"At a friends suggestion, I chose Zy for an intimate brunch with friends for my birthday. I was blown away the minute I walked in and was impressed till the very end. Personalized menus, friendly waitress, excellent food, and great price!"

"This was our 2nd time here and loved it as much as the first time. We had the meatballs as an appetizer - delicious. I had the mac and cheese (too much for one to eat) and my husband had the pork. Both perfect. The service was great, and good choices for wine. I recommend a reservation - we went on a Wednesday and it was packed. How can you beat free valet on top of it all? Downside? Wood chairs. Oh well, the food makes up for it."

"Really really good. I'm from San Francisco and am visiting here in SLC. Being from San Francisco we get exposed to the best of the best. Zy stands up anywhere. Outstanding food, service etc. But what was the most interesting was that the food jumped out at you. Flavors were alive, interesting mixes of food came out outstanding. A pleasure to eat there. I'd recommend it, even to my food snob friends from San Francisco!!!"

"We were there for a birthday dinner. We enjoyed most of our dishes, and a glass of whiskey. Unfortunately the fried potato starter and the duck breast entree were too heavily salted. Zy took the potato dish off our tab, which we appreciated."

"Enjoyed look and clean décor of the restaurant. However, the open ceiling in the front would make the restaurant very noisy on a busy night. Highly recommend the mac and cheese. The ham and English peas really made the dish. Table was split on the chicken one thought it was perfectly spiced and flavorful, while the other thought it well cooked but somewhat lacking. Lamb shank flavors were over powered by the tapenade. Everyone loved the “french toast” dessert! Service was friendly and very accommodating."

"Our server Max was outstanding. Had not been here since it opened and decided to give it a try based on a friend's recommendation. The presentation of the food was amazing. They have an incredible selection of cheeses and Max put together a great plate with a nice variety. I would have like to see a little broader entre selection but was very pleased with the beef tenderloin. Overall it was a very nice evening at Zy."

"The food here is great, and they have a fantastic cheese selection. The problem is that the service is horrible and the restaurant is so dimly lit that you cannot see you food. If you can ignore the untrained, amateurish waiting staff, then this may be the restaurant for you since the food is truly delicious. I will not be eating at Zy again."

"Love the setting, excellent service -- really excellent, good starter, but entree was so so. I had the special of the night, halibut -- fine, but less taste than expected. Two of our party had the duck, which was cooked perfect in the middle, but soggy on the outside and too sweet. Also, it was all brown, brown duck, brown sauce, brown wheat berries. It needed something to cheer it up. With a little work on the entrees -- more color, brighter flavor -- something a little more interesting, it would be my favorite restaurant for special occasions in SLC."

"We went to Zy for Valentine's Day dinner when we were in Salt Lake City visiting friends. Our server was very friendly and attentive and we took many of his food recommendations and thoroughly enjoyed them all. The salmon, which is smoked in a dome at the table, was a particularly delicious and memorable dish. We really enjoyed the restaurant's unique ambiance and the great views of the mountains throughout the floor-to-ceiling windows. We already recommended the restaurant to our friends who live in the area and if we are ever in Salt Lake City again, we would definitely go back!"

"We went to Zy for my fiance's birthday, and what a gem this place is! Cozy ambience, perfect level of chatter, and nice background music. The service was outstanding - our waiter Max was one of the best servers I've ever had. I had the lamb shank and he had the duck, and both were melt-in-your-mouth delicious. We had the beef and veal meatballs for an appetizer, which were also amazing. We finished up with a cheese platter for dessert - our server Max was very helpful in choosing cheeses. What a wonderful meal and restaurant!"

"Went here with some business associates for dinner. The place was only half full at 7pm on a Monday night so not so much noise and service was pretty good. Our vegetarian friend had a couple good choices though by that I mean just 2. Still, he was quite happy with his dish and a very nice potato soup. I had the pork which was melt in your mouth over sauted spinach. There were a number of tasty entrees and appetizers to pick from. So I felt like I was choosing among some items I really wanted rather than settling for something.
They had a specially bottled wine from Cline that was very nice red. Overall, we had a good meal. I eat out a lot in some really nice places all over the country. This isn't on my A list, but a very solid B."

"We had an amazing time at Zy. The food was spot on, came out hot and was plentiful. The timing was slightly off as the cheese board we ordered for a starter arrived just before our entrees. Although it would have been nice to start with the cheese, it became our dessert and centerpiece for our meal. The portions were perfect. The staff never let our water nor coffee empty. "Zy was recommended to us when our other choice was closed on Monday. The service was wonderful, and the food inventive and flavorful. Very pleased that their fish choices were all approved by the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Guide, as explained by our waiter. We enjoyed the soup of the day, a warm potato soup with truffle oil and a touch of cream; delightful. "The food was outstanding. We had the smoked salmon and the beef tenderloin and were very pleased. The cheese selection is also nice with some interesting and unique choices. The wine list was a bit disappointing, however. One of their priciest wines by the glass was a Clos Du Bois which is bargain wine. I think they would do well to offer finer wines by the glass and pair their foods with the wines/cheeses. I would have enjoyed an espresso after dinner, but I looked and didn't see a machine at the coffee bar. This would also be a nice addition (unless they have it and I didn't realize). We went for Valentines Day and I left feeling great about the experience."

"Food portions exceeded expectations. Very unique menu, well prepared, delicious. If I could point to a weakness it might be the sauces used: good but not great. Over all a 9 out of 10 kind of dining experience. Would definitely go back to explore the rest of the menu."

"The staff is experienced, polished and professional. The chef is ambitious and inventive. The wine list is solid and the dessert offerings outstanding The ambiance is distinctive, with a tall atrium creating a spacious feel. Central location offers convenience. One of the great restaurants in Salt Lake to dine at in the evening."
