Founded in the fifties, people have been congregating at Puckett"s for over half a century. We've updated a bit, added some recipes from our family and friends, and thrown in some great live music. But it's still Puckett's Grocery... nothing too fancy, but everything good. It's where the locals go for real food, real people and real fun.

"I went to Puckett's in Nashville to unwind from a long day at work and to rewind for a long evening. Charly, our server, was excellent. She handled five weary teachers very well. The highlight for me was the Nana's size cobbler. Cherry happened to be the flavorof the day. It hit the spot. The atmosphere here is always fun. I have been there for every meal and a show. It is consistently fun.
We left with a second wind."

"Staff seemed overworked but many tables set unused with patrons waiting. Makes me think they are lacking staff. Food was told it would be longer with fried chicken so was expecting that delay. One issue I noted was my wine glass was less than half full. Thought well I guess that is what they considered a glass. Then saw others receiving a glass and it was 3/4 full so it was too late to mention."

"Had early dinner reservations before going to the Ryman, and informed waitress we were not in a hurry. She did not rush us and was very friendly. The drink and food menu selections were impressive and the food when it arrived was GREAT. Best pulled pork we've had. Excellent value. I am sure we'd be regulars if it wasn't so far from home. Lots of items we'd like to try."

"The place was packed the night we went (even at 6:15 p.m.) But with reservations they seated us right away. Service was excellent, even though the waitress was extremely busy with other tables. I would definitely recommend Puckett's Downtown, just don't expect to be heard very well - the place tends to be loud."

"Food as good, atmosphere was good, the service was great, the beer was good. Glad we stopped in during our first trip to Nashville to try it, but not a place that I would say someone has to go here when they come to Nashville. I had the fried catfish, and again...it was good. Nothing to write home about. It was fried in a cornmeal type batter, wasn't especially flavorful or spicy, just ok. The sweet potato fries we got as appetizers were good, and the fried green tomatoes were good - but nothing really jumped out at me and was like BAM!"

"We went here for our first dinner while visiting Nashville for a Girls' Weekend getaway. What a fun experience! "All in all, a mixed bag. Convenient downtown location, which was what we needed that night. We had a pork quesadilla as an appetizer, and it was good. Fried chicken was excellent, but the accompanying sides were lukewarm. My wife had the black bean burger and steamed vegetables, The vegetables were prepared well, but she would not order the black burger again. Restaurant is noisy, which is good for groups and families. Ate the apple pie for dessert. I was surprised that it lacked good cinnamon apple flavor. I would try something else next time.
As you would suspect, don't come here for health food. Stick with the southern meats and fried sides."

"My friends wanted to try Pucketts BBQ because they are looking for someone to cater their reception dinner for their downtown Wedding. One had the pork, one had the chicken. Both agreed it was terrific, so the catering decision was made. I had the cajun chicken and waffles - I guess a Southern thing that has grown on me,
Service was friendly and quick - Jessie was our waitress. The restaurant was crowded, but that is normal. Another good experience at Pucketts."

"Why is it in Nashville that every restaurant has to have live music? What if I want to just hang out with my friends and actually hear them talk without having to yell over some band I don't want to hear.
Just a little gripe.
The service here was great- a step above the good service at other Puckett's in town. I had the strawberry salad with chicken and it was great. The spinach dip also gets a thumb up. We had a party of 10, including out of town guests and no one left unhappy"

"The best bbq pork, salmon and catfish! Also good sausage and cheese appetizer. Make a reservation and request a booth if you want to be out of the crowd of tables in the middle. Music didn't start til 8pm (supposed to start at 7pm) but great live music once it got started. Our first visit to Nashville and all 4 of us loved the choice! Also make sure you are hungry - big portions! Fantastic first taste of real southern food!!! Friendly and competent service!!!!"

"The food was quite good, the service was outstanding and the overall vibe was nice (though a bit noisy). The menu offered a nice range of options -- both in selection and prices. It was our first visit to this Puckett's location, though we have visited the Boathouse and Leiper's Fork locations many times. We will definitely make a return visit. "We were super excited to try this place, but we were sorely disappointed with everything. In my mother-in-laws words, they should be embarrassed to serve what they serve. The food was less than average. My husband and I tried to order a beer and the taps were broken and they were out of every other beer we tried to order. Definitely will not be back here, sadly because the restaurant itself has A LOT of potential. It's a great atmosphere. It's a shame the food is less than average at above average prices!!"

"My family was traveling from out of state and I wanted to try fried green tomatoes. We read previous reviews about Puckett's and decided to stop in. We're so glad we did! The smell of smoked food welcomed us as we stepped in the doors. We had local brewed beers, which were good, and the fried green tomatoes were FANTASTIC! Seriously, F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C! Chicken and waffles were alright, but the BBQ plater was very tasty AND filling. Live entertainment just rounded out the whole experience to make it a place we'd go again in a heartbeat. I'm just sad we couldn't stop on the way home!"

"We were a party of 6 and had a wonderful meal. Everyone was happy with their food and our waitress (Charlie) was fantastic! A definite 5-star experience. Went back for breakfast the next day and that was good too."

"I had an awesome time visiting this resturant for the first time. I am from NY. The food was great, the ambiance was great, the service was great, the band was AWESOME. I only had limited time in TN as I was there for a conference. I toured Broadway and then went to pucketts for dinner and the show and felt like I had a very well rounded Tenesee experience. I would recommend it highly."

"Early evening reservation for 4 before a concert in downtown Nashville. Excellent service and a good beer selection. The fried green tomatoes and fried pickles/jalapenos were excellent, especially the jalapenos. Menu full of southern favorites with enough modern US dishes to keep everyone happy.
Steak, Chicken Fried Steak and Fried Chicken were all very good."

"We had a great dinner at Puckett's while visiting Nashville. The food was wonderful, rolls were fresh and appeared homemade. It was a crowded night with live music which was a bit loud for dinner conversation, but it was part of the atmosphere! We enjoyed our dinner so much, we returned for lunch the next day! You will need reservations to get in there for dinner, so using Open Table is highly recommeneded!"

"We walked in for an early dinner prior to this reservation. The food was more enjoyable as the service was good and the noise level was low enough to have a conversation but at a level that we didn't have to worry about the three year old and year old disturbing other diners. The beans, potato salad, cole slaw, and corn cake...the sides...were delicious."

"Overall was good. We had the chicken fried steak, which was wonderful. The side dishes, NOT so much, tasted caned. It really seems more like a bar that also sells food, instead of the other way around. Yes, I will go back, but with downtown's parking and crowds it won't be a weekly trip."
