"Would not recommend this restaurant. Our steaks were overcooked and I am not sure if they even got the us the right cuts of steak, The place was dark and dingy and needs an overhaul. The service was slow as we had to wait almost 30 minutes after our salad for our overcooked steaks to appear."

"In an effort to accommodate a number of diners during graduation, the Barn crammed in additional tables, which really detracted from the ambience. This was our first visit, so we do not know what effect the numbers had on the kitchen, but the food was just OK. We had an experienced waiter who was attentive, but who realistically had little time to devote to detail and pampering. So, the Barn chose number over quality. The Barn may not be the best choice for such occasions."

"Food was very good on its arrival but while I would say the service was satisfactory the food was veryyyyy slow. Took us nearly 2 hours to finish eating. Steaks ordered well down came out rare and had to be sent back. But the scallops were delicious."

"We were looking for a local steakhouse and the Aberdeen Barn had good reviews. The steaks were good but my friends baked potato came completely dry - not even an ounce of butter and they never offered sour cream or other toppings. It also took 20 minutes before they brought bread to the table. The hostess, manager and bus staff were very friendly and polite but our server was terrible. Nowhere to be found and didn't even try to be friendly.
Probably a decent place if you are a local that they know by name. If you are from out of town, you are better off at Outback."

"I don't recall ever having a less than excellent meal at the Barn. We moved away from Cville about 6 years ago, and dined there this week to celebrate a special occasion with some family. Everything was perfect. The prime rib is to die for, and the service is as good as you'll find anywhere. Pricey, but worth every penny."

"Second visit: Went there with my boyfriend for his birthday and it was a wonderful choice! Crab cakes, filet, sides, drinks were all delicious. This is a more expensive place to dine, but well worth the food and great service. They even brought out a complimentary birthday surprise at the end of our meal! Great experience."

"Not exactly what I expected. It is advertised as upscale. However, it was more casual than I expected. Not a spot for kids. Good spot for couples if looking for privacy in a semi casual setting. "New to the area, my wife and I went for our anniversary, based in reputation for it being a nice restaurant. The atmosphere made me think of Texas (not that I'm experienced with Texas), and the food was very good, and expensive. Our service was so fast and efficient that I hardly felt as though I got to savor the time with my wife."

"We stopped in Charlottesville on a trip from NC to DC and enjoyed our meal at the Aberdeen Barn. The prime rib, steak, potatoes, cheese spread, and all were outstanding. Service was excellent including a warning that the UVa football team had arrived and would be entering there orders soon, so...we got our food order in and were served promptly. We will be back!"

"Our reservation for 4 was right on time, and held appropriately. The decor is a bit dated with a western-barn theme.
After seating, our server took nearly 25 minutes to arrive and take our drink order. As we already had our menus we ordered our entrees at the same time. The entrees arrived relatively quickly, but two of the steaks were WAY overdone. The "Pittsburgh rare" arrived actually "medium" and the "rare" steak arrived "medium-well". The kitchen provided new, to-order steaks and the meal was very enjoyable. The chicken dish was nothing special, but the three steaks we liked quite well.
Given the cost of the meal, I was expecting better. It was okay to try the Aberdeen Barn once, but we will likely not return."

reservation made was on Valentine's Day, but I also noted it was to celebrate our 22nd anniversary on the 16th. was a bit disappointed there wasn't something more special presented-either a rose offered to ladies as they entered, rose sitting on the table, or if they had offered something special for the anniversary occasion, would have been really exceptional."

"All and all it was a good experience. Good ambiance, great server, but unfornately, four out of the six of us had to have our steaks returned because they were not cooked as requested. The management was nice enough to comp us desert and our bottle of wine, and the second version of the steaks were just fine. We will be back again!"
