"Very old school. Waiters in black suits, steak diane prepared tableside (you smell the garlic as soon as you enter the restaurant), dover sole with almonds & butter, bananas foster for dessert (also tableside). The room is very intimate and lovely and service is perfect. A don't miss if you're near the airport and definitely worth a trip from the city or suburbs."

"Finally! A restaurant that lives up to expectations! My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at Cafe La Cave with oysters rockefeller, rack of lamb, and creme brulee. The food and service were both outstanding. Our waiter told us that he had been at the restaurant 34 years, so either the owners treat their staff extremely well or the waiter is part owner. The waiter and maitre'd' singing happy anniversary, a scoop of ice cream with a candle, the ability to converse and actually hear each other, the quiet and candlelit ambience - all made for a truly satisfying experience. Mind you the prices aren't cheap, but for the quality and quantity of the food, everything was very fairly priced. Go and enjoy!"

"I have been going to cafe la cave for 30 years. It has always been my special place to eat. Every time I dine there, I alway order the beef stroganoff,which is off the menu, but if you request it, they will make it. It's the only entree I order."

"We had a very pleasant dinner in the "Cave" room. It was quiet. Service was fantastic. The food was very good to excellent. My Steak au Poivre was cooked perfectly and was quite tasty. My wife's Salmon was a bit on the salty side, as was the bed of spinach on which it was served. This restaurant and this room are perfect for a quiet dinner."

"I chose this restaurant near my hotel to take my wife for the one night she was joining me for dinner while I was doing business in Chicago all week. We both had fabulous food and wine, and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. We recommended to some friends from the Chicago area, and they already knew about it and were delighted that it was a good experience just like it had been for them.
I highly recommend the Cafe La Cave."

"Fantastic food. Having dined here in excess of 20 times in the last several years, I've sampled just about everything the menu has to offer. Each time the meal is classy, elegant, and delicious. My "go to items" are Escargot and French Onion soup to start,a cool and crisp Caesar salad after that, and then it's Steak au Poivre is my most frequent choices. The fillet is often fork tender and always cooked to perfection. All of the sides are equally fresh and tasty.
What else can I say about Cafe Le Cave other than it's a romantic and timeless location for any occasion. I was married here and will dine here often."

"I made the reservation on open-table and had not been there for a few years. In my request I asked to be seated in the main dining room - in a booth for a special celebration. Unfortunately, the room I had requested had previously been turned into a ballroom and was no longer a dining room. We were seated in the "cave" dining room - which has no booths and is also the bar (one big room) - I would think that upon seeing the reservation request the restaurant would have notified us that they were no longer using the room I requested for dining - only banquets - it was disappointing to say the least!"

"This restaurant is cozy, romantic and fun. The dishes and silver ware were wonderful, the walls and ceiling of the 'cave-like' restaurant were so fun! The lighting was comfortable, the wait staff were friendly and attentive, and the food was fantastic. We both loved the Oysters Rockefeller! The pineapple vodka martinis were amazing. We had a table in the corner by itself that was especially nice. I plan to go back in 2 weeks! What an enjoyable experience!"

"I thought the dining experience was good as a whole. It was a bit loud with a number of young customers at the bar in the Le Cave dining area. My wife liked the atmosphere and the service was good. It was my wife's birthday and the waiter did not sing Happy Birthday as he did for other customers which was disapointing. However, we would come back again and hope that next time the staff would do more to help celebrate the occasion such as another birthday."
