"if you get seated in Robs section, ASK TO MOVE! It's a shame ...the food was very good! Unfortunately in this day and age if dinner for 4 (one non drinker) runs 450 ish and the service is so amazingly poor it's actually embarrassing to your guests...you do not go back. I had not had dinner there for about 2 years , but have always, in the past had not only good food, but excellent service as well. Here in DC and Miami as well. Service in DC is basically non existent..."

"We were in D.C. on vacation. Before leaving California I searched the internet looking for a special steakhouse to celebrate my husband's 45th birthday. All I had to go on was the websites of the different restaurants and reviews I found on different sites. I choose S&W because of their menu. I wanted a place with American Classic food of nice portions. We couldn't have been more pleased. From the moment we stepped into the door we felt welcomed. We were instantly greeted by the Maitre d' and had not been seated at our table for that long before our Waiter came over to greet us. It was 1st class service throughout the evening. They went above and beyond our expectations."

"We went for the $10 burger bash, which we confirmed with the waiter when we ordered. When the bill came the burgers were charged at the normal (much more expensive) price. It took 20 minutes to get a corrected bill. It seems that even thought S&W advertised the $10 burger bash for all of April, they only sell burgers at that price if the customer asks before ordering AND checks the bill. The burgers were OK for $10, but nothing special. This is the second such experience I've had at S&W; I will not be going back."

"Truly enjoyable! Starting as a table of 12, we had a couple cancellations and streamed in late due to heavy tourist traffic (cherry blossoms). The staff took it all in stride. The appetizers and cocktails were perfect (I'd go back just for the bar!) and the entrees, especially the steaks, were some of the best many of us had ever had. The wine, an Oregon Pinot Noir, was terrific; just the right body with silvery finish. Perhaps the best part of the experience was the service. Our waiter was in full command of the menu with a personable/fun demeanor that brought everything together. For us, S&W retained their reputation and rightful place as a DC standout. Many thanks!"

"Simply disappointing. While the food was okay, at their prices one would expect the food to be spectacular. It simply was not! There are several rooms and we were there on a Saturday night with one waiter for three of the rooms. "We were a party of 3. 2 of us were looking forward to having a rib eye for dinner. After we were seated and ordered drinks we were informed that they weren't serving ribeyes that night. The lamb rack I had was excellent but it wasn't the rib eye I had planned. It was not crowded so they did not sell out. What kind of a steak house runs out of steaks?I won't be going back."

"The staff was very professional and when appropriate very caring. We were celebrating my adult son's birthday. My son was greeted with a "Happy Birthday" wish. When we were seated he was given a card signed by the staff wishing him a great day.
Our waiter was incredibly helpful in describing some of the selections and had perfect timing.
The portions were perfect for my 6 foot 3" son, but a little overwhelming for me. He will have leftovers for the week.
He was given a free piece of cake which was a quarter of a 14" cake.
The quality of the meat is top notch."

"The food was pretty good! I had a caesar salad that was okay (it could've used a little more flavor) but the bread they served us is probably some of the best I've ever had at a restaurant in a long time. I had the salmon "Oscar" style (a delish white sauce with crab meat, spinach and asparagus) which was really good! It was actually a large portion and quite flavorful. My wife had the 14oz filet mignon "Oscar" style and loved the way that it was seared and seasoned. The sides were also pretty good...creamy spinach with the mac & cheese. At the end of the night, I spent about 240 bucks after tip but the food and the service seemed like it was worth it."

"For a high priced steakhouse, the experience was really disappointing. Our steak was over-cooked and didn't taste as good as other, similar restaurants. The service was lackluster. We had to ask for our water to be refilled numerous times. The ambiance was poor too. The lights were fully on and 80's rock music was playing the entire time. Overall it was sub-par compared to Capital Grille, Morton's or Flemings."

"Wine week, as always, was lots of fun. Given that the restaurant was full for lunch on Friday the service was slow but acceptable. The many glasses of wine made it much easier. The food was the usual level of pretty good. As now required we ordered a baked potato in advance and all was well. The courtesy and helpfulness of the servers pretty much offsets the delays in ordering and getting entrees when things are very busy."

"We celebrated my teenage daughters birthday. She said it was her best birthday ever. She received a birthday card from the staff when we arrived. We celebrated with somoe sparkling cider, had a great meal with very attentive service and concluded with a wonderful dessert. I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great food and ambiance."

"Not a good experience. Waiter’s uniform jacket showed every meal since last laundered. I am guessing 2 weeks! Food was just ok. It had the feel of mass production. And I am not found of the, give the waiter you order and a fleet of other people brings out the food. if there’s a problem you tell the Delivery person, he goes to find the waiter, the waiter comes by to see what’s wrong , then he take the plate back. Now 10 min have gone by,. Then the food returns. Just an awkward chain of events I would not recommend this place to a friend. Sorry"
