A contemporary oasis offering affordable gourmet cuisine, Cosmo's Cucina was established in November 1992 with the goal of bringing simply creative cooking to Kalamazoo. Located at the corner of Vine and Locust Streets, two blocks west of Chenery Auditorium, also known as "Old Central High School." Cosmo's is on the second floor of a 110 year old building that has been the home of many restaurants including The Vine Garden Cafe, Wall Street and Granola, The Marketplace, The Troubadour and H. Buffalo Esquire.
The main floor was for many years, the neighborhood grocery and bakery, and the home of many different, sometimes eccentric retail endeavors. It is now the home of O'Duffy's Pub, a gathering place for friends, old and new.
"This is such a charming restaurant with good feeling and food is superb. It's rather pricey but no more than other restaurants of equal caliber. The bar is on the lower level of the building so that provides a quieter atmosphere for the restaurant upstairs."

"When we arrived our table was waiting. Our server was very knowledgeable of the menu and evening features. Several of us had the scallops that were cooked to perfection. Served with butternut squash and veggies to create a wonderful infusion of flavors and textures. Cosmos is a definate do again!!"

"Great food. Great environment. Only complaint was that the food was prepped all ahead and special requests like no onions or no salad dressing were denied"

"Our waiter was a gem! The duck was outstanding. My daughter-in-law was very pleased with your special, stir-fried pork and rice. A very enjoyable evening. My only suggestion is to offer a wider selection for wine by the glass."

"Last night was a great night. All 5 at the table enjoyed their meal, the service, and the atmosphere greatly. In fact my father, the pickiest guy who doesn't like eating out said he wants to go back. HIGHLY suggest anyone tries this restaurant!"

"The hangar steak special with root vegetables was beyond compare! Prepared exactly as we both requested. Our server, Lisa, was attentive, knew her product and always came to the table with a sweet smile. We then moved downstairs to O'Duffy's Pub to finish a night with friends and a few laughs and couldn't ask for a better local gem!"

"I don't believe my dinner was that outstanding. It was a special, salmon pasta. I consider myself to be an excellent cook. I believe I could have done a better job in making it more flavorful. It tasted a bit fishy. Perhaps more lemon, some capers, etc would have enhanced it. Plus, it was dry.
It was my friend's birthday so I wanted to treat her to dessert. Because she is on a gluten free diet we could not have dessert. There was nothing available for her.
Not sure if I will return for awhile. I believe Cosmos is over priced with their food selections. Sorry, but that is my feelings."

"Well this was not my best restaurant experience. Cosmos was very busy. I think most tables were full. Service was slow for our table of 7. Several of my brunch companions commented that the food was only average and they were not impressed with the speed of service. Prices are a bit higher than other breakfast places we have tried. Not Cosmos fault but I got a parking ticket while I was there. All in all based on this experience I would not recommend for larger groups. Might return for a party of 2 or 3."

"Friendly staff, food was very good. Upstairs ambience could be warmer, little cold and one dimensional needs some contrast or color. Overall very pleased and will definitely return."

"the service was great and it was not noisy. great for our need to engage in conversations. However, the food was a little disappointing. I couldn't continue eating after a few bites. The Italian bread is wonderful though."

"This is the second time we have dined at Cosmos. We loved it on our first visit, but unfortunately, we were disappointed this time. The duck entree was swimming in a kumquat sauce that was too sweet and sour. The rack of lamb was good, but the accompanying gnocchi was rubbery and sauced with berries and their juice; a combination that didn't quite work. The butternut squash and wild mushroom lasagna was good but cooled quickly and you could tell it had been reheated. They were out of belgian endive so that eliminated an appetizer and a salad (they substiuted spring greens). It was a just OK meal. So sad...."

"We had a guest in town from connecticut and we had never taken him to this restaurant. We had a great meal, the service was great and the noise level was acceptable. My wife and I have eaten there many times in the last 5 years, and we even went there for our last anniversary where we sat outside on the deck/porch and back in a secluded corner. We have always suggested this restaurant as one of our favorites and no one has ever been disappointed. I am positive that we will return."

"We came for brunch. We waited a long time after asking for a few minutes to decide. It turned out to be more then 15 min. Some of the food was not hot and some was over cooked. Taste was good."
