"They gave us a enclosed booth so the conversation was good and easy to hear. The fish, wonderful and service quick. The glass wine list short but priced right. There is a beautiful glass window that is a skyline of Chicago that adds to the beauty and must see."

"The service (not the server) was very slow. Whether getting a glass of wine or a food item, it seemed to take forever to arrive on our table. So, if time is irrelevant, this is a fine restaurant. But, if waiting 10-15 for a drink is a problem, dine elsewhere."

"Seated at table by door with plenty of empty tables. Waitress was rude and "unattentive." Didn't bring bread, until asked. Forgot my wife ordered soup, etc. Drop off check without saying anything or looking me in the eyes. She knew she was bad. it's a shame because we eat here often and it's as if our business isn't appreciated.

"While the Ambience was good the service was extremely slow. The server was not very friendly and took quite a while to serve drinks, the meal and the dessert. The food came out warm but not hot and I could not finish my entree before it became too cold to eat. A simple dinner that should have taken an hour or less took over an hour and a half. With the other options locally we will never go back or recommend this restaurant."

"This restaurant is high end. My husband and I both ordered seafood, salmon and tilapia. The seafood war served at the correct temperature, but both the mashed potatoes and green beans were at room temperature. When we complained to the server, she brought new sides that she guarantee d would be hot. The were also at room temperature. We called over the manager to complain. My husband ordered coffee with dessert and the 2nd cup was cold. This restaurant needs to pay more attention to the details. I'm not sure that we will return. The manager gave us a free dessert for out trouble, but my husband'd dinner was ruined all the same"

"Once we got past the maître d' who did not notice our seating preference on our Open Table (OT) reservation (he even trashed OT as having major flaws leading to this oversight) and the bar which actually ran out of sweet vermouth by 6pm, the food saved the day. A dutiful waiter served us a wonderful 'sizzling' salmon and a crab legs with medallions of beef special and our mood improved. The next day we found out that the same maître d' did not let Open Table know we even showed up for our reservation leading to a nasty gram from OT asking us why? There was no excuse for the initial behavior but the food will bring us back someday. We are now again on good terms with OT if not the restaurant maître d'."

"I made my reservation well in advance of our visit since we had a party of 14 and my entire family was coming in from out of town. The day before I was called to confirm the reservation which I appreciated. I informed them that our number was down to 13 so they had all the information they needed. However when we all arrived the next evening at the appointed hour they did not have our table ready. After much discussion amongst the staff and then setting up our dining area essentially from scratch we were finally able to sit after some 15 minutes or more. I should mention that we had four small children in our party who had spent most of the day traveling and whose stomachs were on eastern time. After all that the food was only average."

"It's been a while since we visited this location. After undergoing a recent remodel, the restaurant is once again fresh and vibrant. The designer has mixed in contemporary finishes with traditional Chicago (ala Frank Lloyd Wright) with the use of stained glass and warm colors. The use of glass vases to create several color pops offers a nice compliment to the overall design. On a nice day, the huge patio would be wonderful to enjoy (the evening we visited, it was too cold). Our server was wonderful and very knowledgeable about the menu. Seafood was fresh. Our only suggestion, is improving outside signage and visibility as it would be easy to not notice the restaurant from the street (either when walking or driving). Go & enjoy!"

"Sunday evening not busy. Service a tad slow. Had to look around a lot for simple thing like a water refill. Although many staff around, ours was very present. Food was very good. One disappointing thing was as follows. One of our entrees was the wrong price on the bill. It was only two dollars however between finding our waitperson and then a long time for him to reconcile the bill, it became an annoying thing. I also thought that a visit from the manager would have been appropriate to apologize and probably comp out dessert or something. Someone else may have really complained and we uncovered a mistake between menu and computer that could be embarrassing. Good policy to reassure your customers. Send a manager."

"The food was great and the draped tables along the wall were perfect for my romantic evening out. We had tickets for a show at the Chicago Theater which is just around the corner, and this place worked out perfectly, complete with inexpensive valet so we didn't have to move the car, pay for parking twice or take a cab.
Can't wait until my next visit."

"We had a reservation for 9 people at 7:30 and didn't get seated until almost 8:00. The restaurant was not crowded and our table was ready . . . don't know why we had to stand there waiting.
Also, at least 3 people from our group complained about how awful the food was. One co-worker said they get Sea Bass as often as they can and this was "the worst they've ever tasted"."

"From the moment we arrived, the service was subpar. it took over 35 mins to get a drink while we waited for our table at the bar. our waiter said he'd bring us some bread but we had to remind him 5-10mins later that he never did. he took our orders and brought our food rather promptly but oddly the food arrived cold. food lacked flavor that was anything special. I've been to several other McCormick and Schmick's and this one was definitely not up to their standards. Our waiter did not return even once to ask how our meal was or if he could get us anything else. Advice for the management, put a little more emphasis on interpersonal skills and costumer satisfaction into hiring your staff."

"After reading the not so stellar reviews, I was pleasantly surprised at the service, the atmosphere and the food. They have a most engaging host - he was pleasant and accommodating. Our server was quick and thoughtful and provided excellent service. The portion sizes were very good. It was pricey but it felt like a high quality restaurant experience."

"Our server was Joe and he was awesome! We ordered some drinks from the bar- which tasted awful- and Joe took them off the bill without us even asking. The shrimp kisses were AMAZING! as well as the blackened Mahi- dessert was delicious! Apple pie with cinnamon ice cream and creme brulee! Love love love this place!"

"With reservations we were seated 30 minutes late. Then some of our appetizers did not arrive because the kitchen ran out of food. Our entrees took 2 hours to get to the table. Many of us had steaks as part of our meal. They came back three times because the cut we ordered was no longer available. Then when I received my meal it was overcooked. I couldn't send it bak because there were no more to replace it."

"Service was a bit slow. When we sat down the restaurant was half full, but we still didn't receive our drinks until the appetizers showed up. Throughout the remainder of the dinner I only managed to order one more drink. Food was excellent, although portions seemed a bit light for the price. Atmosphere was very nice and staff was very friendly. This was our second time there, and although the experience wasn't as great as the first time, I'm sure we'll be back."

"Tried McCormick and Schmick's on the recommendation of a concierge on a recent trip to Chicago. Staff was very pleasant and attentive from the time we walked in the door. Service was on par for a fine dining restaurant. The decor of the restaurant, including the stained glass Chicago skyline added to the experience. Menu was fairly extensive with a large selection of seafood and a decent wine list. Appetizers were tasty and well presented (oysters and crab cake). Entree service was additionally well timed and well presented. Highly recommend the pretzel encrusted walleye which was a fresh fillet cooked to perfection. Will definitely attend again when in Chicago."

"This was my first time visiting McCormick & Schmick and I will definitely visit again SOON! The location is easy to get to, the valet is reasonable, the service was outstanding! Our waitress was Alicia and she was superb!!! She came often to see if we needed anything but without been overwhelming. I would love to have her wait on us on our next visit. And the food...all the food we ordered was areally good. I h ighly recommend the cocunut shrimp as an appetizer--it was delicious! And of course the calamari is always a great choice. I am planning to take my daughter for her birthday in July and experience the outside dining. But will visit sooner for sure!"
