) was exquisitely yummy and worth every single calorie.
Mostly, the ambience was so beautiful. Felt like I was in Europe but the view was the skyline of downtown LA & it was truly breathtaking. We sat at a duce in the covered patio which was perfect!"

"Perch is one of those fun places that reminds me of old town New York or Chicago, which is somewhat refreshing sometimes in LA. The ambience and view is wonderful. The service is always great. I've gone for both brunch and for dinner, and both were good. The scrambled eggs and pancakes at brunch were perfect. My only complaints were that the desert after dinner was lacking. I had the bread pudding and found it WAY overheated last time and I could hardly eat it. I also wish the staff wasn't so quick to take away our glasses and plates. Even if there's only a little bit of champagne left, I'd like that last little bit! All in all though, Perch has quickly become one of my favorite LA spots and I look forward to the next time."

"Perch is a great option for a fun Saturday brunch in Downtown LA. Spectacular views of the Pershing Square area, attentive service without being intrusive and the bonus of a chanteuse and band to lend a nice cosmopolitan atmosphere. Drinks were good (best is the French Maid; Mon Petite Cheri is too strong and a bit one-note - maybe some citrus to give it some brightness). The truffle cheese fries are delicious with the herbed aioli though a bit rich - definitely add a salad. The brunch dishes were uniformly very good (smoked salmon benedict, #13 benedict and the perch burger). Coffee and capuccino were good. But overall, a fun way to start a weekend in LA."

"I've been to Perch a number of times since it opened and the food is getting better and better. When it opened the food was ok... I kept going back on occasion because of the amazing space. "I was there with a party of 6 and was automatically charged an 18% gratuity, presumably because of the size of the group. I wouldn't have had a problem paying the 18% and in fact probably would have added a little more on top of it. However, it was not brought to my attention (ie. told or circled on the bill as most restaurants do) and I added an additional 20%. When I discovered this after leaving the restaurant, i was upset to say the least. I think that when a restaurant tries to hide the automatic gratuity charge, they are acting dishonestly."

"I took my girlfriend here for our 2nd year anniversary having just moved to the Downtown area and was looking for something romantic and stylish. I found this place after searching online and it had great reviews on the food and views so I went for it. This place gets packed so you MUST make a reservation beforehand. Security is tight so make sure to bring your ID. They will check everyone in the party so come prepared. The experience of getting in makes you feel very exclusive. 2 different elevators to get to the top of the restaurant. The views are amazing but be prepared: the ambiance is quite loud and much more loungy than I expected. Not as romantic as you would think. Food and drinks are delicious. I recommend the lamb sliders."

"For the buzz around the restaurant, I would believe that they would have better service. It really ruined the experience. We were sat down and not approached for service for almost 15 minutes. Another table that sat at the same time next to us got service before we did. Thought our meal would make up for the service, but it wasn't worth it."

"The view were great and the chef did an amazing job with the dishes. The filet mignon was excellent and the waitress we had was very well informed and suggestive but not over-bearing. Excellent place to go for an anniversary or a birthday. Funny enough, despite the open and airy setting, corners of the space were very cozy and felt secluded. By far some of the best views of downtown Los Angeles while being in downtown Los Angeles. The drinks were the only slighly weak point, but for the ambiance and great food and everything else, this spot is hard to beat in the heart of the city. Even if you don't like desserts, you must try the white pudding cake. Never would have picked that, but I am so glad the waitress turned us on to it."

"I've been going to Perch since it first opened and watched the menu evolve and the restaurant build up additional spaces above and below the main restaurant. Specialty cocktails are yummy and any wine by the glass I have tried has been stellar. Week nights are my favorite since Friday & Saturday nights mean a wait to get in if you don't have a reservation and just a super busy vibe that would be good for some people, just not my thing, I leave that to the 20-somethings. Food is tasty, French bistro fare. Happy Hour is ridiculously awesome. Sitting outside with an inexpensive glass of tasty wine, looking out over the city and watching the sunset.... It's such a special, unique place."

"Loved the view and the live music. Our party of 4 was seated at a small round table too close to the tables next to it. They had the patio entirely open so it was a little too cold to be dining outside without a heater but they had no available heaters for our table. It wasn't the most comfortable. The service, unfortunately, was pretty bad. We waited 15 minutes before we had water and another 10-15 before we had drinks. When we finally flagged our waitress down, she barely apologized when we told her how long we had been waiting. The food was good, not great. Overall, I thought it was a nice menu but a little overpriced. With so many great restaurants downtown, I'm not sure I'd go back. Maybe just for drinks!"

"The setting is just beautiful and wonderful with terrific views of the city. Really magical. The food could be much better. I tried the linguine which was awful. It was one of the few vegetarian options. I couldn't eat it, so then ordered the other pasta dish which was better but not great. We went there at 6:00pm for dinner so we could make it to a concert at Disney Hall by 8:00. There were several very loud people - drinking - talking as if no one else was there and that was bothersome. The staff were very nice. I'd love to come again because it's such a special setting, but would rather have 'drinkers' who are loud, sit in another area than the diners."

"Excellently excelent. We went there for my birthday dinner. After making reservations on OT, we were greeted and seated at a table on an outside patio with a fireplace. Insane views. Valerie was a great server.....professional, courteous and nice. We had the filet mignons. Perfectly cooked (medium). From the get-go we were treated awesome. Best experience ever!!!!"

"I have just one word for Perch LA. Fantastic! I was a bit concerned about eating here because some of the reviews about the food have been unfavorable. Everything that we ate was absolutely great. The scallops were very delicious as was the beet salad and arugala and endive salad. The duck confit was cooked well and the forbidden rice was interesting. We also loved the bread pudding which some people seem to think is too dry but... who wants mushy bread pudding??? Not us!!! The service was GREAT. Everyone was very attentive and checked back with us several times to make sure the food was good. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family!"
