We feature an expansive menu ranging from artisan cheeses, starters, soups, salads, sandwiches and pizzas to pasta and seafood. We take a great deal of pride in utilizing the freshest, local ingredients that change with the seasons.
On the wine side of things our wine list features over 80 glass and 600 bottle selections. Over the years our wine program has been recognized with various accolades that include an "Award of Ultimate Distinction" from Wine Enthusiast Magazine and being named "Best Wine Bar" by Evening Magazine's Best of Western Washington Viewers Poll.

"Late night dinner at Purple Cafe while spending a weekend in Seattle with my hubby. From the hostess to the server, everyone was friendly, knowledgable and made us feel "at home." The Gorgonzola stuffed Dates and Grilled asparagus were delish but my fav entree was the Pork Porterhouse! Soooo yummy. Ended the meal with Cinnamon Roll Bread Pudding and freshly pressed coffee! All In All....a real gem!"

"I have been to Purple many times. This is the first time that the services was slow. It seemed like they didn't have enough staff working. The food was really good but they messed up my order. I have allergies that I told the waitress about, but she didn't put the order in correctly. So I had to wait for my sandwich to be remade. I would still reccomend Purple and will still continue to do there."

"I've been to Purple Cafe in Seattle 2 other times, but never had the awesome experience we did this time around all thanks to CT, the wine captain. His passion for wines and food parings, it made our dining experience that much better, his service was excellent! He even took the time to write down all the wines that were my favorites so I can remember them for next time! As usual the Lobster Mac and Cheese has never disappointed with big chucks of lobster meat. The beef tartare was not quite what I had expected, was a bit disappointed, maybe too much aioli & an overpowering pickled vinegar taste that took away from the beef. But CT's recommendation for the spicy prawns to go with the Riesling was great! I'll be back for sure!"

"Purple cafe delivered on attentive service, creative and tasty food and great location for downtown after dinner activity like attending the Fifth Avenue Theater. The seating is very close which is a little distracting. The wait staff is very busy so don't expect frequent check in during the meal. Nice place to people watch, particularly during holiday, prom or wedding seasons. Definitely make a reservation, it will make a big difference in the reception from the hostess."

"Haven't written a review before but this was truly a poor experience.
The three of us had been to the Purple before and were looking forward to it before the show at Triple Door for my wife's BD. The service was horrible (Rebecca barely acknowledged us through out the meal). The food was poor - couldn't finish the tomato soup and the prawns were "fishy" tasting (only ate two of them). Server never asked how the food was and when we told her she just shrugged.
Basically threw down the BD chocolates and left - never acknowledged my wife's BD or engaged us at all. Not sure what we did to her or if she just hates her job but it ruined the whole experience.
We won't be back."

"Once seated our waiter was quite attentive and very knowledgable of the menu. Although he didn’t know the wine list, he quickly brought over another staff member who was quite familiar with the wine and recommended an excellent Malbec. Our food was served warm, displayed beautifully and a personal recommendation would be the crab cake appetizer. Delicious! The only drawback is the waiting area. There is no place to wait for your table and guest must stand outside or in the isle near other guests tables. We will definitely be back."

"We had great expectations of a memorable dining experience before this meal. They were quickly erased as we waited 15 minutes for a waitress to appear. The menu choices were varied, however, the idea of an 18 dollar burger did not seem right. We ordered the Tuna tartar as an appetizer and were pleased. We then decided to order a pizza and a full sized salad and split them between us. The pizza description was very misleading, the sausage was described as spicy, but was in fact bland and appeared on the pizza as tiny crumbles. The confit potatoes were mushy and didn't go well on a pizza with a "soft" crust. The salad was pretty good however. This is NOT someplace we would ever return to."

"The menu did not have enough options for dinner. Their selection was more like a lunch menu with lots of appetizers. My daughter and I split a BLT and salad. My husband had a veggie pasta dish which was bland in color. It just had a few veggies and all were green. My son-in-law had a hambuger. I would go for lunch, or happy hour, but not if I wanted to have a nice dinner.
Also their chairs are too high off the ground so I could not get my feet to touch the floor for support. I noticed other people were swinging their feet off the ground too. Sitting in this position for two hours made my back hurt and cut the circulation in my legs."

"It may have just been an off day for our waiter. My bill came to 40.26 or something along those lines. I paid $60 cash. He returned with one $20 and told me that he covered the $.26, and didn't have change. Um.... how do you expect to get a tip if you give back a $20 bill. So my friend ended up having to cover my tip as well. Please advise your wait staff that if they want a tip--they need to go to another cash register to get change. Simple. And on another note, we ordered vodka/soda w/ lemon, they came every time with lime--it's those details that make us not want to return anytime soon."

"If you love wine and cheese - this is the place to go! They have a large wine list and will pair with "cheese flights." The food is great too! I would recommend hanging out in the up stairs area at the open bar. They will serve you cheese right in front of you! Great for couples and large groups."

"We were still enjoying our coffee that we ordered after finishing our lunch, but our server had to interrupt our conversation by keeping on checking if we were ready to pay the bill. He came by our table at least twice to turn the bill that I put face down. "Whenever you are ready" was what he said, but his action didn't really mean that way."

"Wow...what a great experience! My husband and I had a date night out and it couldn't have been better. The front desk and wait staff went to great lengths to make sure our dinner was an enjoyable event, but made sure we were off to a concert on time without feeling rushed. The staff is clearly educated on the details of the wine list and helpful with deciding which wines pair best with the combination of plates ordered. I had a wine flight of 4 that stood on it's own, yet did not over power the food. Both my husband and I ordered the filet mignon and they were cooked perfectly, med-rare. The squash puree was a smart counterpoint to the saltiness in the seasoning of the beef. I couldn't choose between the deserts...so I ordered 2!"
