"Great job on Gluten free choices for Celiac sufferers. Avoid ordering two gluten shark fin deserts even if the server allows it. Excellent servers makes this Mitchell's very comfortable. This is our favorite fine dining place.."

"One of our Rochester favorites. Excellent seafood and a nice presentation. Bar is also great for cocktails and appetizers.
Could improve: server knowledge of seafood types/preparation. Some of the little things, like putting table cloths on tables - just a personal preference."

"We normally go to Mitchell's for dinner for occasions and do lunch while at that end of town. It was a little noisier than usual, perhaps due to the many kids eating with their moms and grandmothers. We didn't mind. My wife had tilapia which she says is the best in our area. I had crab cakes, done perfectly (I like a little brown crust). I washed it down with a Guinness. We split a piece (huge slab) of seven layer carrot cake at the restaurant. We ate more of the cake last night at home with some left over! Delicious."

"Great food and great ambience. It was crowded as expected for Mothers Day, but hardly chaotic. Waitstaff was catering and was not "harried". That says alot for good service. I highly recommend the spinach salad - best I've ever had. A rose given to each mom dining was also a lovely touch of great service. We enjoyed shopping afterward, as the restaurant was chosen because of its location in the lovely village of Rochester stores."

"The food was amazing but the wait for our main entree was extremely long. We didn't have to wait for a table and the waiter came over immediately and recommended excellent food choices. We received our drinks and appetizer very quickly and then our salads came out. Please keep in mind the lobster bisque has a very strong tomato base rather than a cream base. The issue was it was an hour after the salads were served that the entree came. The waiter and manager did come over to apologize for the wait and said something would be taken off the bill but when we looked at our bill they had not taken anything off or gave us a discount for waiting so long. The food was excellent so if you don't mind waiting a while to eat this is the place for you."

"I'm almost a regular here and there is a reason why: consistently good food and service! It was my guests first visit and she loved everything! I prefer lunching or dining in the lounge/bar as the room is cozy and free of families with children or large groups. The special cocktails are very good but way too sweet; ask for them to use half as much sweetener. Raw oysters were perfect. Seared ahi tuna app was perfect. Calamari app is enormous- enough for four people and too much for two to share. Desserts are just okay. Our bartender/server was excellent. No complaints here!"

"My girlfriend and I were celibrating our aniversary, everything was great. The server was open and helpful and knew the menu very well (a must have for fine dining). Only set-backs were we asked was for quiet table for two, BUT we did not know the layout and energy of the resturant, so it was not an issue. And not sure if bisque is suppose to be warm or hot...thought it could have been hotter.
Hope to visit again this summer and bring family and friends! Great food and SERVICE, hope I tipped well...different in Canada."

"We have gone to Mitchel's many times, and like it very much. Our food was good. as usual, but our service was a little off this time. Our waitress either was a bit slow, or over extended in the amount of tables that she had to take care of. She was pleasant, and professional, but we asked for bread three times during a 15 minute span. Other people who had come in later than our party had bread way before we did. On or third request, we flagged down a floor manager to get us bread.
We will go back, and consider this to be more of on an anomaly, and suspect she had too many tables to cover that night."

"Food was fair at best. I had the trio, scallops, tilapia and substituted the salmon with the cod. The scallops were not seared at all. The tilapia was blackened and it was okay, nothing great. The Cod had little to no flavor to it. THe side was beans and rice. The portion size was VERY small and pretty much all the food was luke warm. We were there on a Friday night and it was not that busy and now we know why. Highly doubt I would ever go to mitchell's again. We go to Kruse and Meur quite often and they are much better overall.
I will say that our server was very good, the food was bad."

"Mitchell's Fish Market has better fish than pricier places. I think it has the highest quality fish in our county and the prices are very reasonable. I started with a very delicious salad, but my friends enjoyed their soups, too. The salad had figs and pine nuts on it, and although I usually don't like vinegar-based dressings, the dressing in this case was tasty and mild. The salmon is to die for. The key lime pie with macadamia nuts is also one of my favorite deserts. I have been there several times and wish to go back very soon. Weekdays are quiet, and Friday nights are busy and noisy. It does not look a kid-friendly place, but we have brought kids there on weeknights and everyone was hospitable to them."

"We have eaten at the Mitchells on Haggerty in Livonia many times without any problems and love it but our experience at this Mitchells was extremely disappointing. It started when we asked if we could be moved to another table because we saw others available and we were told no because you had to request those, the overall food service was slow and the food was average at best (had lobster penne and the sauce was not good). We love Mitchells and their seafood and will continue to go to the restaurant in Livonia but will most likely not ever go back to the Rochester one."

"We have been to this location many times and have always experienced friendly service (always give my husband any booth he wants), friendly unrushed service, and excellent food. When we have had an issue with a food item they have fixed it immediately, no questions asked. Seafood is always fresh. My son's favorite is the steak and lobster tail combination. Not that I usually rave about mashed potatoes, but theirs is the best. Great flavor that is lacking at other restaurants. If you are lucky enough to sit in Aaron's section - he is outstanding."

"Our food was delicious but I was annoyed because our table wasn't ready when we arrived--on time--for our reservation. It was a Friday night and the place was full, yes, but I expect there to be a table ready if I've made a reservation.
Our waitress was terrible--she was always really long in between visits to our table, forgot drinks, and, when we were waiting to have her bring us the check, we could see her by the bar chatting up another waitress for a full five minutes. Again, with a packed restaraunt, I would expect the servers to pay more attention, not less. Overall, I was extremely dissatisfied with the experience."

"We had our valentine's dinner. Traffic was so bad we had to call and bump our reservation back by 30 minutes. They were still able to seat us on time and gave me wife a red rose. The food was good, not excellent. But the excellent service made the dinner really enjoyable."

"Saturday evening dinner - table was ready at time of reservation. They walked us through the restaurant to a back area. Back area had an African American family on one side and a Latino family on the other and two tables in the middle. We got one of those tables. It was very ackwardly placed and as the wait staff would go past they kept hitting our table. I ended up physically moving the table myself. After the Latino family left, another African American family were seated in the back room too.
Being a Latina and dining with an African American / Latina we found it disturbing that when we left we toured the who restaurant and the only ethnic patrons were in that back room. I can't imagine that this was coincidence."

"The food was excellent and the daily specials offered a great variety of options. Although more noted for fish, they did a superb job on the steak which was a part of the special that I ordered. The desserts were huge and I am not sure which we enjoyed more, the Sharkfin Pie or the carrot cake(a portion of which we brought home).
