Considered one of the top ten seafood restaurants in the nation, Jake's Famous Crawfish has been a downtown Portland landmark for more than 118 years.
Jake's Famous Crawfish features more than 30 varieties of fresh fish and seafood flown in daily, making a true Pacific Northwest statement using fresh Northwest products and served in a traditional and timeless presentation.

"We've been frequenting Jake's Famous Crawfish for over a decade. Everything is always consistently terrific.... from the seafood tower, fresh oysters, or prawn cocktail, to the crab and shrimp and brie stuffed halibut (or salmon, depending on the season), every meal we've ever had at Jake's has been terrific. Great ambience, and good reliable service. We always request a booth by the window - get's us away from the main restaurant noise, and we can people watch as well. Cheers to you Jake's, we'll be back!"

"Jakes is a good place to go with friends for a good meal. The service is friendly and attentive without being intrusive. On this visit we found the appetizers and soups to be outstanding. The entrée for all of us was some type of fresh fish which was good but not inspired. The dessert tray, as usual, looked great and our selections were all delicious."

"Food was o.k. Service was fair. We felt very disrespected when management insinuated that we were dishonest with our gift certificates. It was not a good way to end our first (and last) time at Jake's. There are many other restaurants in Portland that have better food, better service, and a more welcoming atmosphere."

"I love the ambiance of this place - The chilled crawfish appetizer was a great start, and their clam chowder so delicious. My husband had the razor clams which were prepared perfectly. I had the twin Maine lobster tails a real treat! Service was well-timed and friendly - no rushing us through, which was greatly appreciated since were we enjoying a special celebration. I definitely would return and hope to very soon."

"Took my parents & friends (party of 6) here for a post-commencment lunch. We were seated on-time, and they had took note on of my request from my reservation about wanting 'a table preferably by the window'. "We sat first at the bar, as we had arrived early. The bartender was sour. He didn't greet us nor was he welcoming in any way, not cracking a smile during our 30 minutes there. We then proceeded into the dining room where our server was friendly. She was the only high point of the evening. The appetizers we ordered - fresh oysters and some fried calamari - were adequate, but nothing to rave about. The entrees were not even that good. The salmon was overcooked. The halibut tasted like dessert - it had an overly sweet crust, salsa and sauce that made the whole dish nearly inedible. I don't get why this place is still so popular and bustling. Must be riding on its iconic status alone - it's sure not the food. We won't be back."

"Jake's is one of those classic restaurants that has been around for a long time, and there's a reason. They have great food and great service. For an appetizer we had crab/shrimp cakes that were excellent. The group had razor clams, salmon, and halibut, and everyone was very pleased with their dish. The chocolate bag was shared for dessert and was delicious. They're continually refilling your water and most of the time you don't even notice. We cant' wait until we visit Portland again, so we can go back!"

"I have to say that the service was impeccable. The wait person was crisp, charming and no pressure. He was helpful but didn't intrude or linger too long. I appreciate service like that. The food though, was uninspired... Not bad, just not worth the high cost. The restaurant itself is over 100 years old and very old school lovely with dark woods and linen table cloths. I felt after living in Portland all these years that we should at least try Jake's once, as it is a landmark establishment. But, I doubt we'll return, as there are so many other restaurants with better food. Perhaps they could step it up a bit in the preparation, because it is a landmark and I would like to see it's continued success."

"Had several appetizers, all of which were good-great. Unfortunately, ordered the Crawfish Boil. Cannot complain in any way about the amount of crawfish, but there was an unrecognizable herb in everything which just made you not want to eat it every time your nose got near the bowl. Was compelled to simply leave most of it untouched. When the waitress asked how it was and I made the same comment, she agreed, saying people that liked that particular item either liked it or really disliked it, "about 50=50".
I would go back again, however, and try something else, the menu looked great."

"I've been going to Jake's occasionally for 20 years. It' lost some of its class, sad to say. Wait staff was overly exuberant and continually tried to push the most expensive menu items in obvious bid for larger bill and commensurate tip. To cap it off she made a pitch at the end of the meal to join their frequent diner club and told us that they are now part of 400 restaurants or so. There are plenty of fine restaurants in Portland that offer better dining experiences without feeling like you are in an upscale Olive Garden. Don't think I'll be back."

"I expected it to be not very brave or original food, and to be somewhat outdated. But I at least expected good quality for the price. $29 for a six ounce piece of salmon that was (supposedly) cedar-plank roasted (I detected no such flavor)? The accompanying three stalks of asparagus and a few matchstick pieces of carrot were ok, but essentially unseasoned. And mashed potatoes? Really? Still? Mashed potatoes with fish? Terrible in taste and the idea that somehow bland, mushy potatoes go well with fish (itself a soft food with little texture). If I had paid Red Lobster prices, perhaps this would have been a bit of a worthy dining experience. But as it stands, come on guys, I know this place is an old landmark, but come out of the 80s already"

"The service is always exceptional and the food excellent. There are many wonderful specialities, but fish is always fresh and desserts are a great adventure. Try the chocolate bag with berries, white chocolate mousse. Even the bread is one of the best in town,
It is a great place for a first date, or a 25th anniversary. I have done both, the former several times."

"Jake's is my mom's favorite place to eat in Portland, so I knew this was the perfect place to make reservations for Mother's Day brunch. The food was amazing, we all ordered different items and shared, everything was equally delicious. It was a lovely meal, all in all. Our waitress was super friendly, but pretty slow, and we had to ask for things like cream for coffee more than once."

"We had a very poor dining experience here. We come all the time and the last time we went the service was very poor. Our waiter did not check on us a single time to see how anything was, to ask if we needed another drink... nothing. The food was also less than satisfactory and our salads had to be made again since the portion size was about two bites and thats all. For the price and how expensive it is, my husband and I decided we won't be going back for quite a while. I would much rather go to a place like El Gaucho, Ringside, or Blue Hour where you know both the food and service will be great."

"The menu was very limited. I don't eat eggs and every dish on the menu was egg based. I will eat french toast and asked if it had cinnamon in it (I don't like cinnamon) all the waitress said was "probably" she never even offered to check. So I ordered the kid's menu waffles. Nothing al a carte like toast or even fruit. Took for ever to get water. Never offered coffee refill. I also saw other servers bringing small pieces of cake we assumed for mothers but I was never offered one. Maybe a few more waitstaff would have been helpful on a busy day. I know they don't normally do breakfast. But either do it right or don't do it. They menu was not on-line so I had no idea what a limited selection there was."

"My wife and I used to come to Jake's in the 80's when we lived closer in to Portland. Our son's graduation dinner was a special occasion that we wanted to be memorable for out of town family. Our expectations were exceeded - food and service were the best. Attentive server who took good care of the grandmas who needed extra attention. Seafood is to die for - would highly recommend Jake's for anyone coming to Portland on business or vacation."
