Palm Court Grill at The Davenport Hotel Reviews List
Palm Court Grill at The Davenport Hotel
The Palm Court Grill continues to serve the highest-quality food at a price that makes fine dining accessible to everyone. Its menu features choice cuts of USDA prime beef and freshly caught fish along with the region's finest wines and select ingredients that sample the bounty of the Northwest. The restaurant's private dining rooms have provided the graceful setting for wedding rehearsal dinners, birthdays, luncheons, and get-togethers for generations of guests. For smaller groups and people watchers, the tables in the historic lobby next to the hearth offer a mix of coziness and palatial grandeur. Meals for every appetite are served throughout the day. The Palm Court Grill also continues to uphold another estimable tradition: the Crab Louis salad, created and made famous nearly a century ago by Chef Edward Mathieu and loaded with tender Dungeness crab, is still served according to the original recipe — with, of course, a dash of contemporary spice.
"The Palm Court Grill was top notch, but you wouldn't expect anything different considering the hotel it is in! I had the Alaskan Salmon with a raspberry champagne sauce and it was fabulous! The chef presents the dish well and it tastes even better. Service was excellent! Our waiter was very attentive, but without overdoing it. Next time we are in the Spokane area, we will definitely be dining here again!"

Review 2 for Palm Court Grill at The Davenport Hotel
"Be prepared to fork out some $$. The cheapest thing on the menu is the prime rib french dip for $19.99. Well there may have been a salad for less than that... However, it was just an average french dip w/fries. The meat was plentiful and tender tho. The lemon drops r always good. Service was average. I wasn't disappointed, I wasn't blown away either. For the $ we spent--over $100 for 2, it didn't knock my socks off or anything. My main purpose for going there was to show off the hotel to my friend who had come into town. Mission accomplished on that endeavor. The beauty of the hotel made up for the so-so dining experience."

Review 3 for Palm Court Grill at The Davenport Hotel
"For a special night the dinner was pleasant but for the money the food was not to the standard I thought it should be. The waiter was delightful and easy to work with. The whole dinner was very slow when it wasn't crowded at all. I would recommend with the suggestion go there for the hotel experience not to focus on the food. The food was very fine and not a reason to every not go, just go with the expectation a tiny bit lower than the hotel's beauty."

Review 4 for Palm Court Grill at The Davenport Hotel
"I ate at the Palm Court Grill three times while on a brief visit to Spokane. Upon arrival, the early bird dinner -- teriyaki salmon was out of this world, cooked perfectly and really delicious; the cheesecake was different (not pie-shaped) and yummy. I had breakfast the next morning with a fruit plate and their unbelievable coffee cake. Finally, I gave a bridal shower in the private dining room at the Palm Court Grill. The staff was exceptional, and the food was as well. We had a "limited menu" for the shower; my choices were crab Louise and a chocolate torte dessert that kept me happy and full all the way on my flight back to LA. Everyone seemed to enjoy all the menu choices presented. Special thanks to servers Derek and Cindy."

Review 5 for Palm Court Grill at The Davenport Hotel
"We were in Spokane on an overnight layover and wanted to make the most of our brief stay. The Palm Court Grill was a fabulous choice. The architecture of the setting is a must-see but the food did not disappoint either. We had calamari for an appetizer...fresh tasting and lightly breaded. My husband enjoyed the fresh berry salad while I chose the heirloom tomato...both were delicious. For an entree we chose the scallops(husband) and the salmon. Both were cooked appropriately and had delicious sides. Our wonderful dessert was a Hazelnut Mousse which we split. I would like to make note of the attentive wait-service and the excellent bar service also."

"Wonderful service and menu selections. Fabulous gluten free options, and a knowledgeable staff on the subject. Recommend dining room seating as it is much quieter than the atrium."

Also enjoyed the happy hour wine {1/2 price]. The only negative was it was noisy due to St Paddy's celebrations.Otherwise we had a great evening!"

"The food was great! My friend and I had the fish and chips which was wonderful! The fish was fresh and very little batter. I loved it! After the symphony, we came back for desert! Which was also great! Lovely place and great food!"

Review 13 for Palm Court Grill at The Davenport Hotel
"I ordered the prime rib rare. It was served med well with the servers apology saying that the kitchen did not always tell him when they ran out of meat that was cooked at the requested level. I sent it back and was then served a good steak. The hotel then comped us the whole meal which made up for a mistake that was totally avoidable
Better communication between the Waite staff would have avoided this loss to the hotel."

"The website doesn't state the actual restaurant area closes at 2 pm or I would have made a earlier or much later reservation. Menu is much smaller this time of day."

Review 17 for Palm Court Grill at The Davenport Hotel
Disappointed with Open Table and The Palm Court Grill. Made my reservation 7-10 days in advance and still had the least desirable table in the restaurant. Should also be noted that it was not on a holiday, and was on mid-week night, etc. We were put into a corner of the restaurant where the tables were not even set. Basically, we sat in a dark hallway next to the servers station. Come on Open Table!
We hoped that the food would redeem the situation. Not exactly. Aside from the portion size of our entrees, they both came out luke warm and undercooked. The only bright spot was our server.
Overall, wouldn't recommend Palm Court for dinner and would certainly not rely on Open Table for making a reservation.
