Rumbo al Sur celebrates the flavors of Mexico and Latin America using fresh, seasonal ingredients. In addition to variety of large and small plates, Rumbo al Sur offers hand crafted cocktails using fresh juices, house made syrups and a variety of unique tequilas, piscos and cachacas.
"This restaurant opened with great food - took a downhill turn for awhile and now is back to being as good as it was in the beginning. Small plates to share packed with fabulous flavor combinations - really fun and dleic!"

"Fit for Foodies who want to stay FIT! We were told that sharing is suggested ; we were four people and so we ordered 5 dinner dishes. We had just a taste of everything; like maybe a dice size piece of yellow-tail each! So, either don't come real hungry or be prepared to spend a lot of money! $9.00 desserts is sort of high but we got by with just 2 for the four of us.
Also, I think we would have enjoyed the ambiance in the main room with the windows more than the back room we were taken to. I did make a reservation several days in advance BTW. It was very quiet where we sat because there was no one else in that corner of the restaurant."

"Food was very good. Mexican dishes prepared with more interesting ingredients and flair. Food came out hot and quickly -- more quickly than our drinks which we ordered first. Waitress seemed to forget about us for a time, and the last dish we ordered was delivered only after we asked for it. Still a nice spot in Glenview's restaurant row on Park Blvd. Good deals during the week and fair prices on margarita pitchers."

"The atmosphere is great, the service is good, the drinks are tasty and creative. Glenview has become a real happening neighborhood. That being said I think the food is overpriced by about 50%. It is somewhat better than "regular" Mexican food, but not enough to warrant the tiny size of the food in relationship to the very high price of it."

"Nice addition to the Glenview area. I have not been for Happy Hour but understand that it is good. We shared several dishes and they were all execellent. Service is "OK". It was not very busy so the waiter was not around much (probably in the back talking). Otherwise I really enjoyed the restaurant."

"Best drinks . Love the margaritas. My husband and I are local. We eat here a lot and we love it. I recommend taco Tuesdays. But all the food was wonderful any time I've been there. When you guys first opened I had heard the service wasn't so great and the food was just ok but I think that is long past. Drinks outstanding. Food excellent. Service great."

"Our meal at Rumbo was a little bit hit-or-miss. The margaritas (by the pitcher or glass) were excellent--strong and tart, the way they should be. We tried the crispy chicken (good), the scallops (amazing) with black-eyed pea fritters (so-so), the duck tamales (meat was stringy and a little tough), the guacamole (yum), and the beef empanadas (good). The margarita pie was the best part of the meal, a little like a key lime pie but with pretzel crust--great combination!"

"My second time at Rumba and I was pleased again. There was a group of 6 nearby and they were really noisy, so, at times it was hard to talk, but before and after their noisiness, it was fine."

"Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Good assortment of Latin American beverages. Nice variety of dishes, but I've had better tasting food at other Latin American restaurants. Go after 7:30 if you aren't used to so many children or eat at the bar.The music and loud children (Tuesday evening) made it difficult to converse at a normal volume."

"Small plates of fine South American food with a modern twist served in low lit rooms with warm earth tones. Cocktails were tasty, esp very fresh sangrita that accompanied the mezcal in El Gran Combo (which did not need the provided beer chaser, btw, it was so nice). Native Argentinian in our group was impressed with flavors and commented on nouveau presentation of classic dishes like Lomo Saltado. Bar was pleasantly humming at 7:30 but hushed by 9 which is good in Glenview neighborhood spot. Good for our business dinner, but would easily work for date night. We'll definitely be back."

"Wonderful caipirinhas. Excellent guacamole although the chips could've been fresher. Ribs were fantastic and so were the mussels. We'll go back, although only on week night. Even on a Thursday, it was difficult to hear because it was packed."

"If you like Tapas, this is a must try. The staff was "on the ball". We were greeted and seated quickly. Drinks came out in no time. Next thing you know, we were already working on our first 2 plates. I can't wait to return. There are still, so many plates I would love to try."

"The food was wonderful and the service was personal and attentive. There seemed to be an issue in the kitchen; the food did not arrive at the same time so the 3 of us ending up eating somewhat separately."

"we have never stopped loving A Cote, so when that team opened Rumbo, we had to try it. Same quality but different style food, shorter wine list but some awesome cocktails..great service, nice location (parking can be tricky..) and we wish them well here...would be good place for a group night out."

"The last two times before this the food and service were excellent. This time was on Sunday, and the service was mediocre, we hardly saw our waitress and the food was just okay -- steak was a little tough and hard to eat. Still love this restaurant. The menu is changed and updated and it's a work in progress. Great addition to the neighborhood."

"First time here with a group and it was amazing! We started with happy hour margaritas at the bar and the bartenders really made us feel at home. The hostess was incredibly flexible with the timing of our table, and the table service was impeccable.
Very impressed."

"Unfortunately the happy hour schedule changed the week before we went so they no longer had happy hour drinks and food on Saturdays. We like to dine early and really enjoyed that. Food and drink are still good and worth the reasonable prices. It was a bit noisy. It's still one of our local favorites."

"Service is everything to me! Our waitress Rachel was a gem in this quaint neighborhood restaurant . Been at Rumba Al Sur three times and service is always first on the plate! The food was just as equally delectable as their sister restaurant, A Cote which is saying a lot , since A Cote is also my go to restaurant. Now my go to will be Rumba!"
