"We visited True for Mother's Day brunch. We had reservations and were seated immediately. The service was great and the staff was very helpful and pleasant. There was a good variety of brunch offerings and everyone in our party found something they liked. The food arrived very quickly, the portions were very large, and each item tasted wonderful! We were all very happy with the experience and will make it a point to return!"

"This was our first time at True,our reservation was @ 7:00PM Wednesday evening. We wwere greeted with a smile by the hostess and seated promptly, our visit was there was very favorable. The group I came with appreciated the attention and the knowledge of the menu from our waiter.I started with the Oyser Sliders and ended with the Shrimp and Oyster Rissotto both were GREAT!! I plan on trying everything on the menu. Thank You for our Wonderful Dining Experience @ TRUE."

"Though we live 150 miles away, we have been to True twice now - once for a brunch and once for dinner, and will definitely return whenever we're near Montgomery. We were initially attracted by their focus on sourcing local foods, much of their food is grown locally in Alabama and obtained directly from the farms. But we returned because of the exceptional quality of the food! When in season (late winter/spring), the roasted Brussel sprouts are spectacular. We also have had gulf-coast snapper far superior to most fish we find in restaurants along the gulf, and a local pastured pork tenderloin dish to die for! Every dish is a visual delight as well. Highly recommended."

They also carry native-to-Alabama beers (massive plus). Please, in the name of all that is holy, skip the chain restaurants that plague Montgomery and support this amazing local food gem."

"Date night with-out kids. Great service, friendly staff, nice low lighting ambiance with candles and fresh flower on table. Great little historic part of town. We had come from cocktail party at a neighbor merchant in same shopping area where True had catered appetizers so that worked out well. We both got field green salad w/ beets, apples and was perfectly portioned, beautifully plated. We also got the burger and mine was sans bun and hoped it could have been wrapped in lettuce but they said it was too hard to do. It came on a couple pieces of lettuce with tomato and a pepper onion relish on side. Sent mine back to cook a tad more than med (my fault - I should remember I prefer med-well). Fab creme brûlée/decaf. Mil discount! Going back!"

"My husband &I were excited to try True to celebrate our anniversary. It was a lovley experience overall! The decor is contemporary &beautiful. I appreciated the privacy we found in our indoor table, however, my husband would have liked a "busier" atmosphere. Too quiet for him. Perhaps it was because it was a rainy Thursday night-Or maybe it is still so new? We sensed that maybe with a filled reservation list, the ambiance may have been less "stuffy". We enjoyed our cocktails as well as our appetizers (loved the apple beet salad and the catfish dish). My husband really liked the filet. I had the lamb dinner--it was ok--the risotto was quite nice. The wine recommended was wonderful. Dessert was coconut pie & the chocolate mousse--Very good!!"

"The reservation system was super.
The hostess and our server were both delightful....Very nice young ladies.
The soup was superb!

The chicken salad was very different, the raisins and pecans were so good!
My friend had the fish special, fabulous!
But the end was just as nice as the beginnng. Coconut cake...yummy!

"True still is amazing. This trip was less impressive than last time we dined there, but still quite good. The server was not very knowledgeable of the menu which was disappointing to our out of town guests to whom we had gushed about how great the place is. All the dishes were superb, the only criticisms I heard from our table was about the rissotto dish. All-in-all great place we will be back."

"Outstanding! We live out of town, first time to visit this charming neighborhood. Beautiful location. Great abience. Very comfortable...not over done. Everything from our service, the cocktails (must try the Vesper!!), wine, appitizers, main course... my snapper was so fresh, I bet it was swimming in the gulf the day before!...to the dessert was amazing. "I went to True, with 3 other people, to celebrate my birthday. We saw the article about Chef Wesley True in the March issue of Southern Living and decided to give True a try. Montgomery is lucky to have him in their town. One of the best meals that I have ever had. Excellent service and ambience. For appetizers we shared the bone marrow consume with charred bread and sliced raw marinated beef. Classic French dish cooked to perfection. We also had komoto oysters with pickled mushrooms, celery root whipped cream and sweet vanilla infused radishes. The oysters melted in your mouth. For the entree I chose the gulf fish with dill oyster sauce, local radishes. I love the fact that Chef True uses fresh fish and local, in season vegetables."

"Because we travel a great deal, we count on reviews to give us confidence in choosing an exciting new eating experience. Unfortunately, this didn't hit the mark. The bartender was was very good, the drinks (though over-priced)were good...BUT the food was mediocre at best! 2 people @ $160.00 with the tip, was way more than this Saturday night deserved!!! "Glad to see the brunch menu revised and, to me, upgraded, to include bacon and eggs, though we didn't order that on Sunday. "My wife and I went there for Valentine's night. It was out first time. The location is in a decent, quiet area with adequate parking. On simply entering, the elegance was unavoidable. Staff was courteous. We had no issues with the server- she was pleasant and accommodating. My wife, being pregnant, could not drink alcohol but they found a non alcoholic cocktail which was superb.
We chose the 4 course tasting menu. I had the oysters, scallops and bison steak. All exquisite. The pricing was very reasonable considering the quality of the food. We will definitely return."

"True's menu is constantly changing, revealing new surprises each time we dine there. I have been several times and have not had one item that was less than stellar, and each was a unique combination of flavors I've never experienced. Prices vary, and there's always something for us if money is a little tight. "Too good to be True. Wonderful atmosphere and the cocktails were just right—especially the hard-to-find Pimms Cup. The meal was excellent, particularly the Shrimp and Grits. The burger is a treat, as well. The service was top-notch. Chris was knowledgeable, attentive, prompt and very pleasant. And the bill was less than $100, which is rare in a restaurant of this quality. I highly recommend it"

"This was our first visit. We were in from out of town (Atlanta) and we had the best meal we've ever had in Montgomery. We ordered the Filet Mignon with a side of Brussel Sprouts. The steak was better than any I have had in Atlanta - and I've been to them all (Bones, Chops, Hal's, etc.). Everything was fresh and amazingly cooked. The potatoes that came with the steak were also perfectly cooked. Our waiter was also very helpful and friendly. I Can't wait to head back to Montgomery again."
