"The staff always seem to enjoy their work. They are friendly and easy and very attentive. Not a large menu, but there is something for everyone, and they have a terrific variety for pizza toppings. Small dinning room with lots of windows---it has a feel of a neighborhood place that is relaxing, informal, and cozy."

"The food and service were both excellent, but the noise level was way too high. My dining partner and I were sitting right across the table from one another, and we needed to shout in order to carry on a conversation. Not a pleasant atmosphere, to say the least."

"I've been to the restaurant for lunch several times for lunch but this was my first visit for dinner. I had dinner reservations for 6:30 on a Friday night and I was on time but the rest of my party was an 1.5 hours late. The restaurant was accomodating and seated us once we were all present."

"The appetizer mussels (tomato & basil) were very good! Our entres were only okay. I can't place it but the experience was down a notch from our many past visits."

"Had a date here and the setting was great for it. The menu is simple but refined. The food is fresh and flavorful. I had the best gnochii that I had had in years. Deffinantly a great spot. My date and I could talk with out too much noise. The food came quickly.. and the service was friendly attentive but not intrusive."

"A bit disappointing in that the restaurant was completely full and they had no table for us; we ended up eating at the bar for dinner after waiting 10 minutes (no table vacated until 30 min after we arrived). Food was very slow to arrive and unfortunately not the quality I recall from my last visit about 5 years ago. I hope they were just having an off night."

"A limited but lovely menu. Cozy neighborhood feeling (or will be again when the construction project next store is over). Healthy, fresh Italian comfort food."

"My husband and I have been coming to Red Tomato Cafe for many years now, and not once have we been disappointed. The food always tastes so fresh and authentic. The service has always been friendly and welcoming, even the minute you walk through the door. The atmosphere of the restaurant is so colorful and beautiful, the brick oven alone is definitely worth ranting about! Be sure to ask about their specials, I always get the risotto, because its just too darn tasty, especially with a bottle of wine! My husband tends to get a pizza and we usually share the dishes. The Smokey is our FAVORITE. And to end the night we never leave without an order of the tiramisu! :) We highly recommend a visit to this Bethesda gem!!"

"My favorite Italian spot in Bethesda. The place has been there for 15+ years and it always delivers. Gnocchi are to die for. Try the veggie pizza and vino bianco mussels."
