Luke's, A Steak Place was established in 1992. The varied menu includes fresh fish flown in every day, and incredible succlent steaks ranging from filets, bone-in filets and porterhouse, as well as large platters of seafood pasta, juicy pork tenderloin, pork chops and thick lamb chops. A surf-and-turf combination is also available with steak of your choice and lobster.

"The crowd here is much older. The food is overcooked and extremely salty. We've eaten here twice and had the same experience both times. The wait staff is friendly and accommodating and the food is pricey, but make no mistake this is not a place to go to if you are a foodie. Head downtown or to Boulder instead."

"Even after reading other reviews, we decided to go to Luke's. We were easily able to get a reservation for 6:30 on a Saturday evening.
The calamari appetizer was so-so. Both salads were swimming in parmesan cheese. We both ordered steaks with different sides - mine with sauted spinach and a baked potato. I will swear that spinach NEVER saw the inside of a pan - it was tossed with some garlic pieces and just waved over the pan. Hence the spinach leaves were not in anyway wilted let alone sauted, and barely warm. My boyfriend's pan fried potatoes were WAY overcooked - not burnt but HARD- not crunchy. The steaks were okay - I could grill the same quality. The wait staff was not terrible but sort of smarmy...
Bottom line, we won't be back."

"We sat at 7 pm. Our entrees were not served until 9:15 pm.
Our waiter abandoned us for over an hour. We had to hail a passing busser to get anyone to check on our order.
Apparently there was a 24-top birthday party in the private room that required all of the wait staff to schlep alcoholic beverages rather than serve their assigned guests.
Those of us who ordered beef medium rare got medium well shoe leather, and no one bothered to asked whether the meals were properly prepared.
We have been loyal customers for years, but we will not be back to Luke's."

"Great steak place without all the hassle of parking and paying downtown prices. This place is an absolute gem and we go there over any steak place in Denver any day! We love it. If you are looking for great steak, delicious crab crab cakes, friendly service and want to support a family owned endeavor, go to Luke's. We have been to a lot of pricey, fancy steak places in a lot of cities and Luke's sets the bar and is worth every penny."

"This restaurant was above expectations. I have always wanted to try Luke's but my partner was reluctant. I finally convinced her to give it a try. We were both very happy with our experience. "Just a nice restaurant, hidden in the corner of a shopping center. First experience was 5280 week, where we were very impressed (party of 6). The steaks are great! Prices are at the low end of the expensive steak houses but their quality is just as good. I highly recommend Luke's for an excellent meal."

"We were seated at 7:45 pm for a 7:00 pm reservation. Our waitress, Janet, was very rude and argumentive when we asked if we could substitute a soft drink instead of the included wine as none of us drink alcohol. She told us "we are doing you a favor giving you wine with dinner as other restaurants don't include it". I explained that we don't drink alcohol & would rather have an iced tea or other non-alcoholic beverage but she kept insisting that only wine was included. We decided to order wine to get her to put in our order. When the food came out, we asked about the wine for which she replied: "I'm not going to serve you wine since you're going to waste it". I have never been treated with such rudeness. My steak was dry and burnt. Awful!"

"Would have been nice to know that there was a new owner and that they changed the menu. The salad had little or no dressing and you had to cut your pieces to size to eat.
(full size carrots,onion,celery in it) Main course was cold taste less. Dessert was a cheese cake which the crust was burnt and the middle coagulated no one ate this either. Over all it was such a disappointment and would not recommend."

"I have been wanting to try Luke's for a long time but was disappointed with the food. I ordered the Pawns for the price tag of $26. The meal looked pretty good except for the 4 small shrimp on the plate. That is about $6.50 a shrimp. Wow...talk about a mark up. I was given 4 more after I complained and the service was very good,but didn't leave me wanting to go back anytime soon. It was a let down."

"I have eaten at Luke's for years and was NEVER disappointed until now. We had 8 people at our table. Six people ordered steak from medium rare to medium temp and all of them were burned on the outside and not the correct temperature on the inside. Two people ordered seafood and were fine with the preparation, but didn't like the price for the portion. We told our waiter about the burning of the steak and he said he would let the chef know. We never saw the waiter again until it was time to bring the bill with the mandatory 20% tip added-what a joke! The chef never came out, the bill wasn't adjusted for the poor cooking and we left unhappy. The quality of the meat has also gone down with the new owner."

"We dined off the 5280 menu. Everything was wonderful except for the port tenderloin. The flavor was delicious but the meat was tough. When we mentioned that to the waiter we got oh, so sorry. Expect a little more from an establishment like this one. Otherwise, the steaks were cooked to perfection, the wine wonderful and the desserts superb. Would definately return."

"The filet was wonderful, but the sides were laughably small. I am beginning to think that 5280 week is a way for restaurants to give much smaller portions for a price. "Unpretentious spot for a great steak dinner. Decided to try Luke's out as part of the 5280 week with another couple, and had a great evening. Our waiter was attentive and had a great sense of humor, the ambiance was nice (particularly considering it's located in a strip mall), and the food was all good. Two of us had the 8 oz sirloin special, and both were cooked to perfection and extremely tasty--they also seemed quite sizable for an 8 oz steak (actually had leftovers). The bleu cheese potatoes were interesting (two of us liked them, one did not), though the portion there was a bit small. My wife had the steak kabobs and said they were perfect. Service was a bit slow but we were in no hurry, so that was fine."

"My husband and I were both looking forward to a wonderful dinner on a quiet Monday night. We were sadly dissapointed.
The restaurant was not busy. We were seated immediantly. It was 25 minutes before our server came to the table. Another 10 minutes went by before the menus came. We both ordered the house salad, filet cooked medium rare, blue cheese scalloped potatoe and grilled asparagus. The salad had celery, carrots and green onions cut in 6inch lengths. A little weird but the salad was good. Both steaks arrived, very crispy on the outside, cooked to medium well. The scalloped potatoes were good but only 1/4 cup! Asaparagus was crispy, over cooked. Food was fair at best, as was the service. We won't be coming back"

We loved the salad it was served family style and it was plenty for all. The bread kept coming. The steaks came with scalloped potatoes they were ok, the same for asparagus. There were two choices for desert srawberry cheese cake and bread pudding, both good. Wine came with the meal and I was the only one who had any and I also had the wife's. All the main courses came out hot. The service was excellent. We were there 2.5 hours and never felt rushed. We've found a new place for special occasions. Can't wait."

"I had a wonderful drink at the bar while waiting for a table (had reservations, but Luke's was very busy)...didn't have to wait too long and we were shown to a table. We sat for quite awhile, our server approached us and said "do you know what you want yet"?
We had not been approached by anyone prior to this and asked our server for water. She shortly returned to take our order, still no water. The bartender brought my glass of wine. We asked three times for water. we asked twice for bread.
The steak was magnificent, the side dishes were burnt asparagus and dried scalloped potatoes. We did not complain, Lukes was super busy, as is anyone during restaurant week. We will probably go back only for a cocktail."

"We participated in the 5280 Restaurant Week menu and the selection was awesome. Best deal is that a glass of wine was included with the meal. The steaks were cooked to perfection. "We had a group of six, reservation was on Thursday at 6:30.It took our waitress about 45 minutes to take our actual order for the entrees and another 1 hour before we received them. We didn't leave the restaurant until 9:00. The waitress was friendly but the service was way too slow. The party all ordered steaks and they were all under cooked. I would think for being a steak house you would know how to cook a steak properly. Then there was dessert, I had the white chocolate bread putting (which was good) my husband had the cheese cake(way too much sour cream) it was the worst cheese cake I have ever tasted. I don't think I will ever go back!"

Took advantage of the Denver Restaurant Week deal and had a very good, complete meal at a very reasonable price. "The food is always consistantly great. Sevrvice was excellent. It is a small nieghbor hood restraunt in a strip mall so your not going to have the views. It's casual but that is what we like as I hate dressing up to go out. The only downer: Some diner seated near us reeked of perfume. Fortunately, we got to taste most of our food before they were seated. I think anyone dining out at a nice restaurant should have more common sense - taste depends so much on smell - is it ignorance or are they just inconsiderate? Don't know what restaurants can do about people like that. We just hope we'll have better luck when we return. "Unfortunately, the night started out bad and it could not be salvaged. We arrived early for our 730 reservation, the restaurant was jam packed. The hostess told us we'd be seated soon. One hour and 15 minutes later we were seated, 15 minutes later our waitress took our wine order (and never even asked about other drinks). 10 minutes later we ordered. It took another 30-45 minutes and our food arrived.
Food was good, but quite honestly for the price, it would be better to go to another Steak house.
We won't be back, next time we'll go to Prime Steakhouse downtown where they honor reservations and the service is on par with the price on the menu."
