"We had dined at the Agave earlier in March and although we really just had appetizers we were favorably impressed. On returning in April with some friends we found the menu had changed, at first we thought oh no, but carried on. The menu if recollection serves me has less offerings than before and is tilted more to the upscale. As it turned out we should not have worried our meals were all excellent. The dishes were well conceived, interesting and prepared with an expertise that I would not normally associate with this type of food.
The service, decor and atmosphere all added to a very nice dining experience! Recommended!"

"THIS WAS ONE OF OUR "NAPLES STAPLES" -- LARGE MENU, LOTS OF OPTIONS & PRICE POINTS. MY PERSONAL FAVE WAS THE BRISKET TACOS....DELICIOUS & A GREAT VALUE. IMAGINE OUR SURPRISE WHEN WE WERE TOLD THE MENU CHANGED ON 4/1 DUE TO AN "IDENTITY CRISIS" (THEY WERE PERCEIVED AS "MEXICAN" BUT WANT TO BE "SOUTHWESTERN.")
THE MENU IS NOW EXTREMELY LIMITED W/EVERYTHING BEING VERY EXPENSIVE --$26 FOR FAJITAS??? GIVE ME A BREAK......WHILE OUR WAITRESS WAS VERY PATIENT & THE MANAGER VERY OPEN ABOUT THE CHANGES, I WON'T BE GOING BACK IF THINGS STAY THE WAY THEY ARE NOW....."

"Went to agave on Sunday may 5th for cinco de mayo. Been going here since they opened but last few months things have gone downhill. Bar was pretty full but the restaurant was maybe half full. Took forever to get our drinks and when they did come they were very weak. Ordered the filet mignon fajita and my wife had the shrimp fajita. Peppers and onions looked like they were microwaved and left to sit in their water. The filet and shrimp were barely edible. Overall the best thing we had was the guacamole.
Agave has always been over-priced but their food used to be decent and their drinks very good. Not sure what has changed over there but they now excel in nothing. For $50+ a head, I expect much more. We will not be going back anytime soon."

"I must admit, I am not a huge Mexican food fan. But when I do want it, I want more traditional entrees with lots of cheese, and sour cream and rice and beans. My quaesedilla was tasty but dry, as were the ribs - tasty but dry. The server was astute enough to point out ahead of time that their ribs were not the traditional fall off the bone barbeque kind.
My margarita was very tasty.
We also felt that the menu was overpriced.
Service was very good, ambiance wonderful.
I would return here if they have a happy hour with small portions and exceptional prices for food and drinks."

"Change of menu not a pleasant surprise, with loss of some favorites. No chips and salsa at a Southwestern Grill? Replaced by "impeccable, delicious bread service" that we never saw. All entrees overpriced and fair at best. Not sure why most were proced the same as a steakhouse. Service was rushed, though attempt at enthusiasm was notable. Unless you're going for one of the 200+ types of tequila, don't see any reason to go back...unfortunate."

"We had eaten here once before and loved it.This time was a very different story. When we walked in, the smell of smoke was so strong it made us think we were going to be attending a campfire.When we were seated, the server informed us that the menu had recently changed. The new menu is rather sparse and decidedly non-mexican! The guac was good, but served with some new "made in house chips" that were very bland. Who serves guac without corn chips??? No gluten free. A very strange kids menu, not even a Taco on it! . Meals were mediocre at best. Bring back the original menu!"

"we had a wonderful easter brunch at agave. The only downfall was the set up of the buffet. Very confusing. Also, the mimosa/ bloody mary bar was a great idea, but I think the servers should take care of that, then the buffet area would be a little less congested. Also, if the servers brought the plates, I think the flow of the buffet would go smoother and faster. People had to wait 15-20 minutes for the plate then circle around for what they wanted so it made it hard if you had chldren with you. The food was fantastic. The server was very nice and attentive as well. Would do it again, but know to go later when less crowded or know to keep my patience!"

"Worst service ever!, but the food was very good. Once we sat down, the waitress took 10 minutes to come take our drink order. After that, we barely saw her at all; when she did come, she barely stopped long enough to listen to what we were asking.We ordered guacamole which takes forever; there is one waiter making it... We decided to change the appetizer, so we asked for something else. When she brought the app, she said "Sorry about the guacamole Fred." Right in front of us to the waiter as if we inconvienced him, he hadnt even made it yet! She was rude and inattentive, and made us feel we were bothering her. We were left for periods of up to 20 min with no drinks, and we had to flag down other servers to order. Food good, service awful!"

"The ambiance was nice and our waitress was very attentive. Unfortunately the rest of the experience was forgettable. The additional waitstaff seemed confused bringing the wrong dishes to our table at multiple times. Two of the items I tried to order were no longer on the menu. The third item I inquired about, the mole, I was steered away from by the waitress (but she brought a taste and i'm glad I didn't order it). All of this could have been forgiven if what we did eat was good, but none of it was. The guacamole prepared tableside was way over salted, and neither the other appetizer, nor the main courses were particularly flavorful. With all the choices in this area, we won't be back to this one."

"My partner and I disagree on this onr. I ordered the carne asada and it was great; he ordered the trout and thought it was mediocre. I tasted his trout and thought it was very good. The waitree noticed he didn't eat much and the manager came over to inquire which we were both impressed with; she offered to get him something else. "Dined here for the first time with friends and we all thought it was great. We did the special which is $40 for two and a pick f one appetizer and two entrees. We ordered the carne asada entre and the trout entre. Both were delicious and very generous portions. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend."
