"We were celebrating our anniversary and our menus had Happy Anniversary on them- but the positive experience stopped there. It took our server 20 minutes to inform us that they didn't have the champagne we ordered - then another 20 minutes to return with a lower quality but more expensive option. The appetizers were good, but when we ordered wine, he never brought it - so we left and went next door to Ruth Chris and had an awesome experience there."

"We had an excellent visit. My only concern was the cost of the dessert. They advertise $2.95 desserts at lunch; however, my dessert cost $7.95. Perhaps only certain desserts are $2.95, but I feel they should have disclosed it if that was the case. I still would have ordered it, since everyone was ordering dessert for the occasion. I would just like to have known. I did not want to spoil the occasion, and the restaurant had been so wonderful to us, even giving us a discount on the entrees for our loyalty, so I didn't make an issue of it. I will certainly ask before ordering going forward. I love eating there, and will certainly go back. It is relatively quiet; it is a great way to relax at lunch; and the service is friendly."

"Overall, the experience at McCormick and Schmicks was good. The food was good (not great, not terrible). I had the lobster ravioli, which was kind of bland and left me feeling somewhat hungry. Last time, I had the crab legs, which I wish I would have had again this time."

"We celebrated Valentine's Day and we were originally skemptical due to the reviews we had read prior to our visit. The reviews were so far off the mark! Our whole experience was amazing! We had the Surf and Turf and the lobster was one of the best that we have ever had. I will be highly recommending this fine establishment to many friends and family."

"My husband and I went to dinner for Valentine's Day and had a great time. We were seated within 3-4 minutes of our reservation time, and our server greeted us promptly. We did have to wait for several minutes for each course, but not much longer than I would have expected for a busy holiday evening. I did not care for the lobster bisque because I found it too sweet, but my husband thought the mahi mahi was delicious. We both recommend trying the seasonal menu offerings and the dessert selections! The decor was ocean related, but not overkill and tacky. Make sure to notice the beautiful stained glass ceiling art above the reservation area in the entry way."

"The waiter was outstanding, the Calimore was fresh and out of this world, the steaks were done perfectly to order. Outstanding desserts, The only bad mark was one of the side dishes (Crab Cake) was not served as hot as I would have liked it. The Valet parking was a great help."

"Overall I was disappointed. We had reservations for 4pm. We were there @ 4pm and had to wait 15 minutes in the cold. The doors were locked. We could see the hostess, on the phone, @ the podium. There were 5 other couples waiting outside with us and the hostess didn't bother to let us in until quarter after the hour. Also valet parking wasn't available yet either. There was a "special menu" available for Valentines Day weekend, but we had to ask about it, before it was provided. The staff just seemed rushed and overwelmed, but they had just opened, it was crowed yet. Food was okay. I might go there again for drinks and appetizers after work, but not for dinner again."

"Wonderful experience...a Valentine's Day evening meal is a trick to pull off with so many folks, but M&S handled it very well. Very professional staff and outrageously good food combine to make this a don't miss. Popular bar scene makes for an energetic environment unless table is remote, so keep this in mind if quiet conversation is what you're after. You may find it adds to the enjoyment...it's full of life! Be a part!"

"Requested table was honored at the time of reservation, even got seated a few minutes early. Ambiance was outstanding, food was outstanding, but service was not so great. Waitress seemed very stressed and overwhelmed. I realize it was a very busy night (night before Valentines) but she should have been more prepared to handle the crowd. Less than average service might keep me from coming back and spending $100 for a meal."

"After our plans to go out of town for Valentine's weekend got cancelled because of the weather, we were really hoping to find something special to do for Valentine's night. The Valentine's prix-fixe menu at McCormick and Schmick's seemed perfect for us--and it WAS! The food was absolutely delicious, the ambience was perfect, AND we got to people watch because we had a window table with a view of Tryon Street. I can't wait to go back!"

"My husband and I visited this restaurant on the Saturday before Valentine's Day, so it was understandably busy. We waited a few minutes to be seated, although we had reservations. The hostess who seated us called for a "party of two" instead of addressing us by name. In the waiting area, we were seated next to another couple, so we did not know to whom she referred. Our server raced around the restaurant (as did all others) but did not speedily deliver our salad, soup, and bread.

The Valentine's meal was tasty but was served in small portions. This was the first time I went to a restaurant in this class and was able to finish everything on my plate. We'll stick with Morton's or Ruth's Chris, which offer more food & professionalism."

"I wanted to surprise my Husband with a fun birthday dinner. Not only was he surprised, I was as well! The menu said, "Happy Birthday" on it with the date. We were seated in a private room with drapes for privacy- SO romantic and we felt very special! On top of all that, he was given a wonderful birthday dessert. We really had a wonderful time and the food was spectacular!"

"Dined here during restaurant week with a group from work. Our group of 6 was seated promptly. I was disappointed that once the server found we were planning to order off the restaurant week menu, the service went south. We were rushed through and beverage refills were rare. Chopped salad was ok, although nothing to write home about. Crab cakes were excellent, as was the steak. Creme Brulee was ok, although not carmelized enough.

Here's my take. Restaurant week is how you get people in the door and make them want to come back and pay full price. If your service fails then, you don't get another chance. Likely, I'll be trying one of the many other wonderful places in Charlotte on my next business trip."

"We booked the reservation with Open Table. We arrived to the dinner about 10 minutes before our reservation. When I went to check in the hostess said there was a long wait and I explained we had a reservation and she said that there was still along wait. We then went to the bar and about 30 minutes later we went to check in and she said there is still a long wait because people are not leaving their tables. When much later we questioned the bar staff they explained that the Open Table reservations were all lost for the evening because of a computer problem. After a long wait we just ate at the bar. I was frustrated because we were celebrating a big birthday for my mother and this was meant to be a special treat."

"We went to Charlotte Restaurant week there. Everything was "okay" but not impressive. Okay works for regular evenings out, but is not good on a finer dinner. "I had been meaning to go to McCormick and Schmicks for a long time, and I have to say that I was a little dissappointed. The appetizers were very good, but the main entree was less than excellent. The food overall was ok, but not what I had expected, I could have gotten that quality of food for much cheaper. The ambiance was also dissappointing as there was a lot of noise coming from the kitchen, waiters were very friendly, but not as professional as I thought they should have been."

"It was a rainy night so the Valet Parking was well received. The Valets were there to greet and got the car off the street quickly. They have nice bar-lounge area where we had a cocktail & caught some of the playoffs while we waited for our party to arrive. Good selection of wines and beers on tap. We were seated and at "our leisure" and didn't feel pressed. Server was "good" but not exceptional. Enjoyed hor dourves and great meals, about right in size. The desserts were excellent, save room for upside down apple pie. Valets were running hard to get everyone's cars for departure. Waiter could have offered to take tickets to valet which would have been good for all. Very Good restaurant, worth the visit."

"The oyster sampler was interesting and a good way to try different types of oysters. The lobster bisque was excellent. The Mahi Mahi was good. The scallops with mushroom and lobster risotto was a disappointment. The risotto, while cooked properly, was bland and the scallops were breaded and overcooked. We ordered a side dish of macaroni and cheese that came to the table with the bread crumb topping burnt/black."

"A couple of notes:

1) The restaurant DID NOT have my reservation and could not find it. I offered my confirmation number but they ignored it but did find us a table...it seems suspicious like that goofed up but wanted to blame it on me.

2) I ordered a filet mignon and my wife ordered crab cakes and we were going to share with each other. The filet was ordered medium well and came out rare to medium. The waitness completed agreed and send it back and this time it came out medium rare. It was send back for the third time and came back medium. I asked for the manager and he agreed that they had messed up and took the filet and the crab cakes off the bill. My wife and I ended up sharing the cake cakes for our dinner."

"We went out with another couple for New Year's Eve. The restaurant had its regular menu, specials, and a pre-set menu available. We have been at this location many times prior but on this occasion the service was awful! Our waiter either did not like us or just did not want to be there. We had 7:30 reservations and did not get out until close to 11:00 p.m. We were given the wrong order, steaks were not cooked correctly, and we were told they ran out of steak knives. The place was not busy and we even went for New Year's last year, which was much busier."

"This was my first dining experience in Charlotte and it was great. It was New Years eve in the uptown area and it was probaly the best date I've no scatch that it was the best date experience I will ever have in my life!!!!! The bar service was fun and quick with good size drinks that were worth the money. The meal was real pleasure we started with the calamari witch when your from RI you know when its overcooked and this was near perfect. We also had the iceberg wedge with blue cheese that was crisp with just the right amount of dressing. For the main course we had decide on spliting the Chilean Sea Bass and it was melt in your mouth perfect I just can't say enough, wether it was the moment or the food I can't decide. Unbeleivable fabulous"

"Overall a very nice restaurant with A1 service. Certain dishes on the menu such as the trout and salmon were very bland and somewhat disappointing, however, they do have a very tasty crab dip served with a cheesy flatbread. "Celebrating Christmas dinner at this restaurant was a wonderful experience. My family and I recently moved to Charlotte and wanted a special place for Christmas dinner - and this was definitely the right place. Our server was the best - very polite, informative, considerate of our nine year old grandaughter and we'd certainly recommend him. The food was very good and it was fun for everyone to have such a wide selection of menu items to chose from. We definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone and we will definitely be going there many times in the new year."

"The McCormick & Schmick's location at 4th and Tryon streets in uptown Charlotte, NC has been a very special place for me since first visiting it in June of 2007 when the National Square Dance Convention was held in the nearby convention center. Since then, my lady friend and I have made it a point to visit aforementioned Charlotte location every year on my birthday, which falls on December 11. I particularly enjoy the view from a booth or table located along the S. Tryon Street side watching people coming and going as they leave the workplace. Inasmuch as it is the Christmas season, it so reminds me of the Christmas carol, "Silver Bells", which has the line "...City sidewalks, busy sidewalks, dressed in holiday style...""

"Had an early dinner out with the family. This is a good choice foe us as we have a variety of needs,1 vegetarian, 1 with food allergies, 1 carnivore, and 2 omnivores. Food was very, very good. Bar prices were steep... a 2 ounce pour of Maker's Mark was $11.55... funny I bought a 750ml bottle last week for $26!

Overall... a very good dinner out."

"We went to McCormick & Schmick for dinner. We arrived early and were seated right away. We sat there for 10 minutes and were never approached. The table next to us was seated, they were approached withing seconds. We continued to wait. When their server came and took their order and we still had not been approached we left.

We will not go back to this restaurant. As members of their frequent diners club, we went to use my birthday dinner. They have lost two customers, and our poor word of mouth to our friends."

We were offered a dessert (FOC) because of our other 2 requests not being available. Ordered the apple pie and the crust on top was burnt. Could have just been an off night for the staff and this was our 1st visit to this restaurant. Overall, the food was good."
