"My wife took me here for my birthday and the food was so delicious. The seafood appetizer and clams on the half were so fresh! The fish entree melted in my mouth and the dessert was fabulous. Everything was so delicious, and our waitress, Aude, was very attentive!"

"Went for the Sunday Brunch. Jazz Singer/Band was playing. It is a lovely setting with good food and good friendly service. The Steak Tartare was amazing. The eggs and omlettes were perfectly done. Looking forward to going back to check out the dinner menue."

"Walked in and felt like we were on the Promenade in Nice!! I kept looking for the Mediterranean out the window! The menu was so authentically a bistro menu and everything we chose was perfectly prepared from the lamb chops to the roasted cod to the skate to the duck breast to the roasted chicken. Our server made us feel welcome and special. She knew the menu and the wine list backwards and forwards as she should. We chose a red from Languedoc that was rich and deep though not too expensive. Definitely a keeper!"

"Two of us dined on a Sat night and upon immediately entering the restaurant, we were told that ~4 of 8 entree items had sold out. The server told us the same thing as soon as we sat down and both managed our expectations well. It's difficult to come to a restaurant with your heart set on ordering something if it's not available, so that was well done."

"It was a great dinner. The food was fresh. The preparation was delicious. We ordered a lovely rosé to go with dinner. We started our with grilled octopus and whipped ricotta. The ricotta was great! For entree we had whole branzino and I had duck breast. The breast was too rare. I think if the chef left it in the pan for just two-three minutes longer it would have been perfect.
I think it would be a great, reliable spot where one can always expect a certain level of service and quality of food. It was not my area of town so I didn't feel that food was special enough to trek across town for."

I typically don't like Ricotta, but the way Bistro La Promenade makes theirs is awesome. Definitely made me a fan.
The staff was kind, friendly, and knowledgeable without being over-bearing.
I will be back for sure, and I recommend it to anyone who hasn't been."

"Has this place ever heard of low carb, gluten free, kids? Totally inflexible menu, staff, etc. Food was decent but didn't warrant the price. $15.00 fish soup was literally a 6oz cup. 5 leaves of endive? $14.00. In a city with so many options, and great French ones at that, skip this. You will leave hungry, annoyed by your waitress, with a lighter wallet."

"This was my first time dinning La Promedade. I first started at the bar to wait for the rest of my party. I wasn't sure which wine to order and when I asked the bartender, she seemed annoyed because I wasn't a wine expert if you will. Afterwards, I sat at my table with my party and we wanted to order appetizers first as we were still deciding on the entrees. We were told this to the waiter he said (very snappy) that we couldn't do that. We needed to order the appetizers and the entree at the same time cause that's what the chef prefers. I was surprised as I have never heard such a rule in all my dining experience. If I'm paying a decent amount for food, I should be able to order as I please. He was also inattentive the whole night."

"Loved the menu. Wish I could have tried more. I had the tuna crudo to start, which was incredible... and I order Tuna dishes most places I go. Also had the bronzio which i loved. I shared the ricotta and would recommend that. The service was quick and friendly and the scenery was cool; felt like the Riviera. Overall, I had a great time and I think my group did too. It seemed like a good spot to bring a date, so I think I'll try that next."

"This place never ceases to please! Came here with my wife the other night and loved every part of the meal. Food wise, everything was spot on, scallops and lamb were both perfectly cooked and delicious. The cheesecake dessert is also on of the best cheesecakes I have ever had. Service was also fantastic. Professional yet very warm and friendly. Our server also helped us pick out a great mid priced bottle of wine that paired perfectly with the meal. Can't wait to return!"

"On two visits to Bistro La Promenade, I found this restaurant reminiscent of the great Manhattan restaurants at which I've eaten over the years. The escargot reminded me of the great appetizer I had at Lutece during the 1970's. I recall that a colleague dipped his bread in my snail butter repeatedly. The escargot here had relatively little snail butter, but it still made for good dipping. On the second visit, I was informed enough to order the short ribs, THE dish to have on a Saturday night. It was spectacular. The dessert, a very chocolaty cake with vanilla ice cream was heavenly. My only problems were the noise and the crowdedness. I can't wait to have a quiet lunch there on a weekday."

He knew exactly how to take care of us without being obtrusive. The risotto and cod were both excellent, as was the whipped ricotta appetizer. "Host was very friendly and gave me a table i preferred to the one he showed initially right away. The chicken I ordered was far to dry and bland. The brussel sprouts were fair. The waitress was friendly, but pushy about ordering appetizers--a very low class tactic. She said to order one because the chicken would take 30 min so my friend ordered brussel sprouts. All the food came out in 15 min--sprouts and entrees all together. We we not offered salt or pepper until i asked. It was nice when the (chef who was walking around) asked me if i needed anything & that is when i asked for the salt and pepper. The short ribs and polenta were very tasty. This place has potential, but really needs to improve. Disappointed."

"Wonderful neighborhood find. Can't believe we didn't know about this place. The mixologist has some wonderful drink ideas, executed beautifully. Our waitress knew her stuff and didn't steer us wrong. Really great meals. Butter lettuce salad was special and yummy. Skate fish dinner was amazing, as was the branzino. We love that all the fishes were fileted before serving. Maitre 'D Jonathan and manager Bruno were attentive and friendly Only one comment: on a Friday at 7pm, 2 of the 3 specialty appetizers were unavailable. But we'll be back!"

"The food was tasty. I loved my beet salad. The main down side of this restaurant is the waiter. He was so rude. He seemed annoyed with our questions about the menu. He was impatient. Not helpful. Rolled his eyes. He did not represent the restaurant in a way that encourages customers to return. We actually thought about leaving the restaurant. With the exception of the waiter, the rest of the staff members were absolutely lovely. The staff member who greeted us at the door was very warm and welcoming. "If you are craving French food and looking for a romantic date spot, please book this restaurant.
We ordered the "bouillabaisse" fish soup and the "tuna crudo" appetizers. Both were tasty. Also, it is recommended to get the creamy ricotta with crispy bread.
Then we decided to get the scallops with pesto puree, and the "confit de canard" (duck leg cooked for several hours). The duck meat came out really soft while the skin was nicely crisp.

"We didn't really enjoy ourselves here. When we asked for butter with our bread, the waitress acted like it was an odd request and the amount of wine in the glasses we ordered was quite minimal. The salads were served in enormous bowls. The main dish which was the special and highly recommended by the waitress was excellent. The waiters hovered and we just didn't feel like we were welcome."

"While the staff was extremely helpful, they could not hide the fact that the food was aggressively mediocre at best. It pained me to think of how many great meals I could have had for the amount of money I spent. Oversalted cod, totally bland branzino,, weirdly out of balance mussel broth, inedible frogs legs. Only the fries, escargot and creme caramel dessert were good."

"My partner and I go quite often, either for Sunday brunch or dinner. The setting is pretty with mid century light fixtures and a pleasing color scheme that makes La Promenade a notch above your typical french bistro. The food is always good. Sunday brunch has live entertainment, which is festive but can be loud. Booths are better than tables if you want some privacy."

"A disappointment. Costly and fairly noisy. A few items on the menu were unavailable. Pork belly starter was fibrous instead of melt in your mouth tender and "Coquille St. Jacques" was not at all like the traditional. Large, barely warm scallops were served on a line of green mashed potatoes. This simple dish might have been acceptable if the shellfish had been cooked properly. They weren't and this didn't. Partner's short ribs were tasty but portion size was small and accompaniments spare. Our server couldn't remember who ordered what; surprising since there were only two of us at the table. By chance, half the dishes should have been delivered to the correct side."

"Wanted to try the restaurant based on Pete Well's (NY Times restaurant critic) review and endorsement. Quiet on a Monday, but I liked the room and the whole Branzino was superb; perfectly cooked and so flavorful even without anything added. The prices are reasonable and it seems like a nice neighborhood spot."

"Bistro La Promenade is a solid New York restaurant. The food won't shock you with originality, but everything tasted good. I thought the service was a bit rushed at first--we had barely eaten a single oyster before our appetizer came out--but once the main course came the pace was better. The atmosphere is date-night appropriate with good energy. I was never wowed, but if you're in the area I think you'd be pleased."

"What a terrible disappointment! We came on a Sat. night, at 10:30. the place was hopping, but they had run out of half the menu, including the special! When we asked for more bread to sop up a sauce, the told us they had run out of bread, too! This is unthinkable in an upscale N.Y. restaurant. The deciblal level was unbearable, as was the air-conditioning, and each time we asked the waiter if he could do anything about the blaring, deafening music or the draft, his answer was a smarmy, "do you want to see a manager?" the folks at the bar were having a good time, but that's because they didn't eat anything! I would never ever go back, and was embarrassed to have brought my guests there!"
