"The food was great and the food service was excellent. Not so for how drinks are served.
We did not get offered a chance to order cocktails or other predinner drinks. We did get offered water. After the waitress explained how the menu works, she walks away and I have to call her back.
Our white wine for the meal is stored away from the table. After I complained that the wine was not cooling down, she brings over the bucket to show there is some ice on the bottom. No wonder it was not cooling.
I ask for the bucket and the waiter who brings it comments that it is already 1 degree cooler than normla. Really!! I don't care.
Some training is in order. For me the drinks service is as important as the food service.."

"I was in town for work and popped into Cava when I saw how well it was reviewed. Some of the food options were a little daring (avocado with caviar?) but I appreciated the creativity. Most of the 5 tapas I tried were wonderful. Would definitely return when I'm back in Toronto."

"The best Spanish tapas restaurant I've ever been to! Great ambiance, friendly service and extensive selection of wine. Big flavour on each bite. We really enjoy the forty eight hour marinated beef brisket with white puree (the puree is to die for!), duck magret and the kingfish ceviche.
One thing I don't like, I know it's tapas, but I wish there's more food on the plate."

"No 'main' courses means that this excellent restaurant's dinner style is dim sum-esque. Not that the food is anything similar but you order many small appetizers all of excellent quality. Really recommend the octopus; so tasty!!!

"There was a large and very noisy party which made it difficult to hear my companions. I think the staff could have anticipated that and seated us in a quiter spot in advance of the arrival of the group.
I have been to Cava before, but on this visit I found the variety of dishes meant that flavours were often not complimentary.
The spike embedded on the table to house the cone of popcorn was annoying. The idea of popcorn as a small appetizer, itself was questionnable."

"I heard wonderful things about the restaurant and came in with very high expectations. First off, the service was great. Attentive, helpful, offered ideas, etc. The food was good. Not great, good. My opinion is they are trying to combine too many styles and perhaps if the focus was on one specific style (e.g. Spanish), it might help.
Bottom line - the food was fine, but I don't intend to go back."

"Outstanding efforts by staff on my shortcomings...I had booked this inadvertantly for last Thursday night and showed up 24 hrs later, with a very short wait they squeezed me in (party of 4). Our female server who has been there many years, (I don't recall her name) as always was a pleasure to be with. We did for the first time the tasting menu about 8 courses, memorable was the beet salad, the venison, the flatiron steak, and according to our dining partners the Baked Alaska. Definitely still has the "Edge" after all of those years."

"I have been to Cava many times and am never disappointed. The food is always predictably fantastic (esp. the eggplant and sable fish). The churros always top off the night. Service is great and never rushed. Noisy is a good way."

"First time dining at Cava and I don't know what took me so long because the experience was excellent. Wonderful food with a surprising number of vegetarian dishes. The chipotle caramel popcorn is great to start, and definitely the eggplant tomatillo and the edamame olive bruschetta are not to be missed. Desserts are excellent as well. Service is efficient yet courteous, will definitely return."

"We had a wonderful dinner at Cava. It's so nice to know that we can go back! We chose the option to let the kitchen cook for us. Great choice as were the wine pairings. We went to celebrate a special occasion and celebrate we did, but the food is so good (and interesting) that we'll return with no reason needed except anticipated pleasure."

"Great spot for close friends and family to spend an evening. All the dishes are designed to share making it alot of fun and adventerous for the less risk adverse eaters.
The service was terrific - friendly, knowledgable and honest.
The food for the most part was excellent - from the rosemary covered french fries, chipotle popcorn to the venicen. The only disappointment of the night for us was the beef which didn't deliver the typical Cava uniqueness or our expectations.
The restaurant overall made for a great dining experience with the exception of the ice cold air that would come through every time the front door opened. While not cheap, it is a great dining experience, specifically for those special occassions."

"Totally unexpected. Does not look like much from the outside but it was vibrant on the inside. We let the kitchen decide and they brought out fanstastic share plates with lots of variety and a ton of flavour. Not a single dish disappointed, but my favourites were the beet salad, the eggplant and the oh so perfectly done scallops."
