Opal Restaurant and Bar is located in Seaside Farms in Mt Pleasant, SC. Chef and Owner Patrick Langdon Owens' second restaurant since creating Langdon's Restaurant and Wine Bar eight years ago. Chef Owens has handcrafted pasta dishes with housemade pasta. The appetizers and entrees feature many local ingredients. Also featuring a wide selection of artisanal charcuterie and cheese.
"we had a wonderful dinner with two friends....the food was outstanding, especially the steamed clams, and the chitarra pasta. Desserts were excellent, especially the chocolate hazelnut cake. Oh and the salads were spectacular, fresh greens and delicious dressings. The wine was very good, plus the mint-ginger bourbon cocktails were great! Service was excellent and unobtrusive. Room was 80% full, but we were able to hear each other easily. Highly recommend."

"This restaurant is just what Mt. Pleasant needed. Downtown quality without having to cross the bridge. Centrally located so it's easy to reach from all points in Mt. P as well as IOP and Sullivan's. Housemade pasta dishes are excellent and the steaks are incredible. My husband had the filet and it was outstanding. The panna cotta was one of the best desserts I've ever had! The only complaint I had is that the sauce on my veal Marsala was a little too sweet for my tastes. We will make this one of our go-to restaurants."

"Our first time for dinner. Kyle made a good night a great experience. His knowledge of the menu and the wine list helped to pair a good wine with our meal. We explained our preference for a red wine to go with the local seafood that was featured. Know it was our 46th wedding anniversary he gave us our space but was there on the spot when needed. The charcuterie was terrific, again aided by Kyles knowledge of the available combinations.
Add this restaurant to your list, then ask for Kyle."

"If you are on vacation in the Isle of Palms/Wild Dunes area, this is a great restaurant that doesn't require driving all the way to Charleston. We have a condo on James Island, near downtown Charleston, and I can tell you from experience that the food at Opal in Mt. Pleasant (right off the IOP connector) is on par with the best dining on the Charleston peninsula. Don't miss it."

"Warm atmosphere. Knowledgable server. Splendid menu. Good house wine selection. A new favorite right outside downtown Charleston in Mt. Pleasant. Location is a bit odd in a small shopping center. We bought gift certificates for friends to try Opals. We liked it a great deal."

"I have been here several times. The food is always good and the service top notch. The menu is somewhat limited but given the level of business (it's never been busy on my visits), I suppose that's a necessity."

"We live less than 5 minutes from Opal. We have had dinner twice and both visits were wonderful. The pasta dishes are excellent. The chef prepares seasonal offerings. The wait staff is attentive and makes good recommendations. The house gelatos are not to be missed, especially the toasted coconut. Seafood is wonderful and the filet was excellent. No complaints whatsoever and cannot wait to return!!"

"Went there for an anniversary dinner. When I made the reservation, I requested a booth in a quiet area if possible because we were celebrating our 22nd anniversary. When I arrived, everyone I spoke to acknowledged our special occasion and they seated me in a large booth in the back corner. Even though they were busy, they set aside a 6 person booth to honor my request - very classy service. On top of that, the food was incredible, the service was top notch, and the wine was also great. A very enjoyable dinner, would definitely recommend to others and we will certainly go back."

"Food was excellent. Amy, our server, was great. We have two suggestions. Offer patrons black napkins so that their black slacks do not end up with white fuzz on them because of the napkins. Second suggestion is regarding hostess seating of patrons. We arrived with plenty of 4 top tables. We were seated at a small table for two. When we asked to be moved we were told they were reserved for larger groups. Not true. Not only were 4 top used for 2 but the large booths were given to parties of two. What did we do wrong?"

"Opal is near our daughter and son-in-laws home. Made reservations easily via Open Table. Stared with a meat & cheese tray for all to enjoy. Our server was so professional and knowledgeable regarding all the meats & cheeses. Delightful. We had the following entrees: Filet, Veal, Fish, Pasta. Everyone raved about their choice. The evening ended with Creme Brule, Sorbet. Both excellent. Coffee was just warm but the server quickly remedied that with hot fresh coffee."

"WE WERE IN TOWN DURING FASHION WEEK AND DIDN'T WANT TO FIGHT THE TRAFFIC DOWNTOWN.SO AS I ALWAYS DO, I WENT ON OPEN TABLE TO LOOK FOR SOMETHING GREAT THAT WAS CLOSE BUT NOT DOWNTOWN. STUMBLED ONTO "OPAL" AND DECIDED TO GIVE IT A SHOT. GREAT FOOD , GREAT SERVICE AND YOU'D NEVER GUESS YOU WERE IN A SHOPPING AREA ONCE YOU'RE INSIDE.PRICES ARE FARE FOR THE QUALITY OF FOOD AND SERVICE. WE WILL DEFINITELY GO THERE AGAIN.RECOMMEND THE CHARCUTERIE AND CHEESES AS AN APPETIZER! EVERYTHING THAT THEY CAN MAKE IN HOUSE, THEY DO! WE TRIED A COUPLE OF PASTA DISHES AND A VEAL DISH...YUM.TO FULL FOR DESSERT BUT THAT MENU WAS IRRESISTABLE TOO!"

"The dining experience didn't "wow" us like Langdon's. We would say it was above average all around. Might give it another try if in Mount Pleasant at night."

"We have now been to Opal probably ten (10)times in groups as large as 12 persons down to just my wife and I. The service is always quite good and the food is excellent. We think that the quality of the product (food and service combined) is almost unmatched in the Charleston area."

"Very good food from a limited menu - better than expected from a shopping plaza restaurant - dining room was pleasant and service was good but not exceptional."

"My husband and I went to Opal after reading of it on Open Table, expecting great things. Unfortunately, our server was fairly new and the visit suffered. Our drink order was not smooth and then we waited--and waited-- for entrees to appear. Finally she came to the table to say that the order "had not been fired" and would be arriving as soon as possible. We were offered a free dessert which we declined-- and she brought half-glasses of wine while we waited. The food was tasty when it hit the table-- I really liked the pasta with lobster, fennel and corn, and my husband's tilefish was good. The server returned once more to say that the entrees would be "comped" and we appreciated that -- but we would have been glad to pay for a timely servic"

"sauce on clams was a little overwhelming Tile fish was lovely but slightly too much salt surprised by $100 per couple for 2 salads, 2 entrees, 2 beers and 1 glass of wine - seemed a little high Would go back though"

"Loved the relaxed atmosphere; however the ambiance could be improved by somehow lowering the ceiling. My hanger steak was excellent! My husband had the chicken with risotto and he said the chicken could have been more tender but the risotto was excellent. We also had the chef's special dessert which also was excellent!"
