Le P'tit Laurent is owned by Laurent Legendre, whose passion for great food and wine has resulted in a fine reputation in his adopted San Francisco. Born and raised in Paris, Laurent studied at the internationally acclaimed Ecole Hoteliere and worked at top Parisian restaurants Tour d'argent. Elysee Le Notre, Arpege and Amphycles.
While on vacation in the United tates in 1996, he fell in love with San Francisco and decided to make it his home. Since then he opened Clementine Restaurant in 1998, Bistro Clement in 2001 and his most recent success Le P'tit Laurent open in July 2007.

"Came back and brought my dad for his 74th birthday. At the last minute we had to add a 7th person to our 6 person reservation, and they accommodated us without a problem. Service was great; relaxed and present without being pressured. Food was consistently great across starters, salads, soup and main courses. We tried every dessert and all were excellent- the carmelized french toast was most popular, the chocolate souffle a close second. A wonderful night!"

"This place was absolutely awesome went there on a whim and was just blown away. First of all it is the owner who attended to us from start to finish. He made the food recommendations and we were not dissappointed. The food and wine choices were spot on. I had the sea bass and my date had the lamb plate. To say the food was good is a understatement at best. Everything we tried was very good and the portions were not skimpy either. And lets say the price was very reasonable. Overall you have to give this place a try you wont be dissappointed!"

"My wife and I took our 2 kids (age 12 and 9) on a Tuesday after work. The place is really nicely designed and has a very warm, comfortable feel. The food was great. Escargot and oysters for appetizers were both fantastic. I had the soup of the day (celery cream), and it had a wonderful texture and flavor. I had the Moules et frites, and the mussels were perfect. My wife had bass with a mushroom risotto, and it was excellent. My daughter had lamb shank and it loved it. My son (age 9) is not very adventurous, and the server was happy to accommodate him with a bowl of plain pasta and cheese. Service was attentive yet very comfortable and relaxed. Fantastic food in a warm, welcoming setting."

"Loved the tax special menu choices. The smoked salmon salad tasty & appealing. Delicious & rich sauce enrobed the lamb shank with an overall homey flavor, pleasing the palate from the first bite. The deconstructed Tarte Tatin, though nicely presented, was a little disappointing; it reminded us of applesauce anchored by gelatin. Handsome, pleasant, efficient waiters!"

"Our waitress left us for the night without saying goodbye or indicating she was leaving. We kept looking for her to order dessert until we flagged down the host. Weird.... French onion soup burnt to a crisp- both of ours. Corkage $22. They ran put of their sign. beef bourganion. Ambiance was wonderful-- very pretty and "French in feel". But the food... "eh". "My husband and I had a marvelous meal. It was the $20.13 special "tax relief" special. A good selection of first courses and main entrees. My husband enjoyed the cauliflower soup and I the salad. "Ever since it opened, I have loved this French bistro in Glen Park. The food is always good, the wine selection is great, and the service is mostly spot on. It's a cozy spot but the great food makes up for small size. I recommend it highly to anyone who wants authentic French food without the high prices of downtown restaurants."

"Solid French bistro in the heart of Glen Park. I'd come back for the mussels! Service was French -- sometimes long waits between courses. It's nice not to be rushed, but a more frequent appearance from the waiter and better pacing couldn't hurt. Beef Burgundy was good but right on the edge of being oversalted (says the salt fiend!). Worth putting in regular rotation if you're in the neighborhood."

"This is a charming, neighborhood restaurants that I plan to return to over and over again. However, this was my first time there and I ordered the duck confit which was traditionally hearty and I couldn't finish it (I always order duck confit, then I am surprised to find out how heavy it is). I thought for the price was little on the high end, since this is a French Bistro and the food they serve is reflective of such. On the other hand, I ordered duck confit which is really French comfort food, in my opinion. I was most impressed by the wait staff. Very polite, fun, and accommodating in an easy-going way. So decent food. Great ambience and service."

"The food is not as great as I thought it would be. We ate there last year, came in at 9 pm on the spur of the moment, had a great time, the food was yummy. This time we had a reservation for 8:30 pm, had to hang around in the small foyer, got seated at the same time people coming in did so kind of a drag that we did not feel special w/reservation. The beet and arugal salad was heavy on the beets. The lamb and the steak were nothing special. The chocolate fondant was really good but whatever came with it - a vanilla sorbet? was freaking weird, like gelatine with NO FLAVOR. I liked my U.S Pinot Noire and have had good Sancerre there before but friends of mine who live in the neighborhood says P'Tit Laurent's wine list is small/awful."

The one drawback is the noise. The place is too small to have much noise buffering, and if there are very many people in there, you have to strain a bit to have a two-person conversation. But it's a small price to pay, and if the restaurant isn't full, the problem is reduced significantly.
Highly recommended and worth the trip to Glen Park."

"This is a lovely spot in my neighborhood so it's very disappointing that the food just isn't up to par. The wine, bread and cassoulet were actually good but the onion soup was over herbed with oregano and the bouef bourguignon was tough undercooked nuggets of pot roast in a forgettable sauce. I made the Cooks Illustrated recipe of this dish last week and it was so superior to the restaurant - mine was tender, flaky, rich and velvety. Unfortunately, in the restaurant it was practically inedible. It's too bad because it's such a nice place - I wish l'Ardoise would buy them out and open up there instead so we could get consistently excellent French cooking."

"We were here for Valentines Day. The place was packed but we weren't rushed and were treated to a fabulous evening. The full menu wasn't available and there was a set Valentine menu for $69 for three courses, but the food was outstanding. One of us had the lobster bisque, one had the smoked salmon salad and one had the escargot to start with. Then the rack of lamb and sea bass as main courses. But the dessert course was the topper. A sampler plate for each of us of Pain Perdu, Chocolate Dipped Strawberry, Fresh Strawberry Ice Cream, Apple Galette and a Profiterole with cream, along with a glass of french champagne. Absolutely to die for and a very memorable evening shared with good friends in a wonderful setting."

"We loved le P'tit Laurent!! Although it is as far as it could be from us and still be in San Francisco, it is definitely worth the journey!
