"The size of the crowd made us wait in the bar for half an hour before being seated but the food and service were well worth the wait. The restaurant apologized by buying our appetizers: heaping platters of mixed seafood and fried calamari with cocktail and tartar sauce - scrumptious! The Menage a Trois white complimented all of our choices. Chincoteague oysters on the half-shell were plump and succulent. Equally delicious pan-fried scallops with potato pancake, and mussels, shrimp and scallops over pasta followed, only barely leaving room for apple-walnut pie with cinnamon ice cream. And the service was right there when called for and handled our requests with intelligence and good humor. Take your mom, even if it isn't Mother's Day."

"Food is excellent but we really like the curtained tables. the privacy and quiet make for a totally enjoyable evening. this is one of the few restaurants that one can have a great meal and dinner conversation in a normal tone without any extraneous noise. very relaxing."

"One of the greatest things about McCormick & Schmick's is that they have recessed rooms with curtains instead of booths so your family has almost it's own private dining room. Our food was wonderful, our waiter was TERRIBLE. So terrible, in fact, that the manager and the host stepped in and served our table (the manager was wonderful, hence the 2nd star)."

"The restaurant seemed overwhelmed . There a substantial wait even though we had reservations. Once seated, another wait before the waiter arrived. The drink was fumbled . . . the Arnold Palmer was all tea. Eggs Benedict were very, very firm . . . had been under the lights too. No bread was ever served. The complimentary Mother's Day truffles were very good. The coffee was excellent."

"We managed to get a reservation very close to our preferred time at the last minute on Mother's Day. Had to wait a few minutes in the bar but the host was very gracious and we had a chance to review the menu. The food was excellent - especially the stuffed salmon special - and the service was outstanding. Our server, Mamoun, was prompt, helpful and charming. The complementary truffles for Mom were fabulous! This has become our favorite McCormick & Schmick's location!"

"M&S in McLean has long been my favorite DC-area eatery, and my recent dinner there for my 65th birthday was no exception. From the "Happy 65th" atop my menu (and a rolled up clean copy tied with a ribbon as a keepsake), to one of the best shrimp cocktails I have had in years, to my Caesar salad, to the Parmesan Crusted Flounder (my personal favor), to a final simply dessert of wonderful locally-made vanilla bean ice cream (with candle!), my dinner was all I could have expected. The wait staff was extremely attentive and helpful, yet not intrusive. Reserved one of the curtained off private booths, so it was a very quiet and elegant setting. Kudos to the chef and wait staff for a wonderful evening!! WE WILL BE BACK OFTEN!!!"

"We went fairly early in the evening and were seated in the back by the window and with a direct view of the service station, great. There were many tables open that we could have been sat at instead. Also, It was so cold that our hot food got cold within minutes. We could barely keep a conversation going because we were so cold. "The ambiance is outstanding. Beautiful cut glass, individual curtained dining areas, fabulous looking bar and the display for fresh oyster and crab legs is something else. Service, we had 7:15 reservations on a Saturday night and it took much too long for the maitre de to to come up front and ask our names. At least 6 waiters passed us while we were waiting. When he arrived and asked our names he seemed to have some trouble as about 2 minutes later he had to ask for them again. Once seated the wait staff was great but the cocktail menu was soiled on an inner page with an undry gravely substance. Waiter advised of specials and we ordered. Food was tasty and properly cooked. Interesting menu."

"It was perfect. I had the best waiter in the world, really a professional, not someone waiting on tables while he went to school or supplemented his income. I had the best grilled trout, grilled asparagus and carrot strips, and mashed potatoes with room for apple pie (without ice cream so that I could taste the apples). Perfect!!! "The meal was great as usual. It does seem that many folks who eat here are dressed very casually (jeans, t-shirts, flip flops). Maybe it was just the way I was brought up but dressing up to at least the business casual level seems appropriate for an upscale restaurant like this one. Also, there was only one valet--he did a good job but we had a long wait to get our car. They usally have two valets, so I don't what happened this past Saturday."

"I am sorry to say, I will unlikely dine at M & S again.
I have lived in NVa for many years, but getting pressured to join some dining club MULTIPLE times during the dining experience really left a bad taste.
IT actually made my husband upset, left little room for conversation, and made us wonder why the restaurant/chain was trying so hard to get us to dine thereagain.
It is obvious a psychologist/ team was hired to train the staff, as he must have said "YES" 20x during our order placing, etc, even when not appropriate.
That way, we would have the word "YES" on our brain and answer yes to the club.
Perhaps the restaurant could've focused more on accessing tastier, fresher fish,
because I have done much better purchasing my own at Whole"

"Reservations were ready. Hostess charming. Waiter professional and attentive. Disappointment was the food. There were 4 of us. Crab cakes were somewhat dry and had little flavor or texture. Stuffed salmon which was a special of the day was just stuffed salmon and served on a giant mound of mashed potatoes that was globbed on the plate. The mixed grill was OK but no reason to order again. The fish and chips were pretty tasty which is weird considering one would have expected the other dishes to be the reason to eat there. I realize this review is not particularly specific but I came away thinking that if this restaurant was not located by a number of large hotels and office complexes it would never get any return customers."

"Interestingly my client was over 35 minutes late for our lunch and the staff was wonderful and my server was not hovering or impatient. I decided to leave without our lunch and just then my very tardy client arrived. We were graciously seated at the same table and Mahmoud refreshed my drink that I had previously left on the table. A wonderful experience in an awkward situation. Thank you McCormick & Schmick...."

"McCormick and Schmick is an OK seafood restaurant. I personally feel they are overpriced, considering the quality of the food. Portion sizes are VERY small and the decor is typical of a chain restaurant. If we hadn't had a gift certificate, we certainly would have gone to a better seafood restaurant in the area. However, the service was very good and wait times were minimal."

"Served dish on broken/cracked plate (server response - "oh really?"); over-spiced ahi tuna ("Blackening spice"); grilled dish over-cooked across the board (salmon, shrimp, etc...). Definitely a significant drop in quality since previous visit - staff blames on location, which was never an issue for this restaurant - will not return..."

"I'm generally a McC&S fan, but this was my first time going to this restaraunt. Met a colleague for lunch and it was quite nice. The restaraunt is very well integrated into an office building - if I worked in that building, I would probably put on a few pounds. Very good service and the food meets their standard."

"The waiter seemed like it was his first job ever as a waiter. When putting pepper on our salad, he continued even after I told him to stop. We didn't get the table we wanted. The seating area seemed cramped. We have been to other M&Ss that we have enjoyed, this was our least favorite location."

"This was our second time at a McCormick & Schmick's, but our first time at the McLean location. The first visit was at the now closed Bethesda restaurant. We enjoyed the evening and the food was excellent. Our waiter was attentive, but didn't ask us how everything was nor if we wanted another drink. We enjoyed the evening and liked the atmosphere very much. We would return to McCormick & Schmick's, but may try the Washington, DC location next time around."

"Much improved since Landry's took over. Same waiters and management but the dishes are both more varied and tastier somehow, and that was before I really realized there was a change in ownership. My old standby crab soup was the same, fortunately!"
