"took my lady on a sat. night for mothers day. Atmosphere was great. We felt as if we had been transported to New York. It was a bit noisy due to the DJ but i liked the trance he was playing with.We got the chef's choice & loved it,especiallt cooking the wagyu on the rock at our table.The mushrooms were a bit salty and the tofu was, well, tofu. Everything else was great. Highly reccommended!"

"Need to call ahead to get patio seating, but it's pretty amazing.
It might not be the cheapest sushi in Nashville, but it's hard to say that anything beats their "The Bomb" roll or the dynamite shrimp app.
Accolades for the restaurant speak for itself, but have definitely resulted in having to call ahead sooner and higher prices. Still, one of the best spots in Nashville.

"Virago is just fabulous if not a bit 'overexposed'. I love the 1/2 Monday Maki and Happy Hour Drinks. Be adventurous and you won't be disappointed. The wilder it sounds the better it tastes so go for it. The atmosphere is seductive and relaxing. Super place for a date."

"We had a fabulous experience at Virago. We made a reservation for a table but the service was so spectacular at the bar that we decided to dine there. Our bartender David was very knowledgable, friendly, and charasmatic. There is no doubt that he must make many repeat customers for Virago. We were iin Nashville for a work conference and had we gone there the first night I assure you we would've been there every night. The food was amazing and very fresh."

"Service was very slow. Wait staff acted as though we were disturbing them. Food was good but sushi is over priced. Our entrees arrived at separate times. Had to sit and watch my date eat. :( I've had better experiences before at Virago. I hope tonight's experience is not a trend. I love sister restaurants of Kanye and Whiskey Kitchen. But staff at Virago needs 101 in how to treat customers like its all about them from the time they enter the door."

"This was probably one of the worse meals I have ever had at a restaurant. While in town on a business trip, I went to Virago with a co-wroker who had eaten there a few years back and recommended it and we were both very disappointed. We have both eaten at other M Street properties and had good expierences. The food was cold, flavorless and just plain salty. We ordered the rock shrimp which tasted like it was soaked in mayo. The crunchy rice and tuna was hard not crunchy. I had the setak that tasted like it was soaked in salt, i could not even eat more than two bites. Not a good place to dine in Nashville."

"Decor is upscale and relaxing at the same time. Service was excellent. Very easy to have a conversation. We had the duck eggrolls and an eel roll for starters, both of which were excellent. My companion had the chicken stir fry. Good, but overseasoned. I had the chicken meatballs with a side of jasmine coconut rice. I wish the meatballs hadn't had the sauce. The seasoning IN the chicken was great - but you had to get past an over-salty and very thick sauce coating the exterior. I received two pieces and didn't finish one due to the sauce. Desserts were GREAT. My friend had the doughnuts with lemongrass salt and Vietnamese creme chocolat, both great, and I had the michu trio - we both LOVED those!"

"Beautiful food, service and ambiance. Dined pre-Elton concert. Started with yellow tail and lobster tacos. The yellow tail was so yummy we ordered a second order ($6 happy hour special). For our main we ordered the New Moon roll which was very yummy. We also shared the Stoned Steak and an order of Green Beans...both delicious and fun! The food met out expectations--the V2 edamame was spicy, the grilled brussell sprouts were light and tasty, and the various sushi rolls we ordered were, according to my kids, the best in Nashville. The service was a little indifferent this time, which was unusual. The bar, visible from our overlook table, was full of the young and the beautiful, and Coach James Franklin even made an appearance."

"A bit pricey, but the food is great, not your everyday Asian fare. The decor is beautiful, warm, inviting, with a very vibey modern twist. One gripe though..... a big screen TV playing sports that is visible all over the restaurant. It does spoil the otherwise ultracool vibe. Make up your mind Virago.... are you a fine dining establishment or a sports bar. When I'm out for a romantic dinner, I don't want the game on.... and my wife definitely doesn't want the game on."

"Horrible experience-- the server was dismissive and rude. I ordered a starter (crispy rice/tuna) and nigiri to start. Instead, our entrees (mine the shrimp skewers, which were luke warm) and my fiance's waygu ribeye came out within 15 minutes of ordering. The waitress finally came by (after we were almost done with the entrees) to find out "how everything was" (by glaring at us...not really by asking). When we asked where our starters was, she said "shoot" and left the table without apologizing. Ten minutes later one of the appetizers arrived (after we had finished our entree). The nigiri never arrived, we were never asked if we would like more cocktails or sake, and absolutely no apologizes were offered. Stick with Kayne Prime."

"I was disappointed that my entrée came out after my 2 daughters had already finished their sushi dishes. I realize there are 2 different kitchens but the waiter should have timed things better. He never really apologized for it. The food is very good but service not so much. Not sure if I would return."

"The menu is completely different then when they were in their old location (some better options and some they took off I wish they'd bring back). Also, their prices have sky rocketted making a place I would only go on occasion as opposed to weekly like I did when it was in its old location. Overall a great place!"

"My boyfriend and I went to Nashville for a weekend away & ate at Virago. The atmosphere is great-definitely a hot spot with a cool vibe. The atmosphere was swanky without being stuffy. The food was very good too. We ordered Duck eggrolls as an appetizer--which were delicious! We also ordered 2 items off of the Robatayaki section of the menu: Tsukune chicken meatball and filet--both good, but the chicken meatball was the best--very flavorful. Then 2 rolls of sushi: Katana & Hot Scallop. Both delicious. Service was very attentive without being over the top. We had requested seats in the bar area (which I loved) because that is my favorite place to site at restaurants & the staff honored our request. Great night out--highly recommend!"

"One of the best meals I have had in a long time. The Blackened Tuna Sushi was incredible, the Rock Shrimp Tempura was fantastic, could have kept eating those. I had the Kayne Prime roll which is one of the best things I have eaten. Rolls could have been cut slightly thinner but that would be my only suggestion. Wine list is limited but there are some good selections. Seated right on time and had a knowledgeable server.
While it was not open when we were there the upstairs outdoor deck has a great view and looks like it would be a great atmosphere."

"It is a great restaurant - upscale, contemporary, chick - like many restaurants in Europe. Nashville needs more restaurants like this! Food prices are on the expensive side, but it is totally worth it, especially on a special occassion...
Staff was friendly and nice. I had a reservation for 7 people at 7pm on Saturday night, arrived couple minutes past 7pm and were seated 20 minutes later. We ordered some drinks at the bar while waited and ejoyed the bar atmosphere... Overall experience - very good and will be going back soon."

"The bartenders were good. Our waiter was great (very patient). However, the hostesses were not so great. We got to the restaurant really early for the 9:30 reservation to see if we could get a table earlier. We were told it would take an hour before we would be seated (understandable as is was Vday). An hour passed and we had not been called. I walked up to ask if a table was available. She said yeah, go ahead and tab out. She sat us in the bar area :( if we had known that they they didn't intend to sit us in the dining area we would have stayed seated at the bar and patiently waited for the 9:30 reservation. We ordered an app, sushi, two dinners, and dessert and that wasn't enough food for us. We are fit people."
