"We were two first-timers at this M&S in Charlotte. We went there because of many good meals at the M&S in Atlanta near CNN. The unfortunate consensus was that both our dishes were sub-par. The lemon caper butter on my parmesan crusted flounder had no lemon nor caper flavor, and simply made the crust and fish feel greasy on the palate. The accompanying orzo looked attractive with small dices of butternut squash, but was tasteless. Although my companion's cashew crusted tilapia did taste of cashews, that alone did not complement the fish. It needed something more, but the Jamaican rum butter did not provide it. We did not taste any rum influence at all. The sweet potato couscous that came with it was likewise bland. We were very disappointed."

"We brought Mom in here for Mothers Day and boy was she impressed! She loved everything about this place especially the crab cakes! I was a little skeptical about bringing my 3 year old son and my 5 year old daughter, but they were well behaved (thank God) and fit right in! This was or first visit, but definitely not our last!"

"Neither the service nor the food quality support the pricing. Plus it was so noisy, we could not communicate with our guests. We had to go elsewhere to have a conversation. Too bad, because they have such a good location and nice decor."

"We were greeted prompted and with smiles. After we were seated, we had to wait between 5 and 10 minutes for someone to come and claim us, but I would say that was the only service glitch. Also, I personally enjoy a few minutes (at a minimum) to allow my last course to settle in before the next course arrives. Our entrees arrived just as we were taking the last bite of our calamari (which was cooked to perfection, by the way.) I realize that some folks like their fine dining experience to be more like a fast food experience, but I am not one of those folks. My grouper was a tiny, tiny bit overcooked, but it was very enjoyable all the same. My wife couldn't say enough good things about the Ultimate Mixed Grill."

"We tried this restaurant during Restaurant Week and couldn't wait to go back. It is a little pricier than we are used to, so we saved it for a special occasion. We were celebrating my husband's new job. We made our reservation the same day using Open Table and were seated as soon as we arrived. Love the valet parking option, especially since it was rainy weather! Our server Johnny was fantastic. We had a nice relaxed experience. The food was excellent including our raw oysters, my salad and the not-to-be-missed lobster bisque! Our entrees were all top notch too. Dessert was okay, but certainly wasn't a deal breaker. The exquitely prepared seafood is unmatched, and this is by far one of our fave places!"

"My wife and I were very disappointed. We had the shrimp appatizer that was highly recommended by our server. It was bland and mediocre at best. Unimpressive to say the least.
Then, our entrees were just plain BAD. I had the parmesan crusted chicken that was just a hot mess soaking in a pool of butter. It was completely inedible. I don't even remember what my wife ordered but it was less than impressive.
We didn't eat anything and left hungry."

"Hard to go wrong with the hot blue crab dip and pita triangles as the appetizer. For the main course, I had the Mahi Mahi. Perhaps the best I've ever had. My wife had the tilapia. She was at first surprised a bit by the spiciness, but then enjoyed it tremendously once she got over the initial "shock" of normally mild tilapia being so lively. Both dishes were outstanding. And the waitress was equally so. Attentive, but not bothersome. Friendly but not too much. A perfect night for our 28th anniversary celebration."

"Service was great. We had several questions and he took the time to patiently and thoroughly answer them all. Was very knowledgeable about the wine list as well. I ordered the Mahi Mahi" and the seasoning and garnishes were superb, but the portion was on the smaller side, and the fish was a tad dry. I have no doubt they would have re-fired one for me had I asked, but we were going to a show afterwards, so I didn't have time. The place was great other than that, so I'll definitely give it another try."

"I keep coming back to M&S, and for good reason. Great selection of seafood (other if you want, too) and it's well-prepared. Atmosphere is changeable, which I like--at one moment it's a vibrant, energetic place, and the next, quiet and relaxed. The restaurant has many personalities, suitable for all. "While my lunch was great, I specifically requested one particular server when I made my reservation but was served by someone else, at which point I figured the server I requested was off that day. To my disappointment, the server I requested stopped by my table and asked why I didn't sit in her section. I ask for this particular server because she knows me, knows what I order and makes sure I get back to work quickly. The people who seat the door need to take a closer look at guest requests on their reservation system and check for notes/requests."

"Our usual favorite clam chowder was off this time and not as good as it usualy is. One thing I have noticed lately is that the music playing is a little loud and doesn't seem to match the atmosphere of the restaurant. The steak was excelent compared to a previous one that was just average. Fried oysters were very good as well."

"Overall, service and food were good.The wine was excellent as well as the potatoes and salad. My husband had the rib eye which was cooked to his liking and very flavorful. However,the filet that was ordered well done was burnt and overcooked. This was the only disappointing part of the meal. Had wonderful desserts as well."

"I was there for a dinner with my client so keep that in mind as you read this.
The waiter interrupted our conversation several times. If he would simply ask "is everything OK?" and leave it would have been fine but it was never that simple. He was attentive but doing so while trying to be invisible during conversation would have been much more desirable.
Finally, when I'm entertaining a client the last thing I want is a sales pitch on the Landry's dinner club card (or whatever the name). I take my clients to high-end restaurants because of the food, atmosphere and service, not the added values or gimmicks. The first two were outstanding. The service would have been fine if I would have been paying for a child's birthday dinner."
