Mandu's newest location, opened Jan 2011, is located at the City Vista building in the Mount Vernon Triangle neighborhood. Mandu opened on 18th St. in the fall of 2006 by Chef Yesoon Lee and her two children, Jean and Danny. Chef Lee presides over the kitchen making sure that the recipes and dishes taste as she was originally taught being raised in Seoul. Her specialty is creating homestyle Korean dishes that one would enjoy in her own kitchen. Jean and Danny run the operations and service, providing a fun and energetic environment that offers the comfort and ease of a neighborhood restaurant.

"love Korean food! Take friends who have never experienced Korean food, the staff is knowledgeable and friendly, always willing to offer people new to the cuisine advice. The food is great providing Koren mainstays like Bi Bim Bap (including Dol Sot Bi Bim Bap), Galbi, Bul Goki, Chap Chae, Kimchi, and of course Mandu!!! Nice drink selection too. Don't forget Moochi for dessert."

"Great Sunday lunch/brunch platter! Awesome deal, we were overstuffed with just this- and this included sorbet! We loaded up on the sojutinis, and had a great time here."

"Food was great, but service was ridiculously slow. It wasn't the waitresses fault -- she was pulling double duty by working as the server and the busboy. At one point, it took over 20 minutes for us to get the drinks we ordered."

"All of the pancakes have authentic Korean qualities. The meat mandu (dumplings) are the best of the three varieties. Closest to mom's cooking. The brunch platter was full of authentic Korean food, with some gim bap (Korean maki), Korean omelet, zucchini pancakes, julienned fried potatoes (too oily and soggy, but that is kind of authentic), and spicy marinated chicken (choice of meat). Well worth $13."

"The service was spectacular. Very friendly and very attentive. Our food was also very delicious. This was my 1st visit here and I want to go back because there area a lot of entrees that look like they would be good."

"I was looking for a suitable place to bring my friends who were visiting from out of town with their 11-month-old baby. I wanted to take them somewhere that was a bit more sophisticated than a pizza place or burger joint, but still somewhere that would be kid-friendly. This was a great choice! It has a simple, chic atmosphere, is not too noisy, and has enough variety on the menu that there is something for everyone. The food was yummy but seemed a little Westernized--I'm not sure it is very authentic Korean food, but I'm not that familiar with authentic Korean food, so I guess I'm not really qualified to make that call. I would definitely go back."

"I enjoyed my meal and drinks at Mandu. The Bimbimbap (beef, rice in a hot stone bowl) was great and since I enjoy spicy food, the accompanying hot sauce was a welcome pleasure. I also got the Maker's 46, which was a great drink. I would reccommend this restaurant and will be going there again."

"Food was mostly bland. Tried 3 different items. One was alright and the other two lacks flavor completely. The restaurant has good decor and is a nice intimate space."
