Reminiscent of traditionally-styled Pacific Northwest seafood eateries, McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurant in Kansas City offers a traditional dining experience in an unpretentious atmosphere. Conveniently located at Valencia Place on the Country Club Plaza, McCormick & Schmick's is just south of Westport and Downtown. Our menus are printed twice daily and offer over 30 varieties of fresh seafood flown in each day from U.S. and International waters. Oyster enthusiasts enjoy our beautiful oyster bar with seven to ten varieties shucked to order in plain view. Bartenders create hand-shaken cocktails made with fresh-squeezed juices in our beautiful, glass-domed bar where we also offer an extensive list of premium wines and beers. Join us for our famous Happy Hour (4-6PM) featuring a $1.95 food menu. Delight in our signature dessert: A dark Chocolate Bag filled with white chocolate mousse, fresh mixed berries, drizzled with raspberry puree and topped with freshly whipped cream.

"My wife and I both took off from work for a day in the city. This was our spot for lunch. Steve, our waiter, was wonderful and has been with M & S for 13 years. It's a small world because we had been in some of the other locations that he had worked in.
The food portions, preparation, and speed of delivery were spot on. The corvina special took me back to my time in Panama during the turnover back in late '99. The fish was just divine. The wife's shrimp were perfect. When the dessert bag came out -- that was all she wrote!! Massive dessert with a lovely blend of flavors and textures...
I've eaten here when it is busy and loud -- that environment is not to my liking. Do yourself a favor and come when it is quieter."

"Very disappointed with our service this go around. My wife and I have frequented this establishment many of times and never have I been so disappointed. We were here for 4 different celebrations. Our table was too small to accommodate us all comfortably, then drinks were ordered and mixed up and forgotten, then the (man paying/birthday boy) food was forgotten, to fish being tough, to drinks that were missed still added to bill. Food was brought out before salad plates were removed, way to much time in between courses. The service we received was poor, and we were made to feel foolish in front of our family for the way our evening turned out with the decision being ours for dinner."

"Our reservation was honored timely with seating in exact location we desired. The waitress seemed a bit inexperienced; however, the service was prompt, courteous, and helpful. The drinks and food were served almost too quickly with litte time to enjoy the atmosphere and pre-dinner conversation. Food quality and taste were consistent with past experience which has been excellent. This is a favorite location for us and one we visit frequently A nice touch would have been something special for a birthday which the restaurant knew about ahead of time and at our arrival. Many locations provide a birthday desert or treat. We also have a M&S dining card which indicates a birthday treat which did not occur."

"This was a great find for Mother's Day. I could see it being good for any number of special occassions, especially when the weather is nice and the patio is open. We spent over $100 on just the two of us but had a coupon for a free chocolate bag, which saved a bit. The food, service, and ambience were awesome! If the price were more reasonable, this could become a hot spot for us, but as it is, it's good for a special occassion here or there."

"Our party of four ordered different desserts. The key lime pie was so tart it was almost inedible. The piece was more than generous with whipped cream and a raspberry sauce. The sweetened whipped cream did not help the tartness of the pie. I had ordered the warm apple pie before and loved it. This time, I was very disappointed. It did not taste fresh. The crust tasted burnt. There were large "chunks" of brown sugar that were hard to bit and did not enhance the taste of the pie. In the past, the desserts have been very good. With the outstanding service, great appetizers and delicious main course, having the end of our meal be of poor quality was a disappointment and a "downer" for the evening. However, we will come back."

"The restaurant is very nice. When I first walked in there were four people who greeted me in a most welcoming fashion. I really liked the restaurant. I could not eat the green beans, however, because they were just about raw, not even steamed, but if steamed, very little. Other than that, I really enjoyed my dining experience and will come back again."

"This was our second time coming here. Both times have been very nice. Our waiter was very friendly and polite. The only complaint I have about the restaurant. They really like to push add-ons to your order. To the point where its a bit annoying. The food is very good. I had the cashew crusted tilapia and my wife had the scallops, both dishes looked and tasted great. My wife totally enjoyed hers. I'm not a big fan of fresh green beans and I didn't see then on the menu with my dish otherwise I would have ordered a different item instead. But I might have just overlooked them. All and all the food is great. The restaurant is very clean, and the staff are very nice. Just be ready for them to try to push you to a lot of add-ons. Enjoy!"

"We have done brunch several times but this was the first time we walked away not entirely happy. We started with the French toast which clearly stated on the menu that it came with nuts. When it came out without them I questioned the waiter and he said they were updating the menu and would bring them out on the side. The toast was also on the burnt side. I ordered the eggs Benedict which were wonderful but the menu said it came with asparagus and they were also missing. At this point I did not bother pointing it out to the waiter because be was clearly more into the bartender then the customers. We will probably be back again but if I end up with that server again I will not have a problem with requesting someone else."

"My fiancé took me there for my birthday. I'd never been there before and sure do love seafood so he knew this would be the perfect place. I loved every little thing about this beautiful place! The staff was so friendly and helpful. We ordered quite a bit of food just for the 2 of us and we killed it all (minus the chocolate bag dessert which we had to take home). Seriously, we ordered clam chowder, a dozen oysters, spring rolls, king crab, stuffed salmon, AND the chocolate bag.. ALL DELICIOUS!! I will make it a point to come back. I have my eye on the scallop dish."

"Food was good but our wait was long, even though we had a reservation. We had children with us and the entrees took forever. Server was OK but not very knowledgeable about the menu options. It was prom night so this may have been some reasons why our dinner was delayed but when you make a reservation, you expect to be seated within at least 15 minutes."

"Hadn't been to an M & S for a few years (last time was in Scottsdale), and have to be honest... we were a little disappointed. The service was excellent and the food was good, but it wasn't GREAT. And lets face it... for the price... it should be GREAT !
We'll come back, but I would say without hesitation that the better seafood - at better prices - is The Bristol. Two in our party had overcooked salmon, and the lobster bisque was just so-so."

"I took my fiance here for dinner after proposing to her just an hour before. We had an incredible experience! The service was outstanding... our waiter, Clint, was very friendly and helpful. He made sure to check in on us and take care of us, but never felt intrusive at all. And the manager selected a perfect port for us to drink along with the chocolate dessert we had.
The food was also excellent. Perfectly prepared, fresh, and delicious! The atmosphere was perfect for a nice, romantic evening together. The lighting was comfortable, and not too dark, but not bright at all.
I was extremely impressed and happy with the entire experience that we had here!!!"

"They still have great food but keeps going down in size. They would not honor a $25 gift card I had attached to my M$S card, saying I did not register the card. But then I get an email from them saying thank you for visiting.he half price drink promotion for the week only applies to the bar. They did not say that it does not apply to the restaurant side though. The place is getting cheep and lacking in customer care."

"Haven't been to McCormick & Schmicks for over 2 years. We have been to Mc & Schmicks all over the US; it used to be our "go to" restaurant whenever we traveled. Boy has the quality of the food gone down hill-so very sad. 4 of us dined: 1 steak w/asparagus, 1 salmon, 2 talapia w/coucous & green beans. The steak was ordered Med Rare, came to the table super rare w/asparagus the size of giant, thick stocks, woody & w/o seasoning or flavor. The salmon, was Atlantic w/o flavor. The talapia, itself was good, however the green beans were barely blanched and difficult to cut even w/a knife. We won't be going back in the near future. Totally dissappointed."

"We made a reservation for 7:15 on a Sat evening. We arrived 5 min early, ans checked in with the host and hostess. Neither greeted us with a friendly hello or smile...we were told it would be 5-10 min before we could be seated. No prob. With no seating in bar, we stood...after waiting 25 min past reservation time, we went to inquire about our table. The host/hostess were very "matter of fact" in demeanor. Approx 5-10 later we were seated.Why make a reservation at all??? Our food was sub-par. We started with the Caesar salad. The lettuce was tired and brown around edges. Very unappetizing. I ordered the Salmon. For the price, I thought the portion would be a bit larger. 3 Asparagus spears??? Why come back when we have Bonefish!"
