"We vacationed in the Santa Fe area and El Meze was our last dinner in the area. A perfect ending to a vacation. The design is a combination of intimate and romantic and is highly conducive to conversation with both guests and staff (if desired) The food and wine menus are well balanced and the food is both comforting and surprising, all prepared with great attention to details. All in all the balance is perfection."

"We both had the trout, the seasoning gs totally overpowerd the trout! You could not taste the fish at all. We ordered the trout, a salad and fried o.ives all at once, if the waiter would have told us the side was greens, we would have ordered a different salad, not a green salad!"

"We drive from Northern Utah 10 hours to get to Taos and never miss eating at El Meze. The food is fresh and innovative. We've never had a dish we didn't like."

"The highlight of our meal was an herb marinated grilled trout. The flavor was sublime, the preparation nothing short of perfect. Our server was solicitous, professional, and genuinely helpful. Despite a little too much personal biography from him, we enjoyed our meal thoroughly."

"Excellent fresh food. The unique southwest menu and tasting was delicious. The appetizer with bacon and cilantro sauce was to die for. Trout was the best ever. And their signature dessert lemon meringue Napoleon was awesome."

"Our waitress was knowledgeable regarding the wine and the menu, guiding us through our dinner. El Meze was charming, delicious, and a great find on our visit to Taos."

"Not to be missed if you're anywhere in the vicinity of Taos. Fresh, delicate, flavorful food fit for food enthusiasts in a classy yet laid back setting with great service. Short and seasonal menu paired with a great selection of reasonably priced wines. It fits in perfectly with the ambience of Taos. Smoked trout is a must try. And so are the lamb chops. The chef is a genius with mint so anything with it is highly recommended. Espresso creme brûlée and the semi fredo are fabulous. Highly recommended!"

"Was initially concerned about the somewhat limitd menu, but the food was delicious, the service was wonderful. If the menu was more extensive, I would have govin it 5 stars. I am a slightly picky eater, but my husbsnd eats anything- he was thrilled."

"We had an enjoyable evening at El Meze. Food was good, I feel I would need to experience other dishes before making a definitive judgment. Staff was polite and engaging but not overbearing. Even though the restaurant had several tables filled I felt we were in a pretty private space most of the evening."

"One of our favorite restaurants in Taos, and for good reason. It's a beautiful setting, and very intimate space. Very much like dining in someone's home. Warm, comfortable and great food. Due to small size, reservations are recommended, even during weekdays."

"A wonderful restaurant where the owner/chef(?) know what they wish to accomplish and do so splendidly. The menu (and wine list) are concentrated on a limited number of choices, exquisitely selected and expertly prepared. Service could not have been more considerate and friendly. Our duck confit, served over collard greens may sound somewhat unusual but it was a sensation. This was a highlight dining experience and we would eagerly dine there again when next in Taos."

"Things got off to a bad start when, despite a reservation, we were greeted by a less-than-cordial person who proceeded to show us to the worst table in the house. Small, barely a two-top, in a corner, and underneath a loudspeaker. Upon complaining we were offered the second-worst table, which we declined, and then were seated at a nice table. With this over with the dinner was good and the service same. I think that the strength of the menu is the small plates. We tried the bison adovada and were impressed with the excellent sauce with lots of flavor and just enough heat. The rib eye steak on the menu was perfectly done and my spouse enjoyed the trout. Shame things had to start badly."

"El Meze never disappoints! Absolutely one of the top two restaurants in TAOS. Fred and Annette do absolutely flavorful combinations and really provide one of the most unique foodie experiences found in New Mexico. The wine list is extensive and they do an outstanding job of making sure the wine pairs with the food you are enjoying! m2"

"We enjoyed our experience & would recommend it, however will probably not return. The food was a little overpriced for what it was. The food was just not what I was expecting."
