"For the quality of food the prices are very reasonable. A bit cheaper than Gramercy Tavern but I thought the food is comparable. The wine list is like a bible so great place for wine lovers (though the wines are not cheap). The decor was lovely ad my favourite item on the menu is the crab salad for starter. Desserts were great as well."

"This is a very elegant and comfortable restaurant. From the moment you walk in the door, the staff is warm and welcoming. Throughout the meal they were attentive and helpful without being intrusive. Our waiter was excellent in helping us pair wines with our courses. So the service was excellent!
The food was very good but fell slightly short of outstanding. There are personal preferences but I felt that the dishes lacked the subtle nuances that separate a great meal from the truly extraordinary. It was certainly enjoyable and the portions were generous. The small touches such as the small treats at the end of the meal and a pair of muffins wrapped and delivered with the check was a gracious touch."

"I was surprised when the hostess told me that they were sending me to the bar instead of a table since i didn't re-confirmed my reservation. What is the point to reserve at open table if the restaurant is not going to respect it. Finnaly spoke to the manager and she solve the problem quickly.

"What I want is great food, an extensive wine list with value pricing, an attractive room that accomodates my purpose, and energy to keep things flowing. Veritas has it all. Somm Alex was very helpful in navigating the wine list. We started with 2008 Aubert Lauren, the Pan Roasted Scallop (sliced) to accomodate seared foie gras in the middle, "Ocean & Land" which was Lobster and a large bone sliced down the middle to reveal bone marrow, and "Beef in Transition." These were tasty, creative and wine-friendly. We ordered 1.5L mag 2001 Shafer Hillside Select. This 100 point Parker wine was a deal at $935. For our mains, my wife and I split the Roasted Duck and the Maple-Brined Wooly Pig. Everything was fabulous. We will go back again!"

"Immediately when you walk in Veritas you are greeted with welcoming smiles by the Veritas Team. It's a wonderful start to a highly anticipated evening. The room is simple yet elegant and strategically positioned tables are spaced appropriately apart so the diners are not intruding in each others conversations. A well executed menu is one of the stars from Executive Chef Hazen. It also complemented the Chateauneuf Du Pape which we ordered. Mind you, you should glance the extensively elegant wine list presented by Veritas before you order the food. All in all all expectations were met and you will not be disappointed."

"we were well cared for and the servers and chef tried their best to accommodate our schedule as we had tickets to a show that night. only problem was we needed more time to properly enjoy all of that food! but I can't blame the restaurant for that. I would suggest the tasting menu on a night where you have lots of time, that way you can relax and enjoy everything properly!"

"Unfortunately, to my disappointment, although the experience was pleasant the service was lackluster. and maybe its because so many people were saying what a great restaurant it is. We had to call a waiter over to get our drinks, as no one asked what we wanted from the bar, then again, I had to call the waiter over to order dinner, and was never told about the special (Lamb chops) which we would have ordered. While the food was good, the veal chop was very fatty."

"We were very disappointed. The food was fair to good but terrifically overpriced as compared to other similar restaurants. The service started out very well but then for some reason my table was ignored. We had to chase down our waiter twice to get a second glass of wine and then to get a bottle of wine. He came over once and then disappeared at the end of the night. This was most upsetting since it was my friends birthday.
I will never go back and will not recommend the restaurant to my friends and colleagues."

"It was my first time at Veritas. When specials were being told to us an option was provided for a tasting menu for the table where you could speak with the chef and tell him what you like and don't like/can't eat. Typically these tasting arrangements allow the chef to make you only what he/she wants to serve you and you are out of luck if food comes out that you don't love. He served up several small plates/courses and everything he prepared was delicious. It was truly special and the chef was eager to please. Wine list was extensive but I would have liked to have seen more choices at more reasonable price points. Service was attentive. This restaurant will now be placed in my rotation."

"The sommelier decanted our bottle of wine without even asking us first...It was a young brunello, we would have preferred to have left it in the bottle. Then they put the decanter next to a hot candle on a wait station far away from the table. And the food was just plain weird that night. Used to love this place, not sure what is going on...."

"It used to be a neighborhood gem but my recent dinner was disappointing - food was "good" but at this price point, good doesn't make it. And - the wine list - Give me a break - you need a forensic sommelier to find a decent wine under $120, let alone under $100. It's too bad; it used to be a destination."

"Awesome meal at Veritas. Had the lobster and bone marrow appetizer and the filet for dinner. My brother had the scallops. Try the desserts as well, delicious. Huge wine list. Everything was excellent and the service was superb- ask for Jennifer. They know what they are doing from start to finish. Will be back."

Don't let the menu fool you. It might seem deceptively simple at first but the flavors are great and the food is always prepared to perfection.
I see a lot of complaints about the price of wine, but I honestly found that there was wine priced to just about any budget."

"Excellent dinner! Veal chop is among the most outstanding dishes in NYC. Amazing, inevitably big portion, is delicately presented and the short rib ravioli and veggies on the plate are perfect… The temperatures were all perfect and everything tasted balanced and brilliant at the same time. The special, small scallops with “beluga lentils” and bacon was delicious. Wine list, among the best in town."

"We have been to Veritas before and were anxious to return. The Restaurant did not disappoint. Food was exquisite -I had the most delicious duck ever and my oyster appetizer was outstanding! the wine list is one of the most extensive I have ever seen, and while many wines were stratospheric in price, there were plenty that were both reasonably priced and excellent. this restaurant is among the best of the best!"
