"The food was reasonably priced and was very good. The average meal is about $30 - $50 without wine. They have around 400 wines, according to the waitress, priced between $20 and $80 per bottle. It is beside the river and a pedestrian walkway, so it is a little noisy when seated outside. I would recommend this restaurant without hesitation."

"My husband and I just dined at Red's for the first time for our wedding anniversary. It was very loud at first due to a couple of group parties going on, but as they left the romantic ambience improved. Our shrimp appetizer was a little bland, but the sauce it came with was tasty. Our waiter was very attentive, but the table runners could have been friendlier and interact w/the customers more. I ordered the filet and it was done perfectly and melted in my mouth. The homemade hollandaise sauce was DIVINE!!! I could've skipped dessert and eaten a second filet... it was THAT good! (Better than Ruth's Chris) Glad I didn't skip dessert though, because the creme brulee was heavenly and came on a plate w/"happy anniversary" written in chocolate!!!"

"This is the nicest formal spot in Rockford. The ambiance alone is worth the cost of dinner. Fortunately, dinner is worthy enough on it's own. The selections are eclectic, but still within the palate options of non-foodies. This is a definite stop on the epicurean circuit for those on the north side of Kent County. Be sure to ask for seating, selecting fireside, outdoor and private seating. There is even a dining room for private parties. Love this spot."

"Amiance was very nice and service was excellent. Tuesday was not a busy night so noice was definitely not an issue. We stayed well past everyone else leaving and sensed no attitude or concern from any of the staff. Dessert served on a plate with Happy Birthday writen in chocolate was a very nice touch.

"Unfortunately each time we have been to Red's the service has been at best average. While it is a beautiful building and view the lack of attention to detail by the staff is disappointing. With their menu prices this is unacceptable. The staff also shows little knowledge of their wine and spirits menu. The bar is probably the best place to be served."

"Made reservations for our 20th Anniversary. Was greeted and seated on time. Waited fifteen minutes for our waiter ot greet us and placed our order for cocktails. Took twenty minutes to be served our cocktails after ordered. Fortunately we were in no hurry. Food order was placed and from that point service was good. This took place on a Wednesday night and restaurant was rather slow. Food was well presented and very good flavor. Had ordered flowers that were delivered to our table by staff member. Nicely done. Other then slow service very nice evening."

"We have been to Red's on other evenings and always had a good meal and great wine. Our latest experience was fair at best. My husband's steak was rather tasteless and dry. My daughter and mother-in-law had the skirt steak which they said was fair. My salmon was done wonderfully though. Probably will let them settle into the summer before considering a return visit.."

"Great food and really nice people. Had to wait way too long for our food after ordering. Air conditioning was blowing on us and they wouldn't turn it down. Table next to us was worse and several parties had to be moved from it. Had to wait 10 minutes for the valet guy to show up. Not sure I would go back any time soon."

"Our anniversary was capped off with a first time dining experience to Reds on the River. We were at first put off by the pricey reputation but soon discovered that quality comes with a price! Our entree's were beautifully presented and showed that the chef took care to give us the flavor and variety that comes with a fine eatery. The complementary dessert added just that extra "sweet something" to complete our day."

"It was raining the night we were there, so the outside patio was closed. Instead they sat us by the fireplace and it was a warm, cozy atmosphere. Our server was friendly, yet professional and very knowledgeable about the menu. My Mahi Mahi was excellent, but my husband's salmon was done to perfection. We will definitely return!"

"We had a wonderful experience! We had reservations and were seated promptly. Our server was very cordial and around when we needed her. She was helpful but not overly so. We never felt rushed and felt comfortable to stay and chat even after the main dishes were cleared. I would highly recommend!"

"I asked for a table by the fireplace - which we got, however, the fireplace was turned off for the season :(. Would not have picked that spot had I known that the fireplace was turned off. It was cold enough where the fireplace would have felt great! Other than this, it was a great evening."

"dinner was excellent,the scallops my wife had she said were excellent. I had the Delmonico with a side of mushrooms and we both had a bowl of soup for starters. The waiter did an excellent job. We were celebrating our 30th anniversary, and we made a early reservation at 5:30 pm. Not being that familiar with the view of the tables in the restaurant I did request the best table in the hour, hoping to get a decent view of the riveresr."

"As a longtime fan of Reds on the River, it only made sense for me to make it one of my stops for Rockford Restaurant Week. Unfortunately, the experience was adequate, not spectacular. The first course—Jerked Chicken and Sweet Potato Soup—was divine. Spicy, meaty, wonderful. The second and third courses, however—Sour Orange Mojo Roasted Pork with Black Beans and Rice, and Tres Leches Cake with Blueberry and Lemon Compote, respectively—were good, but not particularly interesting, or flavorful. Rockford Restaurant Week was an opportunity for area restaurants to put their best foot forward. Reds, unfortunately, barely wiggled its toe."

"This was supposed to be a nice evening where my wife and I were to meet my son and his fiance for dinner to help plan their upcoming wedding. All was good---except the waiter failed to put my wife's order in. Our food arrived, and three of us sat there until the waiter was finally hailed down. So she sat there while we ate. By the time her food arrived, we had finished our meals (to not let it get cold), and she was in no mood to eat. We put her meal in a take home, and gave it to our son. Nice restaurant and good food, but certainly considering the price of their meals, they need improvement in their customer service."

"We always love Red's and this visit was no different. They were out of one of the dishes we wanted to order (gnocchi) so we decided to try the flat iron steak. It was amazing! We weren't so sure we'd like the tropical salsa, but it totally made the dish and we would order it again in a heartbeat."
