"Been twice both before theater, with very good experience both times. So much better than the typical Asian restaurant. This has nice decor in an attractive Center City location where the food is prepared well and quickly, and the staff is attentive. It has reasonable prices for food, and is a BYOB."

"Makiman isn't the flashiest sushi restaurant in town, but it cannot be beat in terms of bang for your buck. I've never had a complaint about the rolls - always fresh and delicious. Makiman has become our go-to when we want to have a tasty meal downtown but do not want to spend $50+. Bring a few bottles of wine and enjoy the energy that the other guest bring and you're all set."

"Sushi was on my list for lunch the day that I dined at Makiman, and I was not disappointed. I had three special rolls, and each was competently made. The fish was fresh, and the rolls were large. I attribute my only gripes to being the first customer of the day: the fish was very cold, the tempura batter that came with one of the rolls seemed warmed rather than fried (...perhaps the oil had not gotten to the right temperature yet?) and the roll that was on the lunch special board was charged full price (...even full price is fair here, so I didn't hassle them for the difference). These were all small things. I'll be back (...though a little bit later next time)!"

"We enjoy Makiman on a regular basis as our go to sushi place before a show on Broad street. Food is consistently good (fresh) and the servers are always kind and helpful. This is a low key BYOB that is very comfortable...why we are regulars."

"We are so tired of the same-old same-old Japanese sushi restaurant options. We ventured out of the suburbs and found this gem! The options were creative and delicious! Our kids ate every bite and the price was very reasonable."

"This is the first time I've eaten in the restaurant as opposed to eating it at home. I must say the taste and quality of the food has been much better in the past."

"Went to Makiman after a show at the Merriam Theater (it's right around the corner). We wanted a late lunch(3PM) and it was the only sushi restaurant in the area (on Open Table) open at that time on a Sunday. Only downfall was that it's BYOB (fine if you're not at the theater beforehand.) We had some salmon nigiri and 3 roles. The specialty role selection is awesome. So many great rolls to pick from. And, the quality of all the fish was outstanding. Also tried an avacodo salad which was very good. My only big complaint was the service. We were the only table (a take out order or two and some people at the sushi bar) - yet the service was very, very slow. We had to ask for almost everything. Would go back for take out :-)"

"Great spot! Went with a group for a birthday - the service was great; everyone was very friendly and accomodating. The sushi was awesome. Recommend the Sixers roll and the sweet potato roll...both were delish."

"After only getting delivery from here and loving it, I decided to try it in person after reading great reviews! It was delicious! Very inexpensive, BYOB (major plus) and just a great vibe. It seems like a great place to have a big group of people at as well, great food and service!"

"Makiman was great for accommodating my large group of 20 people. The servers were very nice and did their best to get everyone's food out around the same time. I would definitely recommend!"

"I am not a fan of sushi so I am writing this review from the point of view of my husband and the other couple with us. They all had sushi and enjoyed everything they ordered. I on the other hand had limited options from which to select. I knew this ahead of time but if you do not eat sushi this is not a good place to go. If you do, go and enjoy!"
