"This was our first time visiting and my husband and I had brunch at Whym with our 2 small children, ages 5 and 7. I had a delicious and nutritious brunch special, including egg whites with a black bean pancake and a nice spicy sriracha sauce - which was very tasty and unique. My husband had a steak and eggs omelet, which was excellent. My daughters found perfect items on the children's menu, as well - a mixture of healthy and tasty, all around. We will definitely be back!"

"A good place for pre-movie or pre-Lincoln Center dinner. Nice menu, with a good mix of smaller and heavier entrees. My flatbread was very good, but my friend's salad looked a little bedraggled and she didn't finish it. The guys got burgers, which were fine. Service was very friendly, if unpolished. No complaints."

"We had an excellent Mother's Day brunch here. Each of our meals was outstanding, including my giant omelet with a huge half sliced avocado on top, complete with potatoes and thick, crunchy, grainy toast. The waiter was excellent, offering my 7 year old daughter choices that were not on the menu that the chef could do "without a problem". We each loved our french toast / pancakes / omelet and couldn't get enough when we shared some bites with each other. I think our water glasses were refilled 5 or 6 times, the waiter came over about the same amount to ask how everything was. Super super super experience here. Really clean and modern design to the place. We were impressed in every way. Will be back again for sure!"

"We waited almost a half hour to be served, which was not great because we had a show to catch afterwards (which we told them). The food was very good but a little on the pricey side. (The sangria that two of us ordered was mediocre. Beer was a better choice.) The booths are too narrow; you have to sit inches from the table. The background music, like everywhere these days, is too loud. So, all in all, we thought the food was quite good but found some of the other aspects of our meal were less satisfying. Might return, might not."

"We have eaten here a couple of times and the food and service has always been great. This time, my husband had the pork chops and they were amazing. They also have a great dessert and drink list, the El Duderino is a must! We love to come after work and snag the table in the bar for prime people watching."

"Been to Whym many times and loved the food, but this time, it was subpar. It was overcooked, bland, or aesthetically unpleasing. Hope we hit an off day and this isn't standard for Whym. The special turned out to be glorified and unappetizing nachos. The pork chop was delicious, but overcooked. The turkey meatloaf came out as a gray blob in the middle of overcooked vegetables. The tuna was average.
As an appetizer, we ordered the duck sliders, mac n cheese and beet salad. All were spectacular!
Our server was not personable by any means, and he was training a new server. I would hope the new guy doesn't pick up the habits of the trainer.
It wasn't so bad I'd never go back again, but it wasn't a great dining experience by any means."

"Looking for somewhere to lunch before Lincoln Center? WHYM is the place. Its only a few short blocks away (a nice walk after a good lunch). Menu has mulitple things to choose from, good service and nice quiet atmosphere to visit with friends. The Crab Benny is an interesting twist to Eggs Benedict...with a crab cake instead of the English Muffin. Many options are noted as either vegetarian or gluten free."

"Whym has proved reliable as a go-to pre Lincoln Center performances for a few years. The restaurant is bright, airy, and modern, with lots of space between tables, allowing for normal conversation without raising voices. The menu is varied, inventive, and delicious...no miscues at all. The service was excellent. The only minor complaint is that the banquettes are worn and the floor a but scuffed....time for a little refreshening.
NB the noise level selected, above, is "energetic", as that is the only one I was able to choose on my iPad, but I would have preferred one down from that."

"Mediocre all the way around. Arrived at 6:30 for a pre-theater dinner. The best thing about the restaurant was service was quick. Special cocktail of the evening, sorry we just ran out. Special entree of the evening, we got the last two. One arrived burned and we were out of luck. Bread arrived after four requests. The water glasses were kept full though. We won't return."

"Our experience was wonderful, from the time we stepped into Whym until we walked out the door. Our server was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and helped us make up our minds. I would highly recommend the Ricotta & Artichoke wontons for an appetizer. The Fish Special(skate), Tuna Salad Entree and the Cavatelli entrees were delicious. Thetopper was the dessert....Brown Sugar Cheesecake on a "Nilla" wafer crust with a Root Beer Glaze put the sparkle on the meal. This is one place I will definitely return....after all there are things we didn't try yet!"

"The only reason I am not giving this lovely place 5 stars is because my salmon while very tasty was a little tough. I asked for it rare and I got sushi which is probably the reason.
Our waiter was so attentive and accommodating. The wine by the glass options were wonderful. I was at a table but noticed interesting people at the bar.
My sister in law has serious food reactions which make it hard for her to eat out and the waiter was compassionate and flexible and she was able to eat everything on her plate.
I just moved into the hood and I will def go back..perhaps sit at the bar and have a glass of wine and a snack...it seems like the perfect place to be with company or solo"

"Service was attentive. I especially like the mini-muffins that were delivered to our table. There is a nice selection of brunch entrees on the menu. My companion chose the pina colada pancakes and found them tasty. I decided to try the granola and was glad I did - a nice size serving with a variety of fruits and a bowl of yoghurt. It might not be everyone's idea of a treat, but for me it was just right. We will definitely return-dinner next time."

"Went last Saturday before Lincoln Center concert. Obviously they were having an off night. The staff was friendly and pleasant, but we sat for 40 minutes before getting our food, never got the soup we ordered, salad came after the rest of the meal. No one explained or apologized. We weren't impressed with the food. The mahi tacos were dry, duck sliders overly sweet, steak not very tender, pork chop also dry and bland. Sorry to write a bad review, but this was really not a good experience."

"We had a wonderful brunch before the theater. My daughter was late getting to the restaurant but they let us sit at the table and have coffee while we waited and then rushed our food so we wouldn't be late for our show. The eggs were a little too runny but the rest of the dish was delicious. The baby muffins were warm and so yummy. Our server was very friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend this restaurant especially to avoid the hustle and congestion if you are going to the Lincoln Center"

"Fine food choices for brunch. The make your own omelette is a great option as is the egg white frittata. Mimosas were spot on for brunch. Service was efficient.
I knocked off a "star" from this review for one simple reason: I noted that it was my girlfriend's birthday and while the service was seamless...I assume they would have said happy birthday or brought out a small happy birthday bite etc. to make my gf's brunch a spot above the rest. Did note it in OpenTable explicitly, no follow-up there by the staff or host/ess. Definitely a solid food choice for brunch, good service, and nice ambience, but I would not do a "special" occasion here...it's the little things that surface a great eatery from the rest."

"We went for lunch here and the food was really the star. I had the chicken and avocado sandwich (with chipotle mayo instead of the lemon mayo), and it was filled with big chunks of chicken and what seemed like almost a full avocado. It was delicious. My friend had the turkey meatloaf, which was apparently a house specialty, and she enjoyed it very much. Our waiter was very enthusiastic (almost too much so) and though attentive, he didn't have a great grasp of when to interrupt or not (we were involved in a heavy-duty conversation). But I still give four stars for his service (I am very picky about sensitivity to when to tell us about dessert, for example). Overall, a really good restaurant for lunch."

"Simply stated, this was a total disappointment. It was my first time here--I've been to eatery several times and enjoyed it, so I figured this would be great. I had a friend in town and brought him here, and was very embarrassed afterward. The quality of the food was mediocre, the portions of the dishes were very small, and did not coincide with the prices, which seemed way too high. I have no problem paying $20 for a small bowl of mac and cheese if it is phenomenal...but this was flavorless. Also, the decor really leaves something to be desired, especially on the side without the bar. The floor is all white and banged up, the tables are all white and have many scratches and dents and just look old. Overall, I was really hoping for more."

"We arrived at 10:45AM for Saturday brunch and the restaurant was relatively quiet. Within a half-hour, it became extremely busy. Nevertheless, the service was excellent and the food was very good. Highly recommend the poached eggs over Whym's homemade hash. Prices are reasonable for NYC. Portion sizes adequate to large. Good place to choose among the many restaurants on 9th Avenue!"
