It doesn't take an explorer to seek out the aptly named Safari Room amid the exotic zebra-print furniture and carved elephant busts of the Davenport Tower lobby. The frequent hum of activity, the sparkle of laughter and conversation — not to mention the incredibly affordable lunch and dinner specials — seem to draw scores of guests almost instinctively.
Since opening in 2007, this truly stylish restaurant has had the quiet distinction of becoming a kind of pet project to owner Walt Worthy. It is a place where he has been able to introduce all the classic Southern fare from his youth in Georgia: dishes like homestyle grits, savory smoked barbecue, indulgent fried okra, and flatbreads fired in a special oven then sprinkled with tantalizing toppings. Yet the menu is broad enough to satisfy all cravings, no matter whether it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
"This was my first time dining at the Safari Room. The food was delicious, the service was friendly, and the little desserts were just right with coffee at the end of the meal."

"My mom loves the Davenport Hotel and we all had never been to the Safari Room. The experience was excellent! The food was superb, and the service was top notch. We especially enjoyed all the wonderful decor to fit the name of the restaurant. I highly recommend the Safari Room for Mother's Day brunch, or any other special occasion!"

"We had lunch for four at noon and were seated right away. The ambiance was wonderful and the service was good. They were originally out of their signature coffee cake but were able to procure some addition cakes from the Palm Court across the street. While my mom and sister enjoyed splitting a Crab Louis, my partner found his crab omelet dry and over cooked. I'm not sure we will return there anytime soon."

"We went to dinner to celebrate a graduation with four in our dinner party and had made reservations. The hostesses seemed overwhelmed with the patrons, struggled a bit with the computer system, eventually found the reservation and we were seated in a quiet area- which was in sharp contrast to the rest of the eating areas which were very loud. The waiter was pleasant, but again seemed stressed and overly busy. A request for a varied option on an appetizer was not followed through on. The wine order took longer than expected. Food was very good. Overall the experience was acceptable, but not commensurate with the price and reputation."

"My wife and I went here for our Anniversary and had a very nice time. We reserved our table online and when we arrived it was ready. The service was very friendly and prompt. We have very nice drinks followed by both a well presented and delicious meal. I was surprised at how well priced the food was so all in all, it was a very nice experience. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a dinning experience that can be both semi-formal or casual."

"Very good food and service. The 3-course dinner special was outstanding, especially the short-ribs! One noticeable complaint - the first glass of wine for my wife, was a nice, and expected pour, nothing too large or small. However, the second glass was about a third of that initial glass. So small, it was a shock. With restaurants already charging an expected and understandable premium for wine, the insult of such a tiny glass was honestly beyond belief."

"Absolutely wonderful dining experience; our server Bethanie went above and beyond our expectations. We were celebrating our 37th wedding anniversay and she created a very special dessert platter in our honor. Can't wait to return."

"LOUD, very loud. Our waitress didn't tell us the dinner came with wine so we ordered a bottle, then she tells us after she pours! Little attention from her the entire time. My meat was tough, did I say loud? Couldn't hear my aunt say a thing. Everyone else's meal was very good, just expected more of a restaurant atmosphere not a bar."

"We had a great experience the last night of Spokane restaurant week. Good food, plenty of it, and great atmosphere. Jordan, our server, treated us well."
