Located in the heart of downtown Philadelphia, directly across from the historic City Hall and on the renown Avenue of the Arts, McCormick and Schmick's Seafood Restaurant features over 30 varieties of fresh seafood flown in daily from around the globe. The two level restaurant features traditional white tablecloth dining in dark wood paneled rooms accented by handcrafted stained glass ceilings and mosaic tiled floors.
The popular, lively bar features a selection of micro-brewed beers and ales, regional wines, single-malt scotches, fresh squeezed juices and hand-shaken cocktails. McCormick and Schmick's serves lunch Monday through Friday, dinner seven days a week and offers a $1.95 bar menu twice daily. Reservations are encouraged.

"Great Resturant near center city hotels. Warm comfortable atmosphere. Generous drinks...had my favorite Bluecoat Gin. Paremasan Flounder was delicious as as was my husband's Swordfish. Excellent choice for great meal in a very comfortable restaurant after a long day or a special place for celebration. One of this chain's better locations."

"We had a terrible experience for lunch. Our appetizer never came out. We received our meals and when asked about where our appetizers were the server asked what we would like to do with the food he just gave us. We ordered lobster bisque soup that was supposed to be prepped table side but just came out in a bowl. When asked what tabelside meant, the server said she was supposed to pour the broth over the lobster in the bowl. She told us the kitchen was a little messed up that day. Over all, it was not worth the money and a terrible meal for Mother's Day. Very disappointed. I will not be returning to this restaurant."

"The food was ok. It was overpriced. My steak was steak was o over oiled so I sent it back. By the time my new steak came out my guest was done eating. How does a steak house over cook a steak? I would not recommend this restaurant."

"I took two of my top sales leaders to McCormick's for lunch last week and was extremely disappointed. There were only three tables occupied, however the service and food prep time was that of a Friday night. All of the steaks were overcooked and I was given the 6oz filet instead of the 8oz that was ordered. We ordered shortly after sitting down but it wasn't served until 45 minutes later. The waiters seemed to be hanging out in the back vs. checking on the few customers that were actually in the restaurant for lunch. Overall a disappointing experience. Will not go back."

"Our waiter, John, was great and attentive. The restaurant wasn't real crowded. Food was good especially dessert! Would definitely visit this restaurant agazing. Only downside was the cost for parkign, but that's to be expected in a downtown parking garage."

"Beautiful dining room - tables with white linen tablecloths and napkins. Our waitress was kind, knowledgeable, and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. We had a difficult time deciding on items to order. The appetizer shrimp/crab spring rolls were outstanding. The lettuce/strawberry salad and seafood trio were also delicious."

"While several of the M&S sites I have used are well run, this location operates very much like a tourist site eatery....which it is. I had several groups there for dinner, and each time the seating was late, two times with larger (16)groups the table they set up were not large enough to provide comfortable dining conditions. Food delivery was problematic...late servings for some of the group covered with "it will be here when it gets here..." comments from service folks. When I asked to speak to a manager and get better seating arrangements/conditions - "sorry, this is all I have"; when the room was still 1/2 empty. Try somewhere else in town. I am sure there is better!!"

"I love this restaurant,but I have to say I was very disappointed. I ordered soup,and it came to our table COLD.I also ordered butterfly shrimp,they did not taste fresh. This was to be a special occasion B'Day celebration for a dear friend and her husband,and I was so embarrassed by the food,that I probably will not return to this restaurant again. I must say my server Michael was excellent,the private table (booth) on the upper level was quite cozy and quiet. I just wish they would get their food together,it's a shame,great location,nice restaurant, lousey food."

"Our dinner experience was a tale of two cities. Our fish entrees were good. However, the service was poor because our waitor did a "bait and switch" on our wine selections. Twice we ordered a medium priced bottle of red wine of a certain year. Each time the waitor brought a different year of the wine and didn't tell us before he opened it. The first bottle was past its prime and returned. The second bottle was of an inferior, younger vintage than we ordered. The manager didn't apologize or take anything off the bill, coldly replying that the wine list states (in fine print) that they can substitute comparable wines. The wines were not comparable (in quality or price) and the waitor should have told us he was serving a different year."

"I've been to McCormicks & Schmick's in Philly many times and are Preferred Members. We were always very happy with the food and service but this is the first time we've been back for awhile. It took longer than I'd like for the waiter to arrive since the restaurant was empty at 5:30pm on a Friday and I noticed all the staff was hanging around the kitchen talking. He later brought our bread, which was COLD. Our entrees came out in a reasonable time. We both ordered pasta dishes that we've had in the past. I was surprised to see the portions were somewhat smaller and there wasn't that much salmon in my dish. Not as good as I remember and probably won't be back."

"The great virtue for me of McCormick & Schmick's-Philadelphia is the availability of the Snugs. I have had any number of important private small meetings at M & S-Philadelphia using the Snugs floor and, invariably, the experience has been very good. No complaints because of how easy M & S makes things. The food is saisfactory and the service very good; sometimes excellent.
Though I am not a participant, my sense is that the Happy Hour in the main Bar area is great fun and very successful."

"Very slow service. Our reservation was at 6:15 and we didn't leave the restaurant until 9:15. The food was good. Some reported the dishes were very good, some said they were too salty. The Bailey's chocolate cake was nothing special, kinda dry and did NOT have any Bailey's taste, seemed like regular chocolate cake."

"We drove more than an hour and took our son (who attends Temple) to dinner there for Easter. The staff at the front was very unprofessional, and unwelcoming. The restaurant was extremly noisy. The servers were ok, but at times unattentive. The food was ok. We spent over $300 for three. For this kind of spend, one should have a better experience in a city like Philadelphia where there are so many other options. It reminded us of going to a low-end chain."

"My husband and I have been to M&S a handful of times. We visited this Saturday and it was probably my least favorite experience we've had. My scallops which used to be served on top of risotto were on top of potato hash. It felt like I was eating a cheap breakfast. With three scallops on top of mind you. It took the waiter 20 minutes to bring my drink and when he did he brought the wrong one. I told him that I ordered the Hardslate or not the whiskey drink with hard cider it. Which is what he brought to the table. He then proceeded to tell me that they didn't have the hard cider which really confused me because he just brought me a drink with hard cider in It. All in all it just felt like a different experience. Different management?"

"I was disapointed in the food. I have been to M&S for lunch and I thought that was a good experience. I was not impressed with dinner and i will not be going back. There are too many other places to eat - I try to stay away from chains, now i know why."

"The food was not as good as at other locations we have visited, greasy. Our server was not interested in our needs. The coffee bitter. Was charged for 2 scoops of ice cream when less then a full scoop was served. 3 scallops on an entree that cost $30. I realize this restaurant is high end, but that was ridiculous."

"We have always had great food and service at McCormick & Schmick's but our experience this weekend may have made this our last time dining here. We arrived early for our reservation but didn't think that it would be a problem (it was 4:30pm and the restaurant was virtually empty). After waiting for over 15 minutes for them to "set our table for 6", the table was only set for 5. While the prices were as expected, what we found was that the portions have been decreased by at least 30-40%. The service was poor, especially given that the restaurant was not nearly full. Perhaps McCormick & Schmick's doesn't believe that the service at 4:30pm should be the same level as that at prime dinner hour."

"I was dissapointed that I had to wait 45min to be seated. I was almost late at mya show. To make matters worst the server was so slow to get our food and everythings else we ordered. We were served cold bread which I did not expect from this place. The drinks at the bar wasn't to my expectation. My fiancee had to return the first drink she ordered while we were waiting at the bar. The food and desert were great. This was my second time at the restaurant although we had a better experiance."

"The seafood was much better than the fish. The service was excellent. The noise level was much too high for me to hear and talk with my fellow diners around a table of 6. The selection of music was much too high a tempo-too fast- to enjoy a leisurely meal,as was befitting a lovely setting. It was as if there was fast music you would eat faster and get out of there."

"Went here for an early dinner on a Sunday after attending a play about 3 blocks down @ The Meriam Theatre. The distance of the walk was great to the restaurant. We had a table of four right by the large bay windows for the scenic view of the street. The food was excellent, started off with the Shrimp & Lobster Spring Rolls, then came the main course of McCormick's Trio, it included Grilled Shrimp, Stuffed Shrimp, Salmon, Pepper & Cheddar Mashed Potatoes and a mixed green. The wine i selected was Saint M. Reisling, and dessert was a slice of Red Velvet Cake, the cake can definitely be shared by two people."
