McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Minneapolis
Unique to Minneapolis, the restaurant has several "snugs" (private booths for six with draperies) in the formal dining room. The handsome interior features handcrafted mahogany, stained glass (depicting Minnesota heritage), brass accents, and Tiffany-style lamps lending a traditional note to the interior.
McCormick & Schmick's also features a lively bar experience, with a bar staff that practices traditional mixology -- hand-shaken cocktails using only bottled sodas, freshly squeezed juices and premium liquors.

"We were so pleased with this latest visit. My husband had the Swordfish Casino. The entire plate was fantastic. I had the scallops with the crab potato hash. Both were unique, and we could not pick a favorite. We also shared the Romano Chicken Chop Salad and it was more than ample for the two of us. A winner!"

"I have eaten at these in Denver, Philadelphia and Kansas City. I've always enjoyed dinner at these. For a first, I ate here for a business lunch. Wonderful. I asked for a Black Shrimp Linquini although Chicken was on the menu. It was superb.
At eat in Boston regularly (not at M&S for one because I'm never downtown). The lobster bisque was the greatest soup I have ever had and I've had many a lobster bisque. I could have just eaten 3 bowls of it alone.
The atmosphere is very nice and the location is easy to get to in a quaint shopping area, Nicolett Mall."

"I ordered a steak. It was way overpriced for such low quality. I expected more for the money. I don't want to pay $25 for a steak that I can grill better at home. An average steak at Outback is far superior than here and that's sad The steak was bland and hard to chew.
My wife ordered fish tacos. Again, for what you get, it was nothing better than getting fish tacos at a food truck for $4. Way overpriced for poor quality foods.
At least the expensive lobster bisque was pretty good."

"The area we were in was so small the waitress could not even enter without asking a guest to move into a corner, and the she could not get food or drinks to the back without passing over heads. A tray was on one of the seats. Coffee and drinks only refilled once, empty for at least 30 mins. Multiple items were unavailable, and one replacement- the bacon-wrapped shrimp app was raw, as was the cashew crusted tilapia. We asked for 3 appetizers, but only received 2. Our apps were pulled from the table without us having finished them. The couscous was overcooked, mushy and flavorless. One of the guests left half dinner on her plate, but was too polite to say what was wrong. Soething to be boxed was thrown. Drinks and food were placed wrong. Sad."

"DO NOT plan a holiday dinner at this place. We came for Mother's Day only to find a half-empty restaurant, but our table was STILL not ready. Already a bad sign. The waitress showed up after five minutes, took drink orders, then came back almost ten minutes later and said the bartender wasn't available. The seared ahi tuna was like leather, a bottle of sparkling win was delivered FLAT, and the special of the day, a "swordfish casino," tasted like it was prepared three days before. We had to beg for refills of water and drinks. Finally, the complimentary dessert for the mothers at the table was a collection of inedible truffles.
Overall, it was by far the worst dining experience we've EVER had and an embarrassment for the M&S chain."

"Only disappointment was that they refused and then somewhat debated with me when I asked if I could move to an empty booth (which sat 4 people) as it was empty. I was told by the hostess lady walking us to our table that booth was “reserved” and I would have to talk to a manager. This all happened while standing in the middle of other diners. Very uncomfortable. Then the booth I asked for (which really wasn’t anything special) was unoccupied until right before we left."

"First of all, I am not a fussy person or a foodie, but I would have to say this restaurant has some of the worst food I have had since I can remember. The appetizers (Shrimp Kisses & Calamari) were a greasy mess - like Minnesota State Fair food. I had steak and the asparagus side was COLD and flavorless. The side of creamed spinach was runny and overly rich. The carrot cake was dry and tasted like packaged cake with preservatives at a grocery store. TERRIBLE!"

"We made a reservation for a table of 9, we were seated 15 minutes late. Service was extremely slow. The spring rolls were dripping oil, and the steak sandwich tasted off and was not eaten. Overall this was a disappointing experience for our office."

"We went to M&S for our 10 year anniversary. We were seated for almost 10 minutes before our server came to our table to even offer us water. We were comped an appetizer for the inconvenience but it had already set the mood for the meal. Felt rushed through the meal; in and out of the restaurant in 60 minutes even though there were several empty tables while we were there. Definitely not what I was looking for given the occasion. Food: I give high marks for presentation; dishes were beautifully presented but taste was off. Walleye tasted overly fishy, as did the sea bass."

"Steaks were ok, not great. Twice-baked "bowl" of unidentifiable potato substance was no replacement for a baked potato. Service, excellent.

"I took a group here for lunch for Administrative Professionals Day. We were seated right at 11:30am at the time of our reservation. However, it then took 30 minutes for the server to take our order, 45 minutes for our food to arrive, and the service was poor. When our food finally came, it was cold. I would not go back to this restaurant again."

"This experience was terrible. Coming in, we were greeted by the manager and sent to our table. At that point we waited about 15 minutes for our waiter to just take our drink order. Once we ordered our food, we then waited almost another hour for it to come, which was average. My friend enjoyed his salmon, but my meal was lukewarm. We also had to wait about 10 minutes every time we wanted our drinks refilled. When I pay this much for a meal, I expect excellent service but this place wasn't even close. Never going back again."

"Fish special which the waitress pushed hard was not tasty and ridiculously overpriced. Interesting the waitress didn't mention the price when she promoted it. Left a very bad taste (pun intended) in our mouth."

"The menu was a paper copy. I think it should be in a folder or a leather binder. I ordered broiled walleye and it came warm (not hot). The green beans served with were crunchy and delicious. My husband ordered petite fillet and it came with aspargus. He ordered a side potato and the waitress came back to say they were out of them. How could they be out when we were eating at 6 pm? He then ordered lobster mashed which were too rich and not a lot of flavor. There were others eating in the dining room but it was not busy so a lot of open tables."

"Food was good. Our waiter started off great but in end kinda forgot we were there. Another waiter approached us and asked if we had ordered yet- when we said no he took our order. It was at this point our waiter came to our table to deliver some bread from 20 min earlier. He joked at the other waiter saying - "are you trying to steal my tables?" This is when it got strange out waiter came back to us saying - "seriously....did actually take your order?" We said yes and he said nothing more and walked away. Our food arrived and it was quite good. After we finished was the quickest we saw our waiter all night. After he asked about desert we got our bill and were paid in like 5 min. Overall, I felt the food was good the service lacked."

"We had a disappointing experience. We were seated in one of the booths across from the kitchen. We could nt close the curtain to mute all the clanging dishes. My meal was three serving on three different beds. The salmon and its bed were great. He other fish was bland as we're their beds. The asparagus salad was really just blanched pieces of asparagus and halfs of grape tomatoes. There was no dressing or seasoning. Out wAiter was good but would stop by the booth , ask if we needed anything and then be gone before we had a chance to answer. Luckily he came by often enough that we could make our request the next time."

"We decided to try out McCormick & Schmicks for a date, and to go somewhere different. The location is great, and the ambiance is very nice, but we were disappointed with the quality of the food for the price.
The flagship appetizer, "The Lump Crab Tower" had surprisingly little crab, and was really shredded crab, not lump crab as advertised.
For an entree, we shared the "Spring Seafood Celebration", which had three different seafood preparations. The Salmon with the risotto cake was very well prepared, but under-seasoned.
The Shrimp were ok, but fairly small and again under-seasoned.
The Sea Bass was under-cooked and under-seasoned. It was cooked medium rare and smelled fishy.
For a $36 entree, I was pretty disappointed."

"So very disappointed. Ridiculously expensive for over cooked, overly salted food swimming in butter. A restaurant of this caliber ruining grilled shrimp is inexcusable. The server was wonderful and the restaurant quiet but $36 for an badly cooked entree is robbery."
